《Double Trouble》5. Stanley (Part 2)

Stanley finally made it back safe and sound. He took the nearest towel to dry his hair and headed up to the laundry room near his room to take care of his clothes and shoes. On the way there, Stanley could hear a faint sobbing from above the floor, which made Stanley’s heart continue to sink.
Stanley felt sorry for making her miserable, but he thought he brought it upon himself for trusting and believing Jordan on every account. Stanley made it clear to take him down that man no matter what.
No matter what. The thought of those words lingered in his mind; that gave him an idea.
Stanley rushed back to his room and locked the doors. Trying to catch his breath again, he took out his phone to open an app store. Now might be a good idea to use the wish app finally. Unfortunately, the phone revealed the founders had discontinued the requesting app.
Great, just when I needed it the—
A loud knock banged on the door, startling Stanley and causing him to jump and turn around quickly. The doorknob got knocked off the door as the locks broke, and the door swung open violently.
Stanley fell back on the floor as he crawled away. He looked up at the imposing figure, standing beyond the door as lightning struck down to reveal Jordan, striking him down with his angry and glaring eyes. Jordan stomped over and grabbed Stanley by the shirt collar, shoving him against the wall, and pressed his hands against his throat.
“What were you thinking?” Jordan asked bitterly.
“W—What do you mean?” Stanley questioned weakly.
“Don’t play dumb with me!” Jordan snapped at him. “I know you’re the one that made Hilary cry!” His tone of voice grew colder. “What did you do?”

“I... don’t know what you’re talking about,” Stanley said with a wicked smile. “You see, I’m not the one who two-timed Hilary and Melody...”
“What? Are you out of your mind? I didn’t do such—”
“Liar! I don’t know what you’re up to, but you won’t get away with this!” Stanley’s voice squeaked as it got raspier by the second, and his eyes and skin slowly changed to blue and purple.
Jordan sighed and let the man go as he inhaled and exhaled, while grabbing his neck in exasperation. Jordan approached the door, then turned to face Stanley on the floor.
“I wanted to be a good person and set you up with some other woman.” He snared. “Why did you have to fall for Hilary, of all people?”
“What are you talking about?” Stanley asked, trying to keep up with his composure.
“My boss is right; you don’t care about Hilary at all, not like I do.” Jordan turned away from him. “This means war. You better be careful, because pretty soon, I’m going to get back at you.”
“But wait, if you hate me so bad, then why don’t you just kill me right here?”
“Believe me, I want to, but I can’t.” Jordan slammed the door shut and walked away, leaving Stanley all by himself.
“What did he mean by that?” Stanley questioned himself.
Stanley threw the covers over his face and tried to sleep, but the lingering thoughts of Jordan plagued his mind, keeping him up all throughout the night. In the middle of the evening, his phone rang loudly, spooking Stanley awake. He begrudgingly got up from the bed and checked the phone, only to find another text. However, the message seemed to be from an unknown sender.

Anonymous: “Go ahead and leave your room in the morning. Because when you do, your room will be mine.”
“What the heck?” Stanley tilted his head in confusion. It must be spam or something. Stanley ignored the text, deleted it, and headed back to sleep, or at least tried to, anyway.

A Fate Set in Stone (On Hold)
After dying and making his way into the afterlife, our protagonist happens to have a stroke of good luck. With the help of the substitute god of death, he's given a second shot at life in a world run by gods who probably played too many video games as kids. Monsters, magic, dungeons, bandits, and all that good stuff is there, except it turns out to be much different than Jed initially expected.(I picked some generic tags since this is my first story and I am not 100% sure where it is going to go. Mature warning is only there for some less-than-polite language.)
