The blonde stays outside and starts preparing coffee using the espresso machine.

The brown-haired male grabs one of the wrapped cookies, walks into the room, and gazes at me.

I irritably turn away and ignore him as he smirks.

"So you're a Callistus fan, that's cool. Didn't know girls were into knights and stuff."

He looks around for a place to sit.

"It's a story with a female protagonist involving magic and knights, too think females can't enjoy stuff like that is quite linear to say."

I bite into another pocky stick.

"You're right, my bad, my bad."

The blonde decides on a high chair at the other end of the room.

"We got off on the wrong foot; I didn't mean no harm, the names Kaho, Obara."

The corner of my eyes shifts towards him.

"Miwa, Momoko."

The blonde-haired high school student walked in with a cup of coffee with creamer and stick in hand.

"You need a pick-me-up, old man?"

The blonde walked over to join him at a nearby green high chair.

"At least I know how to make connections like a regular human being."

The blonde put his drink on a table in front of him.

"His name is Susime, Marano. But everyone calls him Mara!"

Susime tilted his glasses.

"The only one who calls me by that ridiculous nickname is you."

A young girl with reddish hair wearing a school uniform tied with a red ribbon around her collar enters the room, busy typing on her phone with earbuds blasting in her ear.

She walks over to a purplish beanbag centered in the room and takes a seat.

The black screen at the front of the room starts to light up, and the lights in the room start to dim.

Kaho nudges Susime playfully.

"I think it's starting!"

The red-haired girl looks for a second, takes an earbud out of her left ear, and continues to type on her phone.

"Welcome to the land of Callistus," the speakers started to announce, "A world filled with knights, dragons, magic, and monsters."

The door slowly creaks and closes behind us.

Turning behind me, I see the receptionist from before smiling as she backs away and walks down the hallway.

Guess she wanted us to have some privacy.

The screen catches my attention as it looks as if it was paused. The Callistus logo is being shown, but it's a bit glitchy.

Looking over to the red-haired girl, she's seemed to have stopped typing, but her hands are frozen like she's in shock.

I look over to my left to see the two boys frozen in place as well.

I attempt to get up, but I'm stuck in place, and I can only move my pupils around the room.

What is this?

Why can't I move?

"Because, Silly, you died."

. . .

I move my pupils forward, and the room around me shifts.

Now being able to move my head and neck, a black endless veil surrounds me.

A young girl with blue hair tied with a pink ribbon wearing a white dress sits in front of me.

Finally, being able to move, I jump to my feet, and the chair that held me flipped back onto the water-like floor.

"You mortals are so jumpity."

The blue-haired girl crossed one leg over the other.

"If I was told I'd died, I'd be ecstatic...no more problems, no worries, no—"

"Where the hell am I!?"

The blue-haired girl throws her hand back to frisk her hair.

"Heaven, but not really, sort of in the middle. But don't think purgatory."

"Wait, so, I died? How?"

She glares at me and uses her throne-like chair to rest her head at an angle on her fist.

"I won't answer any of your questions if you don't calm down and sit."

I turn behind me to grab the wooden chair and place it upright.

Her glare disperses, and she looks at me with a half-smile.

"There, better?"

"I suppose... Please just answer my questions."

The blue-haired girl uncrosses her legs and jumps from her seat. Her white mini-dress has golden outlines on the creases that sparkle with her every move.

"When humans die, where do you think they go?"

"Heaven or Hell, I guess."

"Mmm, you're half right."

She jumps back onto the white granite throne.

"If heaven was made for people that showed exemplary behavior in their life; And hell was made for those that showed no restraint in their wrongdoings, where does everyone else go?"

"Everyone else, assuming the people who've not had a chance to prove themselves bad or good?"

"Indeed."

"I'd assume they'd go into heaven since hell wouldn't be fair."

Her smile fades and turns to a fake pout.

"Well, that's not fair to the people who've proven themselves righteous or good."

I stare blankly, then put on a serious front.

"So what you're saying is, this place is where people who haven't proven themselves good or bad come for judgment."

She chuckles.

"Smart girl."

I look down at the floor in bewilderment.

Have I seriously not done anything considerably good in my life to get into heaven?

"How rude, I haven't introduced myself."

She gets up from her throne and curtsies not lifting her dress but putting both hands behind her back.

"My name is Seraphina. This is my realm, and I'm the current Headmistress of Ministering Angels."
