Wh .. at . ? It's no ... isy.
“Emergency. Shutdown imminent. Magicite storage levels critical.”
With a silent yelp, that was interrupted by slimy fluid sliding down her mouth. Bubbles of air escaped from both her nose and the now quickly closed mouth. A mask, that had been on her. Something that had seamless covered her mouth, nose and eyes. Had just been peeled off. Like an old band-aid, which was not needed anymore. A sharp stinging pain pulsed trough her before she could come to terms with all of this. As tiny points of pain started to blossom all over her body. Banishing all the coldness as swiftly as it came. An slowly rising heath surged in its place now.
Something bit me?! It burns! What is in my mouth! It's not tasty! My nose too!
Bonk Bonk Bonk
I .. I can't get away! Where am I!
Struggling in the viscous liquid, just gave her bruises as she hit the resilient glass of her enclosed little space. Which then angrily added to further her pains. Increasing her struggle to free herself, was the only thing on her mind soon. As the pain started to blend into a slush of conflicting emotions. She finally managed to focus her eyesight on what was before her. Flashing lights, lots of shiny metal surfaces and weird things she had no words for.
“Flush initiated. Teleporting buffering. Emergency relocation.”
The female voice came again. Monotonous and short. Devoid of any care for her situation.
That voice! It's not right. Not nice! Not nice at all! This all started with it!
First a trickle, then a flood of viscous liquid broke the containment. The thick glass that had held all of it in, just melted away into nothingness. One second there was a solid obstacle before her, the next moment a large opening had formed. With little knowledge what was going to happen, the flow sucked her out onto a metallic grid.
Blop
There the mess just flowed through and away from her. Leaveing her laying there, as gravity took its due for the first time in a while. With gusto mother earth took dividends for all the time spent just floating around.
Cough
“Eeww … ewggh ...”
Spilling out the contents of her stomach. More of the slimy liquid, together with a thick blue syrupy one. Splashed down, wherever that dark hole beneath the metallic grid lead.
“Argh … what!”
Huh? I can make sounds!
“Ahh ... ahh?”
Sniffing, then realizing that some of the viscous bad tasting goop was stuck in her nose. She sneezed all of it out, in three short bursts. Rubbing her nose frantically, she started shivering a bit. As air seemed to be displaced by something, far off in the distant corridor. Burst of cold winds rushed past her.
“Eww ... sticky. Cold …”
Scrubbing her hands on the flooring. A disgusted expressions flashed over her face. She would have to clean herself later of that goop, which shimmered slightly green in the flashing lights.
Fzzztttt
“AHH! COLD! StOp tHAt!”
From all sides, except below, fine streamers of water came at her. With uncanny aim, they followed her every movement in this small corridor. As these new unwanted experiences jolted her upright, skittering here and there in frantic motions.
bebEp beep be -
The sound cut suddenly off, together with the streamers of ice-cold water. Which made her ears flop up instantly. Trying to get into a pose she could fight of danger, she just dropped down on her butt. With the need to dodge unpleasant wetness gone, her tired muscles just gave out.

“Owwie ...”
“Main target, teleported. Secondary target located.”
Without much else of a warning. A blue light flashed and she started flailing as she dropped, from the sky.
“Wwhhaahhaat!”
Eyes wide open. Air rushed past her. As she saw something she never had before. Trees, from above. Lots of them. A vast expanse of green spread out before her eyes. In her still shaken mind, she didn't realize that those trees seemed rather tiny. With all this happening in such a short time, her mind snapped to the thing most important now.
Go ... got to land. I'm falling? Why! I didn't climb anything!
Her flailing stopped. She righted herself in a position her instincts had told her to take. So many times in her life already. Time to land onto all four limbs and laugh of another badly done jump.
“Treeee!”
Snapping and loud snarling could be heard. As a tiny framed humanoid toppled trough, a gigantic tree. From branch to branch, the ride downwards got stopped after a few too many bounces. Holding onto a branch, as wide as she was tall. Her breath coming in rapid succession, she asserted herself.
“Haa ... i .. i caught myself. What was that! Why did I fall here! ... where is here?”
Pulling herself up on the branch, with her limbs slightly shaking from the exertion. She could see only green. Somehow, she landed on the tallest tree around. About half as tall as all the others. Being still on the upper 3/4 of it. She could look out over the vast sea of green. Swiveling her head from side to side. Her sharp eyes took in the monotony of the area.
“Lots of scratch trees here.”
Scritch scratch
“Yup scratch tree.”
Nodding as that was quite important. She started crawling towards the main trunk of the big scratchy tree, as she named it in her mind.
“Hnn, I don't have my claws? Why?”
Holding her hands out, she only could stare at the stubby nails. Not at all like she remembered them.
“Did I always have these?”
Moving her thumbs around. Staring at them. She tilted her head. Thinking was still hard, but the fire in her body had quitted down. Just embers of prickling pain remained. Mostly from scratches and bruises on her body. Instinct more than luck, had her not break her bones. By shifting in the last moments, before hitting a nasty branch or three of them.
“ ... those are no good.”
Staring at her hands. It was clear to her, how lacking those where for climbing. Looking downwards, what could give someone vertigo easily, a drop that seemed to never end. Scratching her head. And absent mindedly liking some of the scrapes on her left arm. Her ears perked up.
“Wait! I know. Hnn, can I?”
Getting up on her legs, she shook them out a bit as they still wobbled slightly under the weight of her body. Checking if they were still healthy, as she would say. By patting them down softly. Without much more foretaught, her muscles bunched up as she crouched down a bit.
“Yieep! Uff ... I made it! Still best jumper~”
With a proud smile of her accomplishment and a swig of her tail. That slugged some last dregs of easy to get rid of viscous residual into the air. There was nothing else to it. Jump after jump, one branch closer to the ground. The further down she got, the wider they were apart. But that wasn't a problem. As her body slowly got more adapted at jumping around like that, her strength came back to her limbs rather quickly.

“Iieep!”
Barely managing to land on the next branch, with her vision blocked by a floating blue box. She frowned hard at the interloper.
“Hey!”
A hand shootout, trying to swat the thing away that nearly made her unplanned skydiving from before continue again. The blue box complied and vanished into thin air.
“Stupid blue thingy.”
Huffing and with a puffed-out tail. She clung to the branch for now. On the lookout for more of these floaty blue boxes. Her ears and eyes were searching for them furiously.
“Hnn. Weird thingy. It's gone now, no friends. Good!”
With a nod of approval. She was proud of her perception. As there was clearly no sign of more of them, she got ready and continued her jumping. With sweat tripping down her skin and muscles complaining about the abuse. After a workout of about 2 or 3 hours of constant jumping, she landed with a small thud on the ground.
“Made it. Sooo ... where?”
Sniffing the air, while carefully listening to the sounds of the woods. A burbling could be heard in the direction she deemed to be south-west and also from further south. With a hint of cold moisture and mossy scents. The rough feeling in her throat made her turn towards the first direction.
“Gotta drink, yes. That's good. And then ... home. Home always was there.”
Taking a moment to look for the sun. Her ears dropped a bit.
“Can't see the sun . Need to climb? Hnn ... ”
Shaking her head, as that was something she didn't want to do for now. As she just had gotten down from a tree. She continued strolling into the general direction of the sounds and smell of water. Luckily for her, the undergrowth was stilted. Duo the large trees absorbing most of the light of the sun. So, her progress was fast enough.
“Weird water?”
Looking at the small stream that was flowing before her. She just couldn't say, that it was just ``Water´´.
“Green? Why green, water isn't green.”
Poking the suspicious water. And sticking the finger in her mouth.
“Bleeh ... eww. Tastes weird. Tingly. Weird water is not good for drinking at all.”
Shaking her head because that's not water, she would ever drink. Now on all fours and she kicked dirt up in a flurry. Aiming at the offending stream of weird water.
“Pfft ... you taste bad. No one will want to drink you!”
With a huff she stood up and slowly moved into the next direction she could smell water at.
“Was easy to find, from that weird smell. But not good water.”
Shaking her head at the experience, she just continued moving on.
“ ... this water is blue. But a weird blue. Why is it shiny and sparkly?”
Tilting her head. Not trusting the new found source of thirst-quenching water. She starred holes in the new stream she found. Wich seemed to give off a slight blue glow, that went more into the neon light brightness then it any right to.
“Well, at least tasting it once.”
Rinse and repeat. Finger in water, then in mouth.
“Hnn? Tastes ... well, weird?”
Not being totally repugnant, like the first one. This seemed, okay.
“Just tingles a bit. Cold?”
Looking at the small stream of not too bad tasting water. She shrugged, leant over and put her mouth to it.
Gulp Gulp
With an undignified pose, that resulted in her ass sticking out towards the sky. She took one large mouthful after another.
“bbr-hrhr coooo--lllddd. Buuu-tt g-oooodd-d.”
Shaking herself to get the coldness out, now with her whole body. She noticed that there was still some sticky liquid goop stuck to her, now added with dust, leaves and parts of bark.
“W-wwaa-tter c-old.”
Quickly scrubbing herself in the ice cold and blue glowing water. She got rid of all the icky stuff. Teeth clattering, sitting on a field of moss. Which had found fertile ground near a fallen tree, just a few steps away from the stream. She started licking of the way to cold water.
Never going in there again. Ever.
As soon as the forest started to darken, she finally managed to get herself dry again.
“Night?”
Looking around, it truly seemed like night would fall quite quickly now. Her eyes were searching for a comfy place to rest, she was just too tired to think of food.
“ ... hungry ...”
Or not. She was really hungry. Way more important than some place to sleep. She remembered food. Good smelling cuts of soft meat, with mellow tallow in them. Nice yummy sauces, with juices that would still be there. Even after you let them cool down a lot. And sometimes even those fluffy puffy pancakes or crunchy ones. Which where crumbly and mellow.
GROOWLLROOLLLWWLl
“ ... hnn.”
Indeed. She was hungry. Very much so.
I remember someone, giving me food. Sometimes hunting food. But where is food here?
Scratching her head, while sniffing the air. She couldn't really tell. Food must be somewhere close, it always was. Getting up, she started walking alongside the small stream. Which illuminated the surrounding slightly with its glow.
“AH!”
Instantly, on all fours. Her pupils diluting to the max. In full hunting mode now. Her eyes were tracking a new glowing thing in the air.
surrr Suurr surrr
It was maybe the size of her hand and shone a bright greenish color. In fact, there where so many of them now. Her eyes wide, she starred at all of those juicy things. Which seemed to fly leisurely around without a care for the world. Bopping up and down in the air.
Food …
Wriggling around slightly to get her muscles ready, she pounced!
Pop
“Hmm?”
As soon as she snatched that flyer out of the night sky, she bit into it. Pooping like an over pressured balloon. Spilling glowing green fluids everywhere.
“Not bad. Tastes sweet, warm. But it makes my fur sticky ... wait.”
Looking at herself. Hands. Arms. Torso. Legs. Feet. She became as white as snow, all the blood draining from her face. At least where she wasn’t covered with green fluids, that was.
Stock still she starred at herself, this time really focusing on what she was seeing. Twitching her ears. Even more twitching of her tail. Which escalated in a furious slapping of her own thighs. As it really got going hard.
“MY FUR!!”
Frantically she turned around and locked at her backside. With a deep sigh of relief. She breathed out heavily.
“ ... tail is okay. But ... where did most of my fur go?! Was it the weird water! It must be! BAD WATER!”
Still smeared with green liquid sizzling on parts of her, she rampaged around. Unbeknown to her, she never had that much fur on her before. But a rather flimsy jumpsuit, that had frayed so badly it looked like a rough floor rug. That night, a lot of small pooping and very angry sounds echoed through the forest. Interspaced with cries of rage and depression, the night grew long for anyone in earshot.
“MY FUR!!!”
The predators of the night gotten somewhat scared of a weird lone but small beast, that very night. It ate the acid flies, everyone else stayed clear from. If they smelled it right, as all that slowly melting greenery was quite obvious to them.
“WHY!!”
While crying and stomping around loudly in a fit of rage. She made them shudder. Even the most suicidal or brave ones, scuttled far away from that.

Humanity Extinguished
I had the same nightmare again. The loss of my first life continues to haunt me, but now it aches like an old wound. A more grievous injury to my psyche was the losses yet to come and the inevitable hellscape I would return to again and again. Reincarnation is my curse. The lives themselves weren't all that bad. Losing people you cared about hurt and all, but even that pain was preferable to experiencing the nothingness between lives for months at a time. It was enough to drive anyone mad. Now I have to focus on breaking this horrible cycle. Thankfully I have all the time in the world. Trace is an average man driven by extraordinary circumstances in an indifferent and cruel world. His reincarnations give him a few key advantages but also take a heavy toll on him. He lives in a world where magic is uncommon and underpowered compared to the limitless physical adaptations you can acquire by getting your hands a little bloody. This story is one of hardship and terrible lows, but also monumental achievements and grand heights. The main character has flaws. While some of these flaws will fade with time, others will worsen. Thank you for taking the time to read my synopsis. I plan to release 2-3 chapters a week.
