《The Planes Walkers》37. The Planes Walkers

The cold air was a brisk feeling to wake Jet up. He jerked up and looked around. He was in the middle of a crowd that all looked up to the tower.
"It is done then?" the Queen's voice asked as the crowd parted for her and her horse.
Jet noticed Heyvl, Irina, and Nadreen were all next to him. He still felt pretty weak. He also didn't feel any of the other Elemental power he had gained inside the tower's portal.
"Wrathel, the Emperor, is no more," Heyvl told her. He was already bandaged around his torso.
"He is dead," Irina added.
A cheer spread throughout the people. The Queen was helped down off her horse. She smiled as she looked down to Jet. "I'm glad to see you made it out too, Jet. None of this would have been possible without you."
Jet's face turned red and he smiled. "I just did what I had to do."
The Queen sternly nodded and then looked back up to the tower. "And I need to do what is best for the world. This tower needs to be destroyed. We don't want any repeats popping up and we also want to dismantle it carefully. Any idea where to start?"
"Well, I practically built it. I believe I could help you, your majesty," Jet replied.
"We both know the ins and outs," Nadreen added with a smile.
"When the time comes, I will call on both of you. For now, I want Calbar and the people of the Empire to know that they are safe and now part of the Kingdom's care. You four deserve a rest. I suggest you see Rujar. Perhaps you could go back to Lonava," the Queen explained and then turned towards the vast majority of the crowds. "These four have gone to the Planes and back to save our lands and people. They are the Planes Walkers that have saved the world."

Cheering began to echo through Calbar's streets. Before the Queen took her leave, the tower made a loud noise. It echoed throughout the streets. Everyone became silent as they looked to it. The massive black stone began to crack and sway. Jet jumped up and began to push through the crowd, barely able to breathe just yet. Heyvl followed, with Nadreen and Irina close behind.
As Jet reach the entrance the tower started to crumble in on itself. Jet tried to continue inside, but the other three held him back, knowing it would be too dangerous now. Jet fell to his knees as tears filled his eyes. The tower collapsed, and dust bellowed out into the snowy city.
"My brother..." Jet managed to say.
"Jet! Look!" Heyvl cried out.
Jet looked up to the tower. As the dust began to settle, a figure was walking out of the almost completely destroyed entrance. "Jet?" a familiar voice asked.
Jet couldn't believe his eyes. The dust cleared and revealed Dustan walking towards him. It was as if no time had passed since that night. Jet rushed to his older brother and embraced him. "Dustan!" he cried.
"Whoa. What's going on Jet? Why is everyone staring at us?" he questioned, but still hugging Jet back.
"The Emperor," Jet said as he let go of his brother and wiped his eyes, "he killed you that night."
Dustan's eyes widened. He looked around. "And you gathered all these people to save me?"
"Something like that," Heyvl said to Jet's brother.
Dustan smiled and hugged his brother again. "I believe there's a lot of explaining to do." They all laughed.
"Perhaps we can go to Lonava?" Jet asked as he turned to Heyvl.
"I suppose my parents want to see me, now that I'm a Planes Walker and all," Heyvl added with a cheeky smile. "You're all welcome to come."

"I've never been to this Lonava. Is it nice there?" Nadreen asked.
"Sounds better than here," Dustan added as he looked to the snow covered city.
"It would be a relaxing, and warmer change," Irina replied with a smile.
"Warm does sound nice," Nadreen said as she looked to Jet.
"What do you say, Jet? Want to go home with me and relax while we catch your brother up?" Heyvl asked his friend.
Jet stood up straight. He looked back at the now destroyed tower. "Yeah, I think so," Jet replied with a smile towards the others. "But I we do need to go to Ahrura after. I'm sure Dustan and I have another journey of our own."
Heyvl put his hand on Jet's shoulder. Jet could sense that Heyvl understood why. The Lonavian gave Jet a nod, and Jet smiled back. The five began to walk through the crowd of the Queen's army, as well as confused but happy Calbar citizens. It wouldn't be long before Jet returned home and found his parents.

They Are Our Smols
You’ve read They Are Smol. You’ve enjoyed They Are Smol (if you haven’t, well, prepare to not enjoy this one either). But this is smols like you’ve not seen them before. This is extreme smolness with a lemon twist: smols fucked up big time in this one, and Earth, well… Earth is empty of smols. At least the ayys hope so, because it’s fallout time back there. The ones that got away — and let’s face it, it was all of them that were left — had no place to go. Homeless, smol and needing protectings, they were taken in. For the lucky ayys out there, they’re our smols. This is a not-so-serious slice of life alternate universe where the entire population of Earth, what was left after the dead man’s switch was flipped and the nukes successfully irradiated the planet, were evacuated en masse and then taken in by the galactic civilization at large. I’ll probably write a few more in this silly, comfy alternate timeline to expand on what’s different, but don’t take it too seriously, okay? I do not take credit for the original setting, this story is set in an alternate version of the 'They are Smol' universe, written by the one, the only u/tinyprancinghorse.TPH takes many forms and is known by many names. He is like Nyarlathotep, only smaller and cuter and more prancey. TPH also has a Website and a Patreon.

The Lucky Secret
Five years ago, the Tower appeared in the Arctic circle, and people started to disappear. Not that any of this affected Cillian James, who was too busy keeping the lights on with webnovels he didn't want to write to really concern himself with some omniscient tower kidnapping people at random. That is, until Cillian is kidnapped himself, and now he has some very big problems on his hands. Namely, surviving the Tower and its homicidal salamanders and zombies and weirdly affectionate cats, and learning the truth behind the existence of the amulet titled "The Writer's Secret". Cilian isn't particularly athletic, given he spent six years glued to a computer chair, and the Tower can only give him so much strength before he's considered a lost cause, and he's not prepared in the slightest for this. He's a bit weak, he hates killing, and spends more time screaming than he does actually fighting, but if there's one thing he's got going for him, it's his impressive self-perseveration skills. But is surviving truly enough, if it changes you into someone you don't recognize? How much will he have to sacrifice before he can even call himself Cillian?
