Chapter 25.2: Charybyssal Worm Pit
The soft snores of a happily sated Alraune were enough to make Scott smile. Flora had been quite eager for her post-work morale boosting session and Scott had been more than happy to boost her morale!
He gazed down at the sleeping girl as she wrapped her body around at full-length pillow and cuddled against it. She was almost too cute at times. How anyone could have just casually sold her off, twice, was beyond him. Sometimes the whole system annoyed him. It was efficient, but sometimes it felt like buying and selling alien girls for fun and profit almost seemed wrong. It was a ridiculous thought of course. If the girls were not captured in the wild they would have long since overrun humanity. Even with modern technology humanity had trouble pressing further into the planet.
Scott knew that the official propaganda was that humanity had learned its lessons from the past and did not want to ruin the environment, but he didn’t believe it. The truth was that short of an orbital bombardment there was little that advanced technology could do about the Nightmares as a whole.
People had to go in with small groups to root them out, preferably only one or two humans and a group of Lucid Crystallim. Large groups of humans had a tendency to cause mass instances of manifestation in the wild. While one man or woman could lead a large force of Crystallim, it was hard to maintain proper morale with that sort of set-up. It was far more common to have a staggered command structure. There would be a commander, and then several captains. The captains would have a few lieutenants. The lieutenants had sergeants. Each of these people had their own squad of Crystallim.
Dormant Crystallim had a tendency to manifest as Nightmares when humans came close enough to them to cause them to sense their spiritual energy. Nearly all large scale subjugation missions he had heard of in the past had met with disaster, especially the two major sea voyages. Entire fleets had been annihilated by the crystallim that dwelled in the deep ocean.
Scott looked at the sleeping girl and wondered what she would be doing right now if she had been born human. Would she like plants? Would she be as sweet and loving as she was now? Would she have a family? He wondered briefly what having a real family would be like.

He reached down and lightly stroked her green hair. Flora nuzzled her body pillow a little then made a cute noise.
Scott glanced over to Pirouette then motioned toward the door. She nodded then headed out and he followed after her. The door shut and locked behind them, Scott slipped an arm around the dark elf’s waist then kissed her gently on the cheek. She granted him a brief smile then slipped her arm around his waist as well.
“So, what’s up?” asked Pirouette.
Scott looked toward the end of the hall then sighed. “I don’t know. Something about this worm pit bothers me.”
“Is that really it?” asked Pirouette.
“Not entirely, but it’s the only thing I want to talk about at the moment.” said Scott.
“I see.” said Pirouette softly, before she squeezed his waist with her arm.
Scott was silent for a moment while he collected his thoughts. They were fleeting and confused thoughts, mostly about the way the pit had been found. Eventually he said, “Are we sure it’s even a worm pit?”
“Hmm? What else would it be?” asked Pirouette.
“I don’t know, but you said it yourself. How could it possibly have such a range of effect? More to the point where the hell were all the Hawkline?” asked Scott.
“Good point. If it were really able to draw them in from so far away, wouldn’t we have seen a few of them?” asked Pirouette thoughtfully.
“I hate to get too close to the thing, but we need to check it out again tomorrow. I’ll see if the mayor will let me borrow a vehicle.” said Scott.
“If she doesn’t, I’ll go and get one from the institute. Though, I’d have to bring it all the way out here. That could take most of the day, and you’d be on the hook for the expense if something happened to it.” said Pirouette.
Scott grinned at her. “I appreciate the offer either way. It didn’t seem to be that necessary for this job since we were only supposed to patrol the area.”
She glanced sideways at him then asked in a coy manner, “Just how appreciative are you?”

Scott’s hand slipped down between the cleft of her ass cheeks then forward to lightly caress her maidenhood. “Very.”
“Show me?” she asked sweetly.
Scott lightly massaged her mound while he acquired a thoughtful look. “I wonder how I can do that?”
Pirouette moaned sweetly then leaned against him. She started to make a very lengthy suggestion, but the eroticism of the moment was ruined by a sudden angry outcry.
“What the hell! Do you perverts have to do that in the hall!”
Scott barked out a laugh, but did not even bother to look at the newcomer. “What took you so long, Eina?”
“What took me so long? What are you talking about, you fat pervert?” asked the twin-tailed terror before she sat her two large suitcases down.
“You didn’t come here just to be near me?” asked Scott lightly.
“Who would do something so useless? I just happened to be coming here.” replied Eina in a huffy tone.
“You just happened to be coming to a frontier town in the middle of nowhere...?” asked Pirouette.
Eina snorted at her then crossed her arms over her impressive chest. “Yes, obviously I have reason to be here.”
“Yeah, the reason is definitely obvious.” said Pirouette.
The twin-tailed powerhouse glared hotly at the dark elf then looked away, her cheeks had become slightly flushed. “Whatever.”
“Good to see you, Eina.” said Scott gently.
Eina blinked then tilted her head down. “Is it really?”
“Of course.” said Scott.
She looked up at him with wide eyes and a mildly confused expression. “Then why did you leave me behind...?”
“We’re not together... It’s not like I can just drag you all over Galataea.” said Scott.
“Whatever... It’s not like I’d want to travel around with a useless fatty like you, anyway.” said the girl in a petulant tone.
Scott did not take the bait she had offered. Instead he looked down at her luggage. “So, are you staying in this hotel?”
“I don’t know what I’m doing. The place is full; all the places are full... Some stupid festival coming up.
“What are you going to do then?” asked Scott.
Eina sighed softly then looked away. After she did so, Scott looked down at her luggage then smiled. It was obvious what she wanted, though it would be impossible for her to ask.
“If you can keep your hands off my hot man candy, you can stay with us.” said Scott.
Her face darkened slightly and her eyelids fluttered in a comical fashion. “Who would want to touch your candy?”
Pirouette leaned over and kissed him softly on the lips. While she did so, she glanced over at Eina.
The blond haired girl curled her fingers into tight fists for a moment then closed her eyes. “Fine! It’s obvious that you’ll just laze about and get fatter if I’m not here to keep your lazy asses in shape.”
Eina reached down and took her luggage in hand before she stalked menacingly toward the door to her new room. Scott opened it for her and she stormed in.
The blond girl dropped her overly heavy luggage then crawled onto the bed and positioned herself to sleep on her back in the middle. She crossed her arms over her chest then snorted. However, her petulant and annoyed expression soon turned to shock when vines wrapped around her and a half-asleep Flora embraced her in a tight hug.
“Hey, let me go you big titted shrub!” exclaimed Eina. Flora merely snuggled in closer and started to kiss her softly on the neck.
Eina could have broken free, but it was obvious that she did not want to hurt the girl. “Let me go!” She pushed at Flora and inadvertently pressed against her chest. Flora moaned out gently then nuzzled against the amazon with ever greater ferocity.
“Stop touching that!” cried out Eina as vines slipped between her thighs.
Scott shut the door to block out Eina’s weak protests then turned back to Pirouette. After a moment they shared a silly smile. Eina was always entertaining.
