《Extinction》Big Game

The king was up early. He had enjoyed a breakfast of coffee, donuts, sausage and egg McMuffins, and cognac. The king was in an excellent mood today. The Eddie Murphy party had gone better than he had hoped, and today was going to be another great day.

Eddie Murphy had slept in one of the royal apartments. After the binge watching of Eddie Murphy films, Eddie Murphy has slept. He awoke and fed coffee, donuts, and sausage and egg McMuffins.

Eddie Murphy was stripped of his human clothes, and was dressed in traditional Maankaari hunting gear. He was wearing a tight body suit, which was adorned with bright and long dinosaur feathers. He was wearing a hat that had huge dinosaur plumes attached.

The king was taking his guest, Eddie Murphy, hunting. This was a hunt like no other a human had ever been on before. The king and Eddie Murphy would be hunting Tyrannosaurs today.

The king’s chamber was filled with the heads of mighty Tyrannosaurs that the king had killed over the ages that the Maankaari had been on earth. There were Tyrannosaurus Rex, Albertosaurus, Giganotasaurus, Tarbosaurus, and Spinosaurus. Like kings throughout the ages, and across all species, the king of the Maankaari loved to hunt.

Before the giant dinosaurs started their journey towards extinction from the overharvesting of the Maankaari, the king would hunt often. Always for the big game. With Tyrannosaurs, the female of the species was bigger and more aggressive. Now there were very few of these giant Tyrannosaurs left, maybe only a few. Hunted to extinction.

In the future, humans would ponder the fate of the giant dinosaurs. The humans would blame the disappearance of the giant dinosaurs on the meteor that impacted north of the modern day Yucatan peninsula. The humans would say that the meteor killed all of the large dinosaurs, and that only the smaller dinosaurs survived - which then evolved into birds. The humans will use this as an explanation of why so few late cretaceous dinosaur fossils have been found. The truth is, the giant dinosaurs were extinct long before the meteor impacted. The giant dinosaurs were hunted and harvested by the Maankaari. All the large dinosaurs were captured, and butchered, and used to feed the Maankaari people on the giant ship - and to fill the larder for the crossing to the next planet. The smaller dinosaurs were not hunted, as there was not enough meat on them to make their processing worthwhile for the Maankaari.

The Maankaari were set to leave the planet earth two million years before the meteorite impacted the earth. The planet earth is stripped of harvestable meat.

There were still some of the larger dinosaurs in the redwood forests of what would become Alberta and Montana. A few females and males, looking for a mate. The calls of a lonely Tyrannosaurus would echo over the hills and valleys of the forest. The last of their kind, going through the reproductive motions to keep their species alive. And as long as there was a lonely Tyrannosaurs in the forest, the king would hunt.

Eddie Murphy was brought to the king’s chamber. Eddie Murphy still had the obedience chain around his neck. The king was drinking cognac, and smoking a Churchill cigar.

The king was wearing the same hunting outfit as Eddie Murphy, although the king’s outfit was less flattering given his enormous and bulging body.

‘Eddie Murphy!’ - said the king, handing Eddie Murphy the bottle of cognac.

Eddie Murphy took a swig.

‘Today, Eddie Murphy we are big game hunting’ - said the king - ‘Today we will find one of the last of the Tyrannosaurs, and bag it’

Eddie Murphy stared at the king.

‘I will bag this giant Tyrannosaurs in your honor, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king.

The king took back the bottle of cognac, and took a giant swig from the bottle.

‘Is my skiff ready?’ - shouted the king

Horns sounded, and the wall at the end of the chamber rose. Once the wall had lifted, an enormous hangar was exposed. Inside the hangar were lines of imperial scouts, with their shiny metallic suits. The end of the hangar was open, and far below the redwood forest could be seen stretching as far as the eye could see.

A large ship was parked in the center of the hangar. It was open topped and was the king’s skiff. There were two smaller open top ships next to the king’s skiff. One was the scouting barge and the other king’s guards barge.

The king entered the hangar, and Eddie Murphy followed. The lord-chamberlain was standing in the hangar.

‘Your grace’ - said the lord-chamberlain, bowing.

The captain from the scouting patrol that had captured David Sterling, Dr. Hall, and Dr. Zoft was now promoted to major - and was the head of king’s hunt.

‘Big game today, major’ - said the king

‘Yes your grace’ - said the major, bowing.

‘Eddie Murphy will travel with me’ - said the king

‘Yes your grace’ - said the major

‘Ready the hunt’ - said the king

The major signaled to the scouts, and they climbed into the scouting barge. The king’s guards were assembled in the other barge. The guard's barge had a huge cannon on the front and rear. The horns sounded again, filling the hangar with noise that reverberated.

‘Come’ - said the king to Eddie Murphy, and they climbed into the king’s skiff.

The king’s skiff rose, and hovered in the hangar. The scouting and the guards barges rose, and hovered. The king’s skiff flew out of the hangar, and shot away from the giant Maankaari ship. The horns sounded again over the shoulders of the king and Eddie Murphy - and the guards barge flew alongside the king’s skiff.

The scouts barge flew ahead, fast and low to the forest below.

The king was flying his skiff, with Eddie Murphy standing beside him. The king had the huge Churchill cigar in his mouth, and was holding the bottle of cognac in one hand and steering with the other hand. The controls were a bar with a hand grip on either end. The skiff rose and dipped by pulling or pushing the bar forward or back. A peddle on the deck controlled the speed.

The king swigged more cognac, and then lent over and pulled the obedience chain from off of Eddie Murphy.

The skiff was flying low over the canopy of the redwood forest below. The sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day.

Eddie Murphy stood, unmoving for a moment and then as the effects of the obedience chain waned he looked at the king, and then staggered back to the rail of the skiff.

‘You’ - said Eddie Murphy

The king chuckled, and puffed the cigar.

‘This is not a dream’ - said Eddie Murphy

‘No, this is not a dream Eddie Murphy’ - said the king.

The skiff was flying over a giant valley, its sides covered in redwoods and a river flowing through the middle. Pterosaurs flew alongside the skiff, gliding and cawing.

The scouting barge was zipping along deep in the valley, the guard’s barge still flying along next to the king’s skiff.

‘What the fuck is going on?’ - said Eddie Murphy, leaning against the skiff rail.

‘You are my guest, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king - ‘And I am taking my guest hunting’

Eddie Murphy looked over the side of the railing.

‘Where the fuck are we?’ - said Eddie Murphy

The king handed the bottle of cognac to Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy took a swig.

‘We are on the planet you call earth, 67 million years before you were captured by my commandos’ - said the king

‘Why the fuck did you want to capture me?’ - said Eddie Murphy

The king dipped the skiff, and flew through a long valley - the guards barge following.

‘I love you, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king, taking back the bottle of cognac and swigging from it.

Eddie Murphy stared at the king, he was having trouble processing everything. As the king’s skiff flew through the valley, a loud hooting noise could be heard echoing around them.

‘Tyrannosaur’ - said the king - ‘A big one!’

The scouting barge was far ahead, and it pulled up and looped around to the right, high above the valley ridge and then pulled alongside the king’s skiff.

‘Your grace’ - shouted the major from the scouting barge - ‘Large female!’

‘Excellent major’ - said the king.

‘Following me in your grace’ - said the major, and the scouting barge pulled ahead and dove. The king’s skiff followed, with the guard’s barge alongside.

The loud hoots of the tyrannosaur echoed throughout the valley. The scouting barge flew over a clearing, and the giant female tyrannosaurs could be seen below.

‘Look!’ - said the king to Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy looked over the rail, and there it was. Standing 6 meters tall, and 15 meters in length the Tyrannosaur was a giant specimen, and perhaps one of the last of its kind. The Tyrannosaur had a feathery mane of dark reds. On the top of its head was a crest of giant feathers coloured orange and red. The Tyrannosaur's back was covered in a brown downy coat of feathers.

The scouting barge and the king’s skiff looped around the clearing and the Tyrannosaurs roared at the crafts high above it.

‘We must move fast’ - said the king, as the skiff landed at the far end of the clearing. The guard’s barge continued to loop around the clearing - guards manning the huge cannons. The scouting barge had landed next to the king’s skiff and the scouts were leaping from the barge. The major walked up to the king carrying a staff that was 5 meters in length.

‘Your grace’ - said the major - ‘You must move fast!’

‘Come’ - said the king to Eddie Murphy as he stepped from the skiff and took the staff from the major.

The deafening roar of the Tyrannosaurs could be heard.

‘Come Eddie Murphy’ - said the king

Eddie Murphy followed the king, looking around himself and looking very nervous.

The king wandered into the clearing, with the Tyrannosaur 100 meter away on the other side. Eddie Murphy was crouching in the bushes.

The king started prancing, and strutting, and performing some kind of strange dance. The hunting outfit with the huge feathers were designed to attract the attention of the Tyrannosaur.

The Tyrannosaur stared at the king, and took a step towards him.

‘What the fuck!’ - said Eddie Murphy to himself, hiding in the bushes.

The king continued to dance, and prance, and strut. The Tyrannosaur took another step towards the king.

‘Jesus fucking Christ man’ - said Eddie Murphy.

The scouts stood beyond the clearing, their shiny silver suits glinting in the sun.

Now the Tyrannosaur started walking towards the king, who continued to prance and dance. The Tyrannosaur increased its pace. The king pranced and danced and twirled the staff, whooping and yelping.

Now the Tyrannosaur was running.

‘Oh my fucking god’ - said Eddie Murphy

The king continued to twirl the staff and prance and dance. The Tyrannosaur was now 20 meters from the king and Eddie Murphy.

The king suddenly sprung forwards, holding the staff towards the Tyrannosaur that was running towards him. The staff extended, and shot out piercing through the Tyrannosaur’s chest. The Tyrannosaur continued to run forwards, and the king dug into the ground and held the staff. The Tyrannosaur’s legs gave way, and it fell forward. The staff bent and the Tyrannosaur fell to the ground and slid forward. The snout of the Tyrannosaur slid through the dirt, and came to a rest 1 meter from where the king was standing. The Tyrannosaur exhaled, and tried to roar, but ended making a low groan as the life left its body and then it died.

The scouts clapped, and the major stepped forward.

‘Text book, your grace’ - said the major

‘Bring me the cognac and my blade’ - said the king.

The king was handed a bottle of cognac which he guzzled, pouring some over his face. The major handed the king a huge blade, and the king pulled open the Tyrannosaur’s mouth. The king cut the Tyrannosaur’s tongue from its mouth, and then handed the bloody tongue to Eddie Murphy.

‘A tribute for you, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king

Eddie Murphy held the tongue of the Tyrannosaur in his arms, staring at it.

‘We will eat down by the river’ - said the king, as he wandered away from the clearing and down towards the river banks.

The scouts shot the body of the Tyrannosaur with the white light and shrunk it into a cube.

A barge flew out and delivered cold beer and Domino’s pizza to the king and Eddie Murphy. They ate beside the river, with guards positioned around them, and the barge hovering above.

‘How did you like the hunt, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king as he finished his 20th beer.

‘I don’t know what to make of any of this, this is fucking crazy’ - said Eddie Murphy

‘Yes’ - said the king.

‘Am I your prisoner?’ - said Eddie Murphy

The king laughed.

‘You are my guest, Eddie Murphy’ - said the king

‘When can I go home?’ - said Eddie Murphy

‘Soon, Eddie Murphy. Soon’ - said the king.

The king and Eddie Murphy finished their lunch by the river, and then walked back to the skiff. The king flew the skiff away from the clearing, and then gave Eddie Murphy the controls, showing him how to fly the skiff. Eddie Murphy flew the skiff, rising out of the valley and flying low across the canopy of the forest.

Eddie Murphy banked the skiff, and flew into a new valley zooming along the floor of the valley above a river that snaked through the redwoods.

The king drank beer and smoked a cigar whilst Eddie Murphy flew the skiff - joined by a group of pterosaurs that flew alongside, cawing.
