《Time Will Tell》Chapter Thirty Five: Learning - Part 6 (History 3/3)

Reading about Zhorr’s life and his story, despite the treachery he committed, I had to hand it to him that he was extraordinary.
To manipulate, use, turn against and then overpower the entirety of humanity for your own personal gain and then succeed basically free of consequences was one hell of an accomplishment.
Reading on, Zhorr would go on to fulfill his promise of sharing the Supreme secret to his descendents, but the next generation of Supremes didn’t emerge immediately. Despite all the best advantages, the bottleneck to overcome the Master level and become a Supreme was still devastatingly hard and it wasn’t until Zhorr’s 202nd great grandson, Geed, that the second Supreme the world had ever seen appeared. When Zhorr passed in the end, Geed naturally took over his throne and succeeded him as the second king of the Balelight Kingdom.
There was also a footnote that said at the end Zhorr’s life story, that even after thousands of years of research and development of their techniques, an endless amount of ideal resources and the culmination of generations of optimal matchmaking amongst those with the same affinity, till this point, the maximum amount of Supremes currently alive and residing in the Balelight royal family is only seven.
Such is the struggle to become a Supreme.
After the Great Schism, Zhorr’s kingdom and his descendents never again had conflict with the Coalition and remained to themselves for most of history up until the current age. The Coalition however didn’t leave them alone because they let go of the grudge though, but rather that they couldn’t go back and address their grievances as they had other more pressing concerns…
With the blockade on their conquest formed by what was now known as Zhorr’s Blessed Land and another Blessed Land that resided close by which together had boxed humanity in, now broken down, the conquest of the world once more started up again in full swing.
With Zhorr’s betrayal and after years spent fighting together again all the associations were now unified and at peace once more. The leaders of which were all also unanimous in their new decision to aim humanity towards the pursuit of two goals.
The first. To discover how to break through to the Supreme stage.
The second. To conquer their own Blessed Lands.
…but these objectives were easier said than done.
After the Great Schism humanity once again expanded but for the next thousand years the only Supreme to emerge was King Geed of the Balelight Kingdom. Conquest continued however and new Blessed Lands were discovered and fought around but no progress was made on the Supreme research front, leaving the Coalition leadership very frustrated.
It wasn’t until finally after this second millennium of expansion that the second independent Supreme would emerge.
Her name was Glenna Skybringer or Glenna the Second. A gravity sorceress.

When Glenna emerged the Coalition and all the people of Calzyn rejoiced, completely convinced that a new age of advancement that had been promised by Zhorr would finally emerge at last.
But once again, to the world’s great disappointment, that wasn’t what happened.
For a thousand years the Coalition had been smearing and shaming Zhorr’s name and accomplishments as best they could, but despite all their best efforts he was still the most powerful man alive and regarded with worship and admiration by all who walked the Paths.
And Glenna was no different.
Now finding herself at the top of the world and equal only to two others, when the leaders of the Coalition invited her to come and tell them about how they too would go about becoming Supremes, she harshly rejected them. Leaving the Coalition, and the world once again, in turmoil.
As true a notion in any world, when one has power, seldom do they give it up willingly.
Naturally the Coalition was furious and united their strongest forces to try and capture Glenna and force her to release the secret. But this never came to pass as Glenna was too powerful, especially as a gravity wielder and so was never captured. After using some of her power to display some shows of force, the Coalition was driven to the point where they were forced to make a truce with Glenna and surrender a piece of land of her choosing to establish her own kingdom.
This was the second greatest humiliation in the Coalition's history, and it wouldn’t be the last.
With Zhorr and now Glenna setting a trend, a divergence started emerging within human society between Warriors and Sorcerers. Before this point they had been companions and equals but with the confirmed ability of Sorcerers to push into the Supreme level and Warriors as of yet not being able to, Sorcerer’s started getting elitist.
Until now all of humanity had been united together as one, both Warrior and Sorcerer, under the guidance of control of the Coalition. But now, sorcerers no longer saw themselves as a part of this reality and instead were beginning to recognise themselves as a superior class compared to Warriors in their own opinion. It also didn’t help that the talent required to become a Sorcerer was much higher than compared to becoming a Warrior to begin with. And so, Sorcerer’s got it into their heads that their Path was superior and so they too were superior, and shouldn’t be placed under the confines of the Warrior majority Coalition.
From this point magical clans and organizations started emerging outside the Coalition’s purview and as time passed, they started gaining strength and momentum. The Coalition tried their best to stop this and many Sorcerers and their lineages remained in the Coalition, but it wasn’t good enough. Society was splitting right down the middle, and there was no stopping it.

As the centuries passed some more Supreme’s started appearing and establishing kingdoms and dynasties of their own and often they would except the fealty of lesser families and clans who lacked their own Supreme, following them so as to gain support against the Coalition and perhaps obtaining clues as to how to break through the “chasm” , the Supreme bottleneck as it is still called today.
As this continued it became recognised that the Coalition was becoming the primary organization for Warriors and some independent and low talent magical families. The superior magical bloodlines however were meant to rule themselves instead and therefore established their own domains and dynasties. Of course this was a blow to the Coalition, but it wasn’t as drastic as it seemed.
There had always been far more Warriors in Calzyn in contrast to Sorcerers and the untalented majority of humanity still remained under their governance. Also, the conquest never stopped and so land kept growing and the human population kept on growing alongside it and so even though the Coalition's strength slowed, it never stopped growing.
With their much smaller numbers and the factional disputes between them meaning they could never unify, the Clans and Kingdoms couldn’t topple the hegemony of the Coalition no matter how superior they felt. In a weird way the state of Calzyn society sort of became like the balance between government and big business. The government, being the Coalition, governed society and looked after its people and their development whilst the corporations, being the clans and kingdoms, went about trying to grow and make themselves greater in their own niche fields, all whilst living within a governmental framework.
Naturally each side of society tried and did influence the other, but a balance and harmony was established that actually ended up promoting Sorcerers in their own hierarchies and allowing Warriors to grow stronger and have more resources than they would have had otherwise if more Sorcerers were incorporated into the Coalition.
With this being the new social hierarchy, the people of Calzyn fell into a constant state of existence. Borders kept on being expanded, populations grew, Clans and Kingdoms established themselves and Supremes every once and a while emerged. This was how it went on for thousands of years… until society hit its second blockade, the Ocean.
By this point I’ve read up till about 200 years ago. Humanity has dominated the Homeland continent except for the locations of the Blessed Lands that are too strong to be invaded. They number exactly 104 and except for the one held by Zhorr’s descendants and another held by the Coalition, after they almost collapsed their society to obtain it. All the rest stand as they have always stood, within the hands of the Guardian beasts that occupy them.
It wasn’t that the unified strength of all the Warriors and Sorcerers couldn’t take over these Blessed Lands, but that they wouldn’t.
The reason of course being… political.
Humanity had by now grown to reach a massive population of almost 50 billion people. Naturally different factions emerged within the Coalition’s associations and the same happened in the many clans and kingdoms also. These differences have brought advancement into the Blessed Lands to a standstill as no consensus can be reached about which land to conquer first. Adding on to this, the Coalition can’t afford another period of stagnation that it would have to undergo to build up enough force while also maintaining the security along their now inordinately massive borders.
It was naturally suggested aligning with the clans and kingdoms, but they would of course vie for the control of the Blessed Land in question and would only fight for said Blessed Land if it aligned with their affinity.
It also goes without question, even if a kingdom did have a Supreme, that they alone wouldn’t have the strength to conquer a Blessed Land all by themselves without additional help due to their lacking numbers. So they too couldn’t do anything about expanding their borders even if they, as a rule, founded their dynasties next to Blessed Lands that carried their affinity if they could, amplifying their own powers.
The world needed a solution. Though it had been at this point over 12,000 years ago, the Scholar Association had kept a good record and remembered the threat of civil war that had emerged when people weren’t spending their time and energy on killing magical beasts and getting stronger.
So it was with this notion, that humanity left the Homeland to explore the seas and soon enough found a new rich and wide open land for them to continue their expansion into.
Upon landing and establishing an outpost in the new continent, soon enough, the Coalition started establishing Association branches overseas for the new age of conquest into the new world.

I had skipped over some descriptions of great battles, notable figures and the like as I read through the histories because it all became the same thing after a while, and I wasn’t really learning anything too important anymore.
It had taken me some time but with the exception of some of the latest historical records not yet being delivered to the side branch I had gotten a fairly firm grasp on the history and culture of the people of Calzyn.
The main features of it being, their obsession with battle, conquest, and growing more powerful by any means necessary.
I, being a potential source of information as to how these battle crazed maniacs may obtain limitless amounts of time if they found me out… left me not feeling too good about these revelations.

The Dungeon Calls for a Sage
Archimedes was the ego behind one of the most powerful dungeons ever created. He grew and developed his halls, filling them with powerful monsters and beasts, over the course of thousands of years. He was a grand structure of ten thousand floors which even heroes had failed to defeat. However, an Evil God had come from another world, calling himself the Demon King, and a party of heroes were sent to do battle with it. Through their victory, they obtained enough strength to breeze through Archimedes' dungeon like it was nothing. Forseeing the end of his life, and realizing how pointless his pursuit of power had been, Archimedes destroyed himself, taking the heroes down with him. Still, Archimedes felt despair that he had lived a worthless life as something as pitiful and futile as a dungeon. Sensing his regret and potential, the voice of the world presented Archimedes with the chance to start anew and live a more meaningful life. Thrilled and hopeful for the first time in eons, Archimedes accepted the offer, only to be reborn again as a dungeon core with not a single room or monster to his name. Just what was the meaning of this?! Archimedes couldn't figure out what the voice of the world was thinking. Somehow, he would have to draw a sage into his dungeon to figure it out for him. _______________________ DCS is now a member of the WriTEr's Pledge, which means I have sworn to see it through to a satisfying end.

8 107Reincarnated, Now What? (ReWorked)
This is what I always wanted. I always wanted to fight like in the anime and manga. Video games could only fill part of the void, but never fully. Follow Haruto, a young Japanese boy struck down in the middle of his gaming life and reincarnated at the whims of a sadist god. He is a chill dude, who loves anime and otakuing it up. The sadist powers that be have forced him to a new world, now he endeavors to live out every weeb's dream of reincarnation. you know minus the boring parts like fighting for justice. In a world of gods, demihumans, and thankfully succubi, Haruto decides to live the life of his dreams. It's a comedic isekai that should not be taken too seriously. An adventurer in age denial. A man who looks like a pig. The ever present human trash who call themselves nobility. Of course butlers because who doesn't like OP butlers who for some reason stay a butler. A croc that acts like a dog. Tons of one-inch punches in honor of the great one. A tribute to the best waifu. A wide assortment of demons. A lich who is great at kissing butt. It's an adventure slice of life journey and tons of trash talking. I mean how could a weeb not be good at trash talking, have you not read a wuxia before? Currently in the middle of revision, so bear with me on grammar and tense issues. Will be done within this life time.

8 162The White Room
A group of gamers are hired as guinea pigs to test a new VR system. None of them know what exactly to expect. Is the new system bing tested, or is it them? Are they just there for games, or is there a greater game being played? My first attempt at writing LitRPG. I I'm learning as I go and therefore will probably stumble over numerous cliches of the genre and writing in general. Definitely a work in progress.
