《The Planes Walkers》5. The Spirit Plane

The land was now covered in mist. Jet wasn't sure where he was now. It wasn't Calbar. The mist was green and made everything else around look green as well.
"Where am I?" Jet questioned out loud.
The air was cold. Jet could see his breath as he exhaled.
"Hello?" he called out.
There was only silence. He decided he couldn't just sit around. Jet stood up from the moss-covered ground. He noticed his scarf was gone. Wrathel still had it. That made him angry as the memories seemed to flood back. Dustan's lifeless face seemed to stare back at him each time he closed his eyes.
"Don't think about the memories that will haunt you," a voice said.
Jet opened his eyes and looked around. There wasn't anyone there.
"Who's there?" Jet asked.
"One of many spirits here," the voice said back. A transparent green figure appeared out of the mist. The smoky figure looked like the aura that had appeared around Dustan's hands.
"Spirits? Like the Element?"
"Quite."
The spirit waved his hand. The mist cleared around them, but kept the distant unknown landscape a pale green.
"So where is this?" Jet asked.
"Your Element seemed to have awoken just in time for you to enter the Spirit Plane."
Jet looked around. He wasn't sure what an Elemental Plane would look like for Spirit Elementalists. "Did my brother send me here with his Element?" Jet asked, not fully understanding the spirit.
"You brought yourself here, Jet."
Jet looked at his own hands, expecting to see the Elemental aura. There wasn't anything.
"How do I get out?"
"We are just an Element. You must do that on your own," the spirit said.
The spirit vanished, fading in with the mist. Jet began to walk into the mist. It wasn't thick enough to hinder his vision, but the green hue to everything was off putting.
The Spirit Plane continued to go on endlessly. It didn't stop Jet from trying to get somewhere, or anywhere.
"You need to use your Element, if you expect to get anywhere," another spirit said, appearing near Jet. The spirit floated next to him as he walked.
"I don't know how," Jet replied without taking his eyes away from his path.
"Well you call on the energy that the spirits provide."
Jet frowned. He wasn't sure how to do that. It wasn't even long ago when he didn't know there were Spirit Elementalists or Soul Elementalists.
"Here let me show you," the spirit said as it moved to be in front of Jet.
Jet stopped. The spirit held its hand out. Jet was hesitant but took it. The spirit smiled, or at least Jet thought it did.

"Now, I'm sure you can feel the Elemental energy," it said to Jet.
Jet could. He immediately felt energy coursing through him. He was shocked by it. He had never imagined what it would feel like to be an Elementalist, and now he was one.
"It'll be a bit different in the material plane, your own world. But it is pretty much the same idea. You draw energy from this Plane. That's what all Elementalist do. The power and Element come from the Planes, while the Elementalist is the one who summons it and controls it."
"I had no idea that's how it worked. Elementalists aren't common where I'm from."
"Well the planes will always be there for you. You can use your Element anywhere you need it."
Jet was starting to feel more confident as the spirit explained. "Now use it," it told him.
Jet looked up to the mist covered sky. His hands and arms began to light up with the spirit aura. He let go of the spirit. He was going to try to get out.
"Here goes nothing," Jet mumbled under his breath.
With a running start, Jet jumped into the air. Concentrating his new-found Element, he reached his hand out. Almost instantly, a spirit appeared and grabbed his hand. The spirit swung him around once. Jet used the momentum to propel himself further into the air. He was hoping he would open another portal the same way he did last time; by falling.
The air rushed through his hair and around him. The aura swayed rapidly as he began to fall from the height. He tried to focus his Element with the idea of a portal. Nothing was happening. He was approaching the mossy floor faster than he anticipated. Jet was expecting to hit the ground, but he was stopped by a spirit. A spirit caught him before he hit the floor.
After a few seconds, the spirit disappeared and Jet fell to the floor with a thud. Jet mumbled an ouch as he stood back up. He was beginning to realize that spirits could only help him in short bursts. That's why it let him go after catching him.
He decided to try again. This time, Jet tried to just run forward. He used his Element to propel himself. Spirits were giving him boosts of speed as he ran through them. He then tried to open a portal again. The pale green aura began to form in front of him, swaying back and forth, as it attempted to open a path to the material plane. Jet lost focus for a second and ended up tripping.
Sitting up once again, Jet sighed. He couldn't give up, but he figured he was going about it the wrong way. He stood up and looked around. No more spirits were there to give him advice.

Jet began to walk once again. He wondered what spirits were exactly. He saw how easily it was for Wrathel to kill Dustan by ripping a "soul" out of him, but then what was a spirit? Did people have both a soul and a spirit?
The thoughts began to confuse him. He shook his head and decided to not think about it for now. He had to find a way to get out of the plane and get back to Calbar. Wrathel had to pay.
"Jet," a voice boomed over the Spirit Plane.
Jet looked around. It didn't sound like the spirits he had talked to before.
"I am the ancient of the spirit plane," the voice replied.
"What's an ancient?" Jet asked.
The mist seemed to move away from Jet. As it cleared, the land changed to a cliff side. A massive crevice laid before Jet.
"One of the first dwellers of an Elemental Plane," the ancient replied, its voice coming out from the crevice.
Jet looked down into the darkness. Even in the deep black, the green mist seemed to reside. "Are you a spirit?" Jet asked.
"Some may say that, some may not."
Jet frowned. He looked, puzzled, around the darkness. He was trying to locate the voice.
"If you want to leave here, you'll have to prove yourself. Use your Element to cross this gap, and reach the material plane," the ancient explained.
Jet looked across the crevice. He could see a portal-like shape on the edge. "That's all then?"
"Yes, Jet. We rescued you, now you must escape."
"I thought I brought myself here..."
"Depends how you see it."
Jet sighed. He looked down into the crevice and then back to the portal. He knew he could use spirits to get across the gap. He prepared to jump over the gap when he suddenly felt a pain shoot through him. Jet grunted as he knelt over, gripping his chest.
The ancient laughed. It sent ripples through the air. Jet looked around with only one eye open. He tried to brace himself from the pain.
"Elementalists are not supposed to be in the Plane like this. You'll soon die if you don't leave."
Jet's vision began to pulse. The edges were already blurry. He knew he had to hurry and get out of the Spirit Plane. The only way was how the ancient said: across the gap.
With no time to waste, Jet dashed towards the crevice. He leaped out into the opening. He began to fall as another burst of pain rushed through him.
"You will die like your brother," the ancient said, its voice even louder down in the crevice.
Jet couldn't accept that. It was happening so fast. First his brother, then this. He had to get out and stop Wrathel from using the knowledge of Spirit Elementalists against others.
Jet looked up and reached his hand out. The aura burst in huge waves around his arms. A spirit appeared and grabbed him. He propelled off of the spirit and projected himself into the air. His vision was becoming more blurry as he moved. The green mist began to roll back in.
Another surge of pain. Jet tensed as he reached one hand up, while the other went to his chest. Another spirit appeared and grabbed him. With a toss, Jet was half way across the crevice. He spun around, letting another spirit help continue to propel him.
Jet eventually fell down to the other ledge. He grabbed the ledge and pulled himself up. He collapsed on the ground. The portal was several steps away, but the pain was getting too great for him to stand.
"You must escape, or you will die," the ancient's voice boomed.
Jet began to crawl to towards the portal. His arms and hands were still erupting in spiritual aura. His fingers gripped into the thick moss that covered the ground.
"You'll just be another spirit among the planes."
Jet began to blink longer and longer. His vision then suddenly went black. He wasn't sure if we was going to make it out of the plane.
After a few seconds, Jet was able to see. A spirit was dragging him towards the portal. He looked up to the spirit. Its face was almost impossible to see. It was just a transparent green figure. It felt familiar, but Jet wasn't too sure.
"Dustan?" Jet managed to ask out loud.
The spirit looked back as it continued to drag him. It was featureless. Jet wasn't sure if it smiled or not, but he felt it did. Before his vision went completely black again, he reached the portal.
Jet opened his eyes to the sky he was used to. Though this time it wasn't covered in gray clouds. He stood up and looked around. He was in a tall grass field.
"Welcome Spirit Elementalist," a voice said.
Jet turned around to see an old man standing with a walking stick. The man was looking directly at Jet.

A series of Transmigrated Misadventures.
This is an original story about a sadistic and scheming human and his defective sometimes malfunctioning cube about how they travel to different worlds with different settings where they make people's lives miserable. Zhang Fei was anything but a normal person. He was a sadistic human who made the lives of his book characters quite miserable so when he died he was bounded to a system by The voice and entered the realm network. He got a second chance at life and could now practically make the character's lives a living hell but he soon found out that there is a downside to being a sadist as well. that's all folks , so the novel is a bit different from the normal system novels you read, the Main charachter isn't a good guy like in most novels, well he isnt a bad guy either, he is just a sadist. But the point is i tried to make the story as different as i could while still keeping the system/trnasmigration formula with it, so i don't know how you will interpret the story but i hope you still read it and enjoy it. i am not chinese so i might have butchered up the chinese names in the novel. and first time writing so if its a little bad please forgive me. And almost forgot any constructive criticism is appreciated. as it helps me know what i am doing right and what i am doing wrong and i have also posted the same story on wattapad.com. enjoy. Arc 1- [The Cube, The Sadist and The Villainess.] (COMPLETED) Arc 2-[The Lonely Island] (ONGOING) Writing in Quotation marks-"For dialogues of characters" Italic writing- For inner monologues and thoughts Bold writing in brackets- [For the dialogue of system]
