《Daiyu's Ascent》29. Untold Memories

Tang Daiyu scurried out of Riluo Residence after him.
"Bei Qing? Is the Thunder Cloud Sword Sect gifted in memory recollection or something?"
"No, not exactly. Despite the sect's name, they're more attuned to the mind and spirituality than weapons. Swift Breeze, on the other hand, is more attuned to strength and weaponry."
"Oh, so you're saying they might have a mind technique that could help me?"
Liang Yingzhou nodded and pointed to in between her eyebrows. "There's a technique unique to Thunder Cloud Sword Sect. It deals with the Third Eye Chakra. This chakra has to do with insight and is blocked by illusions. Sometime in your past, someone blocked yours. To know the truth, we have to unlock it. It's your best shot."
"Okay."
They walked together to the front gates. Just outside of Swift Breeze Sect's gates, he suddenly stopped.
Confused, she asked, "Zhou-ge? Why aren't we going?"
He put a finger to his lips and whispered, "Hush. I think we're being watched."
She froze and tried to not obviously look around.
Liang Yingzhou called out, "Who's there?"
Suddenly, they heard a light-hearted chuckle.
"You're very good, Master Liang. It's no wonder why there are so many praises of you."
Looking up, they watched Bei Qing as he flew down from a hidden spot above. He straightened out his light grey clothes and bowed respectfully.
"Forgive me, Master Liang. I was simply testing you. I hope you don't take offense."
Liang Yingzhou waved it off. "I'll forgive it because we have a more pressing matter. Ah Yue and I were actually on our way to find you."
Bei Qing's eyes widened. "Oh really? What could be so urgent that you needed to search for me?"
"Your Heavenly Sight Technique."

Bei Qing choked. "What?"
He cleared his throat and took a deep breath. After he had composed himself, he asked, "Why do you need that?"
"You should know better than me what Heavenly Sight Technique can do."
"But are you sure Qiao Yue needs this? It could do more harm than good."
Tang Daiyu stepped forward and bowed politely.
"With all due respect, Master Bei, but I need to remember. Right now, I don't care about the consequences."
Bei Qing sighed, "Alright. If that's what you really want."
She nodded. He motioned for them to follow and lead the way down into Nanchang. Liang Yingzhou and Tang Daiyu remained a few steps behind.
As they were walking, he murmured to her, "He will be able to see your memories. Are you sure you want to go ahead with this?"
Without hesitation, she replied, "Yes."
She turned her head to look at him. "Zhou-ge, I don't care who knows anymore. I just want to get my revenge and bring some peace to my family."
He sighed sadly, "Very well, Ah Daiyu."
~~~
They finally arrived in southern Nanchang. Bei Qing waved his arm grandly.
"Welcome to Thunder Cloud Sword Sect."
Tang Daiyu looked up and gazed at the brass characters on the light grey paifang. Her eyes flicked back to Bei Qing.
Smiling kindly, he said, "Come on in."
Liang Yingzhou and Tang Daiyu followed him across the threshold and into the manor. Bei Qing led them to the very back of the property. There was a small man-made pond with brightly colored koi fish swimming around and a few bamboo benches circling the pond.
He explained, "This is the best place for meditation, in my humblest opinion."
"It doesn't matter where we are," Liang Yingzhou said dismissively. "She just needs her memories unlocked."
"Alright."
Bei Qing motioned for her to take a seat. Tang Daiyu fluffed out her light pink clothes and sat down on one of the benches. Bei Qing sat down on the same bench next to her. Liang Yingzhou remained standing, just behind her, watching like a concerned father. Bei Qing reached out and put his right index and middle fingers in between her eyebrows. He closed his eyes, and she did the same. After murmuring a few words, their surroundings faded away as he used Heavenly Sight to access her locked memories through the Third Eye Chakra.
~~~
They sat still for hours, but every once in a while, Tang Daiyu visibly flinched. Her body quivered, and Liang Yingzhou was ready to stop the process. But he knew that if he did so, it posed even more of a risk to her. He worried that perhaps he was wrong to have brought her to Bei Qing.
Finally, their hands fell away, and both of them opened their eyes. He stared at Tang Daiyu for a few seconds.
"So that's why you were asking about Chancellor Ru and my father the other day."
She nodded. "Yes. Thank you, Master Bei."
"Well, Empress Tang, I'm glad that I could be of help to you,” he said, slightly cold. “Now, I need to see to my disciples. Master Liang, Empress Tang, I'll take my leave first."
He stood up, bowed respectfully, and left. Liang Yingzhou came around and immediately took his vacated seat.
"Ah Daiyu, did it work? What did you see?"
She looked at him.
With a furious monotone, a snarl curled her lips as she said, "Don't worry, Zhou-ge, I remember everything now."
"Ah Daiyu?" his eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
A determined resolution set in her eyes.
"Trust me, the entire Feng family will regret the day they decided to threaten my father."

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
