We stepped into the forest. The atmosphere turned heavy instantly. We were supposed to move fast in order to find a target as fast as possible. We were told that he is able ob gaining power in abnormal speed. I couldn’t believe what they have said. Someone who is getting stronger from day by day? It is impossible! Progress is made by efforts that was continued for months! You can’t simply pick a sword and after a year be the champion of world! Neither with magic! Bah! The magic is actually even harder to learn. Yet here we were told about mage that get access to magic about month ago, and now he will soon surpass apprentice level. If it is truth, then it is not fast. It’s a true monster that we should leave alone, not provoke!

How would we find him? Normally we would use our seeking device, but there is a problem – this device is looking for every kind of magic. In normal town of village we can more or less guess the position of mage in one kilometer radius.

But this forest is created from magic itself! Some stronger monsters generates magic by itself too! If we want to find him we have to either in very close distance, by very close I mean that we have to almost bump into him, or wait for him to use very powerful magic.

The inquisitor leading us is but a kid. Mostly got his position due to family name nor his own achievements. It happens. Rarely, extremely rarely, but it does. We are supposed to be elite squad, yet there are always some idiots that thought we are catching some harmless girls and them burn them on stakes. Oh, we do catch a little girls, but those little girls have already killed 8 friends of mine.

We encountered some difficulties, wolves – those were not a problem, not when they are alone. But we were also attacked by forest snake. Nope, not the animal. A monster. The body structure is pretty the same… just size is a bit… bigger? Oh just mere 4 meters, nothing serious. Did I mentioned this forest is magical? Yes, I did. But did I add, that it tend to corrupt normal animals? First they are but growing in size.. to a certain degree. Then, as certain conditions are met, they are growing even bigger and depending on animal: they are faster, stronger, more intelligent, their venom and/or poison is getting more potent, fur is making more and more forest-like, no, they are not merely changing a color. There were told to be a beasts, that fur of them were turning into wood. Step by step they were changing into more plant then an animal, yet they do not lose their ability to move… nor eat or feel hunger.

In the process we were forced to take a break. Robert was bitten and now he is lying on the ground in semi-sleep state inducted by poison and antidote warring each other. The night was coming and we made a camp. Please, all gods, let us survive yet another night.
