《Extinction》The Killing Floor

The captain walked into a huge hangar. The other alien followed him pushing the trolley with the humans on it.

The hangar was much larger than the hangar that the captain’s scouting craft had landed in. The ship that had been harvesting the Edmontosaurus had landed in the hangar. Hundreds of Edmontosaurus were inside the ship, and were being individually herded from the ship to the hangar. As each animal was herded out, it was restrained with a purple light that wrapped around its throat. Once retrained, burly aliens wandered over to the beast and attached chains to its rear legs. The paralysed beast was hoisted up, and then moved, upside down, to an area over metal grills. There it had its throat cut by an alien standing on a gantry, and bled out. The purple light disappeared from around its throat, and It joined a long line of slaughtered Edmontosaurus upside down, and swinging from chains. Their blood dripped through the metal grills on the floor.

The noise of the Edmontosaurus coming from inside the ship filled the giant hangar.

A burly, fat alien was standing watching the slaughter of the Edmontosaurus. He was taller than the captain. The burly alien was wearing a smock and a dinosaur skin apron. He had a belt, with a long, sharp knife.

‘Excuse me’ - said the captain

The burly alien turned.

‘Can I help you?’ - the burly alien said

‘Yes. I am the captain of scouting patrol group 17’ - said the captain

‘Nice to meet you captain’ - said the burly alien - ‘We are just slaughtering the herd you brought in this morning’

‘Very nice’ - said the captain - ‘That’s the last of them I am afraid’

‘Yes, such a shame. Nearly all gone now. I guess we will be leaving soon’ - said the burly alien

‘Yes, just the scraps now’ - said the captain

‘It was good while it lasted’ - said the burly alien

‘Yes. Very good!’ - said the captain - ‘But that is not what I am here for. I found these whilst we were out scouting’

The captain pointed at the humans on the trolley.

‘What are they?’ - said the burly alien, squinting at the human

‘Homo-somethings, I was wondering if we could butcher one?’ - said the captain

‘We can butcher anything you want’ - said the burly alien - ‘What do you want to do with it?’

‘Apparently the King is fond of exotic meat. I was thinking I could have one butchered and I could have the galley cook it and send it up to the royal court. Apparently they give out a trophy for finding new, exotic food that the King likes’ - said the captain

‘Sure. Which one do you want killed?’ - said the burly alien.

The captain turned to the three humans on the trolley.

‘That one’ - said the captain pointing at Zoft.

‘Alright’ - said the burly alien - ‘Oi, Shatta!’

Another burly alien who was staring at the Edmontosaurus slaughter looked over.

‘What?’ - he said.

‘Get some small chains, a large bucket, and a stand’ - shouted the burly alien.

Shatta came over with a stand with chains attached to it, and a large bucket. The stand had a winch attached to the back.

‘What the fuck are those?’ - said Shatta looking at the humans.

‘Exotic meat’ - said the burly alien.

The burly aliens lifted Zoft off of the trolley, and using their long knives they cut off his clothes and boots. Shatta attached the chains to Zoft’s ankles, and then turned the winch, hoisting his naked body up so he was hanging upside down over the large bucket.

‘Alright. Thanks Shatta’ - said the burly alien

The burly alien walked over to Zoft and examined his neck and throat, and then slit his throat. The purple light around Zoft’s throat disappeared and Zoft bled out into the bucket.

The aliens stood and watched.

‘Alright Shatta, gut and skin it’ - said the burly alien.

Shatta set about gutting and stripping the skin off of Zoft’s body.

‘That’s some lovely muscle formations’ - said Shatta as he worked.

The burly alien pulled over a box which was chilled, and after Shatta had finished gutting and stripping Zoft’s corpse, he joined in and they fileted the body - removing all of the flesh.

The burly alien put some of Zoft’s raw flesh in its mouth, and chewed it.

‘Nice. Salty and tender’ - said the burly alien.

Shatta did the same.

‘Oh, that’s lovely’ - said Shatta

The chilled box was filled with the meat from Zoft’s body.

‘Keep some for yourselves’ - said the captain.

‘Oh, thank you very much captain’ - said the burly alien, taking some lumps of flesh from the chilled box.

‘Thank you very much’ - said the captain

The captain and the other alien wheeled the trolley with the two remaining humans and the chilled box from the hangar. Zoft’s bloody skeleton swung from the chains over a bucket full of his blood and organs.
