《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 30 - Of Bones and Blood Part 2*

“We were here when the first stars went out. With disgust, we looked at the thing we gave birth to while trying to create a god. At first, we decided it was a failure and wanted to kill it, but we were wrong.

So, wrong.

Its appearance was like an Armageddon that came to destroy us all, it's stare the apocalypse itself and it's coming was the end. It judged us, his creators and it judged us guilty of a sin none of us could understand. It decided to bring the end and so it all began.

Its fangs tore apart the earth as his tail sliced mountains in half. His jaws devoured whole kingdoms while his claws ripped apart nations. His wings released a miasma that slowly killed millions and his eyes burned the souls of the ones he judged. While raging and destroying it let out a laugh that broke the minds of the innocent ones and stirred up the sinners.

After bringing ruin to this world for a hundred years only a small number of people still lived. We ran away, deep into the caves of our world. Whenever the spawn of this thing found us we kept running and running until we reached the very core of our planet and it was quite a beautiful sight, one more beautiful than the young ones under us have ever seen.

But now we had nowhere to run to and so the end came. It showed us just how trivial this hunt was for him and it showed us true despair. The women cried as the men soon did the same, all while listening to the mad laughter of the beast and its children.

And then, it spoke.

Oh, and how it spoke.

I'll never forget it's voice. It crawled up my spine like a centipede, slowly ripping apart my flesh as it drilled itself into my body and into my soul. I felt fissures on my very being and at the end my sanity was shattered. It was at this time that I lost all reason. It was at this time that I knew I had to do what I did.

I killed them myself. All of them. The warriors that were proud of their strength, the mages that have always seen themselves as the cleverest ones, the children that did not know what happened, the mothers that were as holy to us as gods, the innocent that never deserved any of this and the holders of sin that brought this to all of us.

I killed every single human that remained in this world, myself excluded and you know what? They all thanked me. With tears in their eyes they behaved as I was the messiah himself. Mothers kissed my hand after I used it to snap the neck of their children and good men hugged me while I was sullied by the dried blood of their best friends. After all, it was the right thing to do for to be killed was our only salvation.

Our only hope. A hope that could not be granted to the killer himself. I readied myself for his rage, thinking it's going to be fine but then it screamed.

Oh, and how it screamed.

All of his toys were taken and all he had left was me, a small being with no sanity left he could play with. The beast destroyed my body to make sure that I won't be lost as well and put my mind into a whirlpool of magic, created simply to bring me pain. Agony struck what was left of me as magic bit of small bits of myself. It was never enough to truly kill me so I stayed like that for hundreds of years. Or for thousands? It might be millions.

And all this time I had to scream. I had to scream because of my pain, because of my despair, because of my grieve and out of regret because of our stupidity and arrogance while creating this thing, that brought doom to all of us.

I had to scream so much, but I couldn't.

After all, I had no mouth left.

And then, on one day after years of pure agony I heard it. I finally heard it.

My own scream.”

-From the thoughts of the Lost One

* Sirius POV *

A whole month? Really? I could have sworn Saxin let that bomb drop on me two days ago or so. Well, I spent a lot of time inside my head I guess, but two months? Shit, maybe I do have a problem?

Anyway, I was thinking about this whole marriage thing all this time. It seemed like I made a major mistake. Maybe I shouldn't go into politics after all? Well it doesn't matter right now, the important part is what my conclusion is when it comes to miss spider here.

The thought of marrying her at first seemed horrible to me. I mean, look at her! She's a giant fucking spider, bigger than a dragon! She's not even one of the hybrids but a complete spider instead! So, I thought about a way to decline kindly, but then I realized something.

It's not like we are going to have a physical relationship, right? I mean I don't have the capability to well, do 'it'. And even if I could, the size difference alone kills any way for us to interact on such a level with each other. In other words, this marriage would be a simple platonic relationship?

Why does she want to marry me then anyway? I think just becoming allies would bring the same results. Well, I'm not going to decline. After all an ally was what I wanted and an ally is what I'm going to get.

Now that I think about it, Saxin's pretty well known. I mean there are huge number of different high ranking personalities on our wedding. People I only heard of in stories or I have seen in nightmares. Even Rodario is here! At first I readied myself to die since not even Saxin would be able to stand in front of him. At least that's what I think. I can't really tell how strong she really is but she nearly lost against that Fae here.

She was a present by the way. Saxin gave her to me, which I'm thankful for. The reason? Because her body should be able to take in the Major Cold Soul. All I need is to rise my level and my necromancy and I'll transform her into a great minion.

I wanted to immediately kill her but Saxin told me it would be better if the corpse was fresh, so we chained her and sealed of most of her power. She keeps glaring at me which is kind of annoying but nothing I can't deal with. I still would like to know her connection with Aya but I guess that has to wait until I rise her as mine.

“And then she told me to grow some wings and threw me down the cliff... I nearly died back then.” (Rodario)

Hm? is that guys still here? Who is he talking with?

Shit, he's talking with me. Fuck I completely forgot we were in the middle of a conservation. Oh god, is looking at me and waiting for a response, what do I say?

“That's... interesting?” (Sirius)

“I guess it is. Though I would rather call it traumatizing instead. Anyway, when is it going to begin? The wedding I mean.” (Rodario)

“I have no idea. I thought it was next week or so.” (Sirius)

“Master, mistress wants to begin when everybody is here.” (Doro)

“Huh? Oh, it was you Doro. Sometimes I forget you can speak.” (Sirius)

“…” (Doro)

“Oh! Mother arrived!” (Rodario)

I look to the place Rodario is pointing at and see an enormous red dragon slowly coming this way.

So, that's Diana of the west, huh? Pretty impressive to be honest. She classifies as an 'Greater Dragon' which puts her above 'Adult Dragons' but still under 'Elder Dragons' and 'Ancient Dragons' she's pretty big and at least thirty meters long. I wonder how great her wingspan is? Would it be rude to ask? I know you don't ask human women about their weight, but what are the rules when interacting with a female dragon?

Let's not do that for now.

Rodario stands up and runs towards his mother.

“Mother! Hey! How are you doing?!” (Rodario)

The mighty dragon lowers her enormous head towards the small human and gently starts rubbing it against his.

“Yeah, I'm also happy to see you! Hm? No fathers not here yet. Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm sure he got invited just wait!” (Rodario)

Oh, interesting. She is using telepathy to talk to him. I always wondered how she and the Abyssal Lord were able to talk with each other. Elder dragons learn to talk but the ones beneath them can't. Kind of funny, so powerful and yet not able to do such a simple thing.

After 'talking' with her son for a while the dragon went deeper into the building. She's probably looking for Saxin who can't come out right now since she's the bride and I'm not supposed to see her just yet. Why do we have to actually use such traditions? We are monsters, don't we stand above such petty things?

Anyway, after another thirty minutes or so the last guest arrived. Like I and Rodario speculated, it was his father Jehova of the East. Also, known as the Abyss Lord or the Abyssal Magus.

The man himself is a bit less than 170 centimeters tall and therefore rather short. He seemed to be in his mid-forty’s but I know that he is much, much older. He wears dark and simple robes that have some very interesting looking grey symbols inside them. His face wasn't very out of the ordinary expect for his eyes. They are very deep and the color doesn’t match those of normal humans. What's supposed to be white is absolutely black and the iris were missing. His pupils are both a glowing white. Whenever he looked somewhere the persons there would freeze in place and begin to get scared. Even the crocodile was afraid of his stare.

Interesting. I knew he was supposed to be strong but so much? He got more reactions out of the guests then even the dragon! Rodario quickly jumps up and runs towards him in the same manner he also greeted his mother.

“Father! Yo! How are you doing?!” (Rodario)

“Hmm? You here as well, Son? Good to see you. Your mom here as well?” (Jeff)

“Yeah she's talking with the mistress.” (Rodario)

“Hmm.” (Jeff)

It doesn't look like he really is listening to his son. You want to know how I can tell? Because he is staring at me. And now he starts to slowly walk towards me.

He's kind of scary to be honest.
