《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 37 - Wind and Fire Part 1*

"He is dead. My son is dead. He died while he was still inside his mother. It seems that while the flower helped, it wasn't enough. 'Humans and dragons are just not compatible' Is what the doctors told me. I went nuts. My crying beautiful wife in the background, my dead son on a table and those doctors that told me I would never be a father were just to much for me to bear.
I wonder how many people died in that town that day? When I was back to my senses most of the buildings were already burning to the ground while the ever so hungry green hell-fire ate everything without any mercy. I regret this.
A bit.
I won't give up though. My son WILL be born. I WILL find a way to make it happen.
No matter the cost."
- From Jeff Rutherions 'How I raised the strongest!'
*Sirius POV*
The air is filled with so much tension that I could literally taste it, even though I don't have a tongue. After the red-headed shorty announced the beginning of this battle everybody quieted down. We just keep staring at each other for now. They are probably waiting for me to do the first move, but I don't know if I should do so.
I have no idea how strong those guys are. The green guy sent three people to 'wipe out' my troops, which means he has confidence in his and his allies skills. So, A-Class? Probably. Which means their levels should be over 1000.
That's bad.
While I should be able to face a weaker A-Class, thanks to my High Magic Ranks as well as my great skills, I'm not confident enough to fight against someone whose stronger than the average A-Class adventurer.
This is so annoying. I really regret not having the Aya-clone linked to be already. I was waiting for Saxin to get some information out of her while I was going around, collecting souls. After all I plan to imbue the Major Cold Soul into her body so she'll probably lose all of her memories.

Well, there's no use getting upset about this now. I have to think of a fighting strategy. Doro became pretty strong in the past few weeks and should be about as strong as he was when I met him. So I should be able to sent him out into the front while I attack from behind. Yeah, let's do that.
I signal Doro and he immediately understands what I want from him thanks to our connection. He sprints forward and draws his black obsidian-club. We got this nice gift from Saxin. This thing is incredible hard and a lot heavier than what it looks like.
Doro swings his black weapon and tries to go for the shorty since he is nearer to him. Said shorty did something very unexpected. All of a sudden, his red hair was replaced by actual flames and his axe started glowing in a bright and hot red. He swings his axe against Doros weapon, which results in both of them getting thrown a few metres apart by a small explosion between the weapons.
"HAHAHA I LIKE THIS ONE! HIS MINE" (Kasai)
"*Grunt* Doro will smash little bug!" (Doro)
I didn't think such a tiny body would hold enough power to withstand a strike of the undead ogre. Doro once again attacks the small guy and they start exchanging blows with each other. I notice that the man in green doesn't even try to help his comrade out, instead he is completely focused on me.
"Do you intend to split me and my servant apart? So we can fight one on one? You are not much of a team player, huh?" (Sirius)
"Heeeeeh? What are you accusing me for? I'm not really planing to do anything, I just go with the flow you know?" (Kaze)
Somehow this guy really gets on my nerves. Let's stop talking with him before I lose anymore sanity. Let's just do this.
I start my attack by casting 'Frost Prison' on him. Before the ice reaches him though he jumps into the air. The alarming thing is the speed as well as the height of his jump. I notice that the wind around him seems to help him out? A wind mage? No, he wouldn't carry a sword if he was a mage. Seems like he has some strange wind related skill. Well, that explains his title.

Before I can continue wondering about his ability, he sends a few blades of wind into my direction by cutting into the air in front of him with his curved sword. He does this while still being mid air. I quickly try to get out of the way, but the speed of those blades are way to great for me to dodge completely.
You took 219 Damage! 12471 Health left!
Well the damage I received was pretty low though. I'm going to guess he just wanted to test me with that attack or something along those lines. I use the fact that he's still mid air and shoot a few Ice shards at him. Sadly, none hit. It's not that I missed, but he dodged. He used his wind power to fling himself to the side when my shards reached him. After landing he looks at me and starts talking again.
"Heeeeeh? What was that? Ice Magic? I was so surprised I used a weak attack! Hmm? you still got hit? How pathetic, heeeeeh?" (Kaze)
Fuck this guy.
I fire a few 'Dark Orbs' at him but he just dodges all of them with incredible speed while grinning and laughing. It's pretty plain to see that he just wants to play around with me. So you think I'm to slow? Wanna see some fast magic?
"Be the only lightning that darkens the night, Shadowbolt!" (Sirius)
I cast the advance level dark-spell Shadowbolt at him, which is a fast moving bolt made out of dark magic. It was good to level my dark magic alongside my necromancy. Good thing I didn't focus on one of them, huh?
Kaze didn't expect my rather quick spell and looks surprised as a bolt of pure blackness quickly travels from my hands to towards his chest. He tries to dodge, but is to slow. I get a direct hit on him and hear a small scream, while feeling rather satisfied.
"Heeeeeh? So you can use advance dark magic as well? Didn't expe-" (Kaze)
I don't let him end his sentence and cast another Bolt at him. This time chantless. The reason I didn't do it chantless before is so I can surprise him. Well, it succeeds and he takes another hit which staggers him back a few steps. This guy is way to careless, what's wrong with him? Well, it looks like I can do this.
"Hee- Heeeeeh? Seems like I have to start getting serious here. Well let's really start this!" (Kaze)
He starts to run in circles around me. Quickly. Very quickly. While doing so he swings around his sword, but no blades of wind are coming towards me this time. What is he planning? Wouldn't it be much easier. To just simply use this speed to run up to me and cut of a few limps? What's with this behaviour?
"Hehe, let's hear you scream while my wind cuts apart your flesh!" (Kaze)
Suddenly, thousands of wind blades form a tornado around me that quickly gets smaller and smaller. After a while it reaches me and a message pops up.
You are inside the 'Bloody Storm' and will take 600 Damage per second! Because of your missing flesh and other soft tissue, this damage gets reduced to 11
…
Seriously? Am I his natural counter?
…
Nice.

My Girlfriend, the Necromancer
The power of the Orb cleaves the skies and shatters the earth. It heralds the advent of a new era, one where humanity is no longer at the top of the food chain and we must rise to the challenge when faced with our own extinction as a species. I could hardly care less. All I ever wanted was to love my Allie, to grow old and wrinkly by her side as I held her hand before taking my last breath on this green earth. To have our love echo through the ages, an ode to the last great love story on the planet, one that would endure the end of humanity, the breaking of the world, and even defy the dread summons of Death itself. It’s said that when the gods unleash their fury upon mortal kind, they grant their wishes. Well, crap. This is a gritty end of the world survival story with modern fantasy/romance/game-like elements in it. The main focus will be character development while stats and menus are there as a fun vehicle to empower the imagination. This is a work in progress and I deeply appreciate any helpful suggestions, so please don't be shy with input! Currently posting at least one chapter per week.
