《Dungeon Core Abi》Chapter 24: The Elf and The Dungeon
Advertisement
In a small dark featureless room beneath the surface of Tira. An elf is engaged in a fight to the death with a Golem.
Standing tall at almost 9 foot, the solid structure of life has to arch its body over just to attack the much smaller trespasser in its domain. With size appearing to be an overwhelming advantage for the creature, three onlookers of this particular battle watch on in anticipation. Each is hoping for a different outcome, yet only one's life hangs in the balance.
Appearances, however, can be deceiving and the elf as it turns out is actually mocking the Golem. A large satisfied smile is spread across his pale face and he appears as though he is truly having fun testing the limits of his reaction time.
Evading without retaliating, he dances around each well-placed strike his enemy throws at him with a graceful elegance while the room becomes a battlefield of broken stone.
As it turns out, the elf's smaller stature is more help than hindrance. His long white hair is pulled tight and not a single strand is affray. Loose white robes, covered with golden sequins flow in motion as he moves in tandem with the air avoiding all contact.
After a quick weave to the left, avoiding a right jab thrown by the Golem, he steps in close executing a swift jab of his own.
With this being the only attack he has thrown at his enemy, the elf rips his arm free from the rock-like structure of his opponent's chest. Within his hand is the magic core, the life force of the Golem, which he has just removed with ease.
The large body of the monster crumbles where it stands. The Elf then turns his attention to the last object that remains in the room.
"Hahaha! You're mine now baby," laughing triumphantly, he gloats at the Core before him.
"You two. Guard the door," the two other elves do as they're commanded and stand at opposite sides of the entrance to the room.
"Hahaha. Number three. I can't believe it. After I destroy you, I'll be even stronger," boasting to his enemy as he makes his slow approach, the Core knows its short time in this world is over.
Every monster that it had summoned throughout its brief existence had already met their untimely demise to the wicked intruder's accomplices.
All the Goblins that it had summoned over the course of its life were now gone. The Goblins that had gone out to find breeding materials. The Goblins that had levelled up and evolved. Even the Golem that stayed within the walls of the dungeon at all times was now gone.
Only crumbled dust on the floor remained.
The Core was in agony. Struck with grief that combined with rage and hatred. An overwhelming need for revenge.
Unfortunately though, there was nothing it could do. Its inevitable doom cackled as he made his way across the small room.
It felt like eternity passed for the young Core. Trapped inside the home it once revelled in which had now turned into its cage.
For the executioner, it was everything. There was no slow motion. No fleeting thoughts. Only delight, at the power he could steal from another.

Sparing no sympathy, the elf shatters the beautiful little Core. Just like that, life comes to an end for Dungeon Core G and the balance of the world tilts a fraction more.
The elf, known to others as Hiroshi, laughs even louder as he absorbs the power released by his latest victim.
Once it's complete he closes his eyes and stands in the otherwise empty room. He then calmly asks, "Which direction should I head next?"
Knowing that this isn't the first time their master has spoken to himself, neither of the female elves say a word. They are still standing outside the door and have not moved a single muscle. They didn't even look into the room when the Core was shattered. They were told to guard the door, so that's what they're doing and will continue to do until told otherwise.
On the left side of the entrance, Kya is obediently eyeing the passage they came down and guarding the door like her master commanded. This is out of loyalty and respect for Hiroshi as he is upholding elven honour by destroying these twisted dungeons. She also believes her master is talking with a god.
Aura, on the other hand , is terrified of her new master. He killed her last one and claimed her as his prize. She guards the door out of fear from the numerous discipline sessions she has been given. She believes Hiroshi is a maniac and yet is too scared to attempt another escape.
"C'mon, bitches. Let's roll," he says once his one sided conversation is over. He strolls past them and the two slaves do as commanded and follow on behind. The three then retrace their original path and leave the hollowed out interior without another word being spoken.
Heading east, Hiroshi and his slaves traverse the forest to close the distance between them and his next target. They keep on until they reach a running stream with fresh clear water and the sun begins to set.
"This will do fine. Kya, remove my tent," he orders his obedient slave and she does as commanded. Kya is the only one of the three who can use spatial magic so she is tasked with carrying most of Hiroshi's belongings.
Hiroshi's tent is more of a small home. Made from waterproof material it has a large brown door and a hexagonal shape to its beige structure. It has a window on the side openable from the inside and the whole tent culminates at the top into a thin point.
Aura watches Kya beam in delight over being helpful to their Master. Stupid woman, she thinks to herself. Delusional would be a better fit. Just because he's destroying dungeons she holds him in high regards. It's even bordering on worship with the way she speaks about him.
Aura despises Hiroshi vehemently. The beatings she can stand, she's been a slave since she was little and has had more than her fair share of bruises. It's what happens in the tent that she cannot accept and it's also what fuels her hatred for him.
If her master had been a woman, like herself, Aura wouldn't be bothered in the slightest. In fact she would probably find her role with Kya switched completely. Sadly for her though, that's not the situation she is in.

The night comes and goes and Aura takes her turn in the tent. From the moment she enters all the while until she leaves, she is a hollow husk of an elf.
Just a shell and nothing more.
Morning comes and the tent is stored back into Kya's storage. Hiroshi eats a hot meaty breakfast which is also made by his devoted follower. After he's done, he leaves his scraps for the two slaves to pick over. With the paltry leftovers consumed the three make tracks through the forest, once more continuing with the same heading of east from the day before.
Sleeping.
Eating.
Indulgence.
These are what Hiroshi's days consist of as they travel onwards towards his next source of power. The last dungeon boosted each of his stats by 25.
Every single one of them.
It was strange because he hadn't been expecting that type of boost. It had been the weakest of the three dungeons that he had destroyed so far. The one before it was much stronger and after he had destroyed the Core his agility stat was boosted from 48 to 148.
That was how he had managed to dance around the Golem's strikes so easily in the last fight. If it wasn't for that boost then it would had to have been fought much differently. He still wouldn't have lost however.
The first dungeon had given him a similar increase to the second. Boosting his strength stat from 59 to 159, this was another reason he was able to take out his much larger opponent so deftly.
With the new 25 point increase to every stat, his agility and strength were now both nearly at 200.
With these stats he could already be considered being around level 35, even if his actual level is only 18.
Elves don't follow human law over dungeons. They serve the gods by removing them from existence as they have done since long ago.
Not many venture from their own lands to do this usually as the different species of Tironia don't get along well.
Hiroshi, however, was never a regular elf.
Named Aldor by his parents, he was born into the lowest ring of elven hierarchy. His parents were farmers, hard-working elves who knew the value of kindness. As he became bigger with each year that passed by, Aldor began helping with jobs around the farm and over time he had grown into a strong young man.
A few days after his 18th birthday, he was out in the field spreading manure over the new crop when pain filled his world. New, but old, memories invaded his mind. Strangely, everything he was remembering was from a previous him in a past life. If these new memories were to be believed then originally he was from a world very different to the one he had been living in up until now as Aldor, son of Aldorn. It had been advanced in so many more ways compared to this backwater world. The thoughts and ideals of a culture based on money and power seeped back into his soul.
The memories of Hiroshi Hiro, a sanitary worker from Okinawa, returned to him and the two minds merged into one. Knowledge combines between Tironia and Earth as he stares at his manure-covered hands.
Hiroshi, the man who died on the job whilst drowning in a river of literal shit, finds himself living in the body of a strong young elf. He had gained all of his memories for the last two decades aswell and new knowledge combines with the old.
The first thought he had after he was settled was 'fucking system'.
The second was that he won't be cleaning up anyone's shit in this world.
Not anymore.
Hiroshi craved power and with his new knowledge he knew that he could earn it quickly by destroying dungeons.
It was all new to him living in a world that has levels and magic, yet at the same time it wasn't. He had all these memories of living here but felt like a stranger. Luckily for Hiroshi he had an onboard A.I or something similar to help him on his mission. Soon after, he left his village in search of dungeons.
Knowing humans treat dungeons differently from his own kind and with his own onboard guidance system, Hiroshi set out on a journey to gain the power he wanted.
Picking up two slaves in different ways across the continent, he found he didn't even need love to satisfy his needs in this world. All it takes is a little money or power and one can get whatever they want.
Three dungeons, and a lot of devious acts later, he finds himself crossing over into the lands of Ishda. In search of a fourth victim that he is being guided towards.
In the distance his target is visible.
The rate at which the mountain had been growing recently had not gone unnoticed by the surrounding villages and each sent their own report to Lord Aldur regarding the matter. A mountain that has decided to start growing larger by the day is definitely a cause for concern. Even if no threats have been posed by any of the surrounding monsters that live close, it should still be reported so that it can be checked out. The report sent from Orad, one of the closest villages to the source of worry, also contains information about the missing Expert and his troops.
Even though Hiroshi and his slaves still have a long journey to make on foot until they reach the mountain, the sight of it is quite strange. From this distance the mountain looks to be littered by patches of black and purple with scarce red plots appearing in random locations.
Never having witnessed such a feature, in either of his two lives, Hiroshi pushes on with excitement. The supernatural sight of the mountain almost confirms how strong the owner of inside could be.
This one was going to push him to heights he could only dream of. No longer would he feel like an anomaly in an autonomous world. The prospect of Levels and stat boosts pleased him greatly and he was consumed with greed. He would destroy as many dungeons as possible until he was the strongest person in this world. Then he would no longer think of himself as the shit-shovelling cleanup man that he used to be.
