《Double Trouble》9. Jordan (Part 2)

After work had passed, Hilary and Jordan left to go to a familiar hangout place: The Midnight Delight. The two had a meal outside on the patio, since it was packed inside.

They picked a white table with periwinkle doilies and a cherry red umbrella perched on top, sat on caramel-colored seats, and took out the menus to read. Jordan and Hilary both ordered Strawberry Shortcakes with milk on the side.

Hilary had a feeling that this couldn't have been a coincidence that they both have their favorite hangout and food. Jordan recalled how it was normal for people to have similar interests like that. Jordan hoped she didn't think he lied to impress her with this friendly 'date.'

"Hey, do you hate your life?" A female voice called out from a distance.

Jordan turned and noticed the TV displays that depicted the female android talking about the ad again from afar.

Hilary rolled her eyes and groaned. "Not that stupid ad again."

"Do you know it?" Jordan turned back to Hilary.

"Yeah, have you not heard of that wishing app that gets played a lot?"

"No, is it real?"

"Well, it used to be." Hilary rested her arm on the table. "But it's discontinued. They must've forgotten to put it off the air. Shame, because I was thinking of making a wish myself." She muttered.

A waiter arrived with drinks and placed them on the table before leaving. "What was it you were going to wish for?" Jordan stared at his glass.

Hilary gulped milk and exhaled before replying. "It's selfish, so I doubt it would even work."

"Well, I'm sure if you believe hard enough—"

"If you only knew, you'd understand." Hilary interrupted. "And besides, I heard a nasty rumor, which if you dare break any of the guideline rules..."

Jordan's stomach lurched as he inched forward in his chair. He clutched his tummy tight and held his breath. Oh no, not again!

"Is it stomach pains again?" Hilary questioned.

"Yeah, sorry, but hang on a moment, I'll be right back..." Jordan got up from his seat and dashed to the nearest bathroom.

Jordan rested on the toilet seat again, this time, waiting a little longer to see if the pain would go away real soon. He pondered what went wrong with him, as he never felt this beforehand.

Butterflies formed in his stomach, as he hoped nobody would notice him in this state. Just as he was about to question if things could get worse, the phone once again rang out loud. Jordan felt his blood boil while snatching the phone up to check the text; this had better be good. When he looked at it, his eyes widened upon reading the rest of the message.

Jordan ran out of the restroom in a panic; he had to hurry as fast as possible. By the time he made it back to the patio, Jordan had seen it was too late. The place was barren, not a single person visible in sight. It shouldn't be, though; how long had he been in there for?

Where'd Hilary run off to? Jordan thought, looking around. Also, where did everyone go?

Unknown giggling rose in the air, as Jordan glanced in all directions, wondering where the sound came from. A shadow emerged from the planter wall as it glared at him. Jordan gave chase to the shadow, which in turn, ran off to avoid contact.

"Get back here! Why are you running?" Jordan yelled. The shadow didn't answer as it led him toward gates and a small hill.

Jordan lost sight of the shadow, as he looked around, wondering where he's at now. He looked up at the sign above the gates: The Angelwing Cemetery. He walked around, wondering where the unknown source ran off to, and why he ended up here again. Why did it lead him here, of all places?

Jordan stopped in his tracks upon noticing a common gravestone. Heavy breathing occurred from behind him; Jordan turned to get the drop on the person and find out their identity. He wondered if he got duped or was led here by someone else. Before his mind could process anything else, a blunt force hit him in the head, knocking him out and causing him to fade to black.
