《Infinity Tomes - Legacy of the Ancients》Chapter 82 – Imminent Death?

The bright afternoon sunlight became hazy as the world around the two Supreme Domain experts crackled. It was as if they were in an illustrative portrait that was crumbled up.
“Mother f-” General Suun couldn’t even finish screaming as a bone shattering sensation against his lower back spread across his whole body. It has been many centuries since he received a blow that shook him to his very core and made him tumble back. However as soon as the unexpected blow came, he instantly brimmed with power and protected his body with ten meters of protective fire Qi.
Likewise the Spear Lord who is ten thousand years older than his opponent was shocked beyond what words could describe. He was actually hit by an unknown and unanticipated technique! He too got knocked backwards a few steps. His well-groomed hair became disordered and the studious-looking robe he donned in actually ripped. However an armor of invisible blades protruded from his body and rotated about his body fiercely.
In both instances, the two distortions in space that could rip apart mountains came to a halt and even got pushed back a bit. Dimensional Destruction was a skill that is meant to break apart dimensions but at its very core, it’s still a specialization which is fundamentally a skill. Skills are powered by their users and Ryu’s Qi is still that of a King Domain expert only. He has yet to form his essences which could improve his prowess by many times. An ordinary Emperor Domain would have fell to such a devastating attack but Supreme Domain experts with their soul Qi can withstand and even repel the attack with some effort. If Ryu was at a higher cultivation level, the rips in space would have produced a black hole.
Seeing the result, Ryu felt somewhat disappointed but this was not outside of his expectation. Ryu knew his limits very well. Even if a baby was armed with a sword doesn’t mean it can kill an adult. His goal wasn’t to kill them ether, tearing something of a much stronger Qi wasn’t an option but it’ll still pack a punch. The two of them suffered minor internal injuries. Ryu just wanted the two to begin the fight so he could slip away, from his special vision he could tell that they are evenly matched.
The surprised pair instinctively launched two mighty strikes at each other after the odd distorted space attack. Suun’s face warped into a twisted expression and he howled like a delirious beast thirsting for blood. A flame serpent hundreds of meter long lashed out at a lightning speed. The incinerating flames were purplish-white, making the deadly Qi projection look like a demon from the deepest parts of hell.
Spear Lord who had a grand demeanor befitting that of a scholar or an enlightened monk suddenly let out a war cry that could be heard for miles. Although his body didn’t move, a massive Qi spear had already formed and chopped downwards with enough force to flatten a mountain. As the gigantic spear fell, it not only increased in speed but also in size.
The fatal spear apparition slammed into the scorching flame serpent, creating a titanic explosion that blasted apart the guiltless clouds in the sky. The Qi spear was knocked back upwards while the flame serpent was splintered into many streaks of fire that shot out randomly.
During this exchange, the Spear Lord barely came above as the victor but both men didn’t care for the outcome of such a trivial opening.
“What was that attack earlier?” Both experts asked themselves. Supreme Domain cultivators did not get to where they are through ordinary means. Most of them have secretive and mystic arts that are unheard of to the public. Nevertheless, to even get a sneak attack in without either of them noticing is something astonishing.

Could it be the third Supreme Domain expert that’s lurking around? No, it doesn’t look like that person made a move though… That old fool is more formidable after all these years. His reputation is well deserved! He is truly a grandmaster of spears.
The Kong family… it seems like this young one is even more challenging than his father! Perhaps he branched out from the fire skills used by his family.
Ryu’s body which was held with an iron grip by the two fighters suddenly shifted and flew a safe distance away from them. Since everyone else fled away from the enchanted dome that shields the Thousand Swords Graveyard, Ryu was sent in the opposite direction towards the Enchantment so they could keep an eye on him. Not in their wildest dream would they suspect Ryu of launching the attack that slightly harmed them earlier. Even if Ryu ran for dear life, he can’t out run these two so the restrictive Qi holding him in place was gone.
The Emotionless Witch’s body was sent away by Ryu. Her cultivation had been ruined and she will most likely not be a major threat in the future. Unlike the Gem Thief that rarely kills, she had the blood of thousands on her hand so Ryu didn’t bother restoring any of her longevity back. Wu-Ming and the Lightning Devil knew that the situation is out of their hands and flew away as well. The two magicians gave each other a look, snapped a crystal and disappeared out of thin air. Zenos who was watching for amusement suddenly disappeared as well.
Spear Lord Ran Yuia made the first move and swung his right arm outwards as if he was holding a spear but his hand was empty. Then with an inhuman speed, he made a diagonal slash. The same large Qi spear naked to the human eye moved along with his movement.
Kong Suun didn’t dare take this attack lightly after seeing how his flames got splintered earlier. A rectangular door appeared behind him and a flow of magma poured out and congealed around him. From the outside it looked like Suun was buried in lava but a moment later the lava hardened and became what looks to be a fiery golem. This was one of his specializations, Infernal Molten Armor.
As the invisible Qi spear slashed across the molten golem with Suun inside, only a few pebble sized cracks appeared. Suun sneered and charged forward as if he was hit by a mosquito earlier. A steaming stream of magma spurted out from the golem’s mouth.
Yuia also became serious after Suun unveiled his specialization, using two hands a physical spear appeared in his hands. The green spear looked ancient but had a majestic air about it. A chiseled dragon coiled about the body of the spear until it reached the blade. The head of the dragon glowed as if it was a real beast.
Whoosh, he spun the spear in a circular fashion and dispersed the incoming magma. Then he struck out with the spear against the incoming Suun, the spear became illusionary and flexible like it was alive. It struck the golem consecutively and while it made minor dents, it pushed back the mammoth bulk of lava rock.
Everyone who had the gulls to observe the battle had their eyes glued onto the two overbearing combatants. Most of them forgot about Ryu who stood far away from the action. For most of them, this was a battle of a lifetime. It was very rare for two Supreme Domain experts to engage in a battle in public.

While this was happening, the location where the two magicians disappeared from flashed and a teenage boy showed up in an oversized cloak out of nowhere. His name was XieXu and he was a Six-Circle Magician. Real teleportation was impossible in the mortal world but the Blink Spell utilized by magicians allows them to travel short distances almost instantaneous as long as markings are made beforehand. His presence was masked by magical items. Only by actually staring at him would one notice him, Qi sense was useless.
“Incompetent fools.” He muttered as he made incantation with his hand. “The forbidden art requires me to recuperate for a whole month without disturbances. Any mana usage during this time will cause severe backlashes! However… that kid supposedly activated the ancient tablet which contains a Seven-Circle level spell… meaning he could contain the genes of our ancestors, I’ll have to make this exception.”
Magicians are generally weaker in cultivation due to the extreme difficulty of walking down the path of Magic. However they are usually on-par with people of higher cultivations due to the unique and mysterious spells available to them. This teenage boy was senior to the two women fighting with Wu-Ming and the Lightning Devil earlier. His battle strength is not any weaker than the Supreme Doman experts present but due to certain complications, he can only use underhanded tricks to snatch up Ryu at the moment.
A beam of light suddenly shot forth from under Ryu as the teenage boy clasped his hands together, finishing the spell. This was a reverse Blink Spell, capable of bringing objects from a short distance to the user.
XieXu smiled as he anticipated Ryu to appear before him so he could utilize the Blink Spell to escape back to his base with him. Restrictive spells have been placed around his base so no one can trace his location.
“A Seven-Circle spell can cut down these two barbaric fools in a second. That boy… I wonder what other secrets he is hiding.” XieXu mused as he thought about all the possible achievements he could make with Ryu in his grasp.
A second passed and nothing happened.
Huh? The teenage magician wondered. What’s going on? Something is wrong… the spell is malfunctioning?!
At the market place where Ryu escaped getting transported away with a spell was because he was utilizing Sage Arts which conveniently excluded him from the spell. This time Ryu also inadvertently did something that helped him escape capture from a magician. His specialization earlier, Dimensional Destruction, had fractured the space nearby and created temporary minor instability to the area. However only those a True Immortal would notice such a thing. Even a Sovereign Domain user such as Alexis or Zenos would not notice it.
The underlying mechanics of magic spells are generally not understood too clearly for most magicians. Spells are something that existed eons ago and only those with aptitude for mana and intelligent minds could decipher them. Most spells are like black boxes, the user only knows what is going in and what should be coming out.
XieXu used the Reverse Blink Spell countless times but he never truly understood how the spell carried out its task. The Reverse Blink and Blink Spell is a cunning way of minor manipulation of space. Now that space has been distorted, the spell wouldn’t work properly.
Right at this moment where space tore up earlier, General Suun used his notorious white blazes that earned him fame in battles. Waves of destructive white flames charged forward at the Spear Lord but suddenly a huge portion of the cremating white blazes got transported close to where Ryu was! A vast streak of white flames as wide as river flowed out from above Ryu.
This big disturbance did not go unseen. XieXu had been unnoticed up until now but the odd teleportation of the flames got the two Supreme Domain experts’ attention. All three experts were confused and had no explanation for the odd phenomenon that jus occurred. However what was on their minds at the moment was the danger that was befalling on Ryu! Many streaks of the devilish white flames was about to crash into Ryu and incinerate him. Even if the three of them exercised all their strength, they could not stop it in time.
“No!” The domineering General known as White Blaze screamed in alarm. The terrifying blast of white flames were without restraint, it even had traces of his Soul Qi! Although the deadly flames are like an extension of his body and he could retract the force completely if he had sufficient time, there was no time in this case. He can only pull back perhaps fifty percent of his Qi from the fragments of flames that’s heading straight for Ryu like bullets.
The Spear Lord also saw what was happening and turned his face away to sigh. He realized that there was no way anyone could stop the disaster heading towards Ryu. The only path awaiting the poor chap was death. Even if the flames were a small remnant of the main attack, it’s still an attack from a Supreme Domain expert. He glared at the culprit responsible and charged towards him instead.
The augmented cognitive abilities granted from the Infinity Tomes allowed Ryu to perceive the inevitable danger clearly. Never did Ryu predict something like this would happen. He originally planned to run away after finding an appropriate timing. His biggest worry before now was forming the essences but this eclipse that issue completely.
The speed of the flames exceeded all his expectations, even if Ryu fled at top speed he wouldn’t be half as fast as the incoming flames. Although in Ryu’s eyes the flames were five hundred meters away, they would reach him in less than a second.
Ryu was still in the state where his first Qi reservoir used no Qi. Specializations are mysterious and wondrous skills that grants great powers with extreme conditions. By not using Qi, Ryu was granted the ability to break space and manipulate time.
Time Dilation! Since Ryu Qi-less state allowed him to use his second specialization as well, he unleashed it without thinking. The death-seeking flames slowed down by five times, giving Ryu an additional two seconds to deal with this predicament.
Dimensional Destruction! Ryu attempted the skill again as he grabbed onto a distorted tear of space in his hand. However, he could not break the space occupied by the flames since it was of much superior Qi and also contained traces of Soul Qi used by General White Blaze! Fear of imminent death seeped into his heart as he realized the current him can’t escape this at all.

8 144Knight and Deserter
The year is 1039 of Autorm, and nothing has changed. The Knight Seekers still patrol the old highways, death is common in life, and justice is but an afterthought. Power is the unspoken truth, wealth is a means to an end. Anything else becomes irrelevant. The novel takes place in the fictional Kingdom of Spartha. The story revolves mainly around the adventure of two characters. Leondre vae Marras, the fourth son of a Marquis. A prodigy in the Royal Military Academy, and aspiring Knight-errant. Albeit he's still a teenager, naive, and also inexperienced with the outside world. He is also one of the few knights to take the code of Chivalry seriously. Then there's Cendric Forrester, the bastard of a decorated Knight. Sold off in servitude to the Order of the Knights Seeker, to unwillingly pay his mothers debt. He's tired of being the Orders pet hound. Ruthless to those standing in his way, and disillusioned with Chivalry and the world around him. Cendric is a survivor, and firmly believes one should have their own self interests in mind. Two opposites of a coin, the only thing they have in common besides their ire for each other is blood. They're cousins surprisingly, not that it really matters.
