《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 20 - Red Ogre*

“…I was bound. The Dragon I wanted to investigate bound me to her. It was so surprising that I didn't even know what to do at the beginning. All I saw was a bright light and now I can't get away from her anymore. This is a disaster! My life is ruined! Don't misunderstand me, I do love dragons but not like this! How is that even supposed to work? I mean she's like twenty meters long and I'm a human...
Why did she bind me anyway? Dragons may fall in love at first sight yes, but I never heard about a dragon binding a non-dragon to her. She is currently right behind me by the way and keeps rubbing he face against me. I'm kinda scared... What if she... well you know, want to do 'it'?
Please send help!

*Sirius POV*
I was right.
We travelled for a week and finally arrived in the human kingdom. I was really getting nervous at end of our journey about where we will end up, but luckily my memories did not betray me! We entered the human kingdom and had something like a 'plan meeting' to decide what to do next. Most of the meeting was inside of my head though... anyway where was I? Right the plans for the future.
So, I have two options to proceed right now in order to grow in strength. The first option is to hunt very old and powerful souls and the second one is to get as many weaker souls as possible.
The second option is the best for me right now, since I'm too weak to fight against a dragon or anything like that. Now all that's left is to think about a way to acquire tons of Souls.
The first thing I'll have to do is level up my necromancy magic to the advance stage. This way I'll be able to use the spell 'Raise the Dead'! the biggest difference between 'Raise the Dead' and 'Summon Skeleton' is that the minions I'll summon with the advanced spell won't die after a set amount of time.
So, I'll be able to build myself a small army if I get myself some corpses. In order to acquire said corpses I'll level my dark magic a bit and attack a small village by creating a wall around it again. I should be able to snowball into more and more minions that way. I'm also hoping to link the Major Soul to one of my minions and see what I'll get.

I'm currently Inside the 'Mountain range of Blood' since I'm more likely to find other monsters in here. It's a lot faster to level your skill by fighting, after all the only things I found so far are goblins and kobolds though... I hope I can find some real monsters soon to test out my new sk-
“Are you the one?” (???)
Well, it was about time! I was wondering when I'm going to get interrupted again.
A very tall man is blocking my path.
Hm, now that I look at him he's an Ogre and not a man. This guy is huge and has red skin as well as two long horns growing out of his forehead. I know that Ogre evolve out of goblins and I was actually searching for some since those things should be great to train with.
“What do you mean with 'the one'?” (Sirius)
“Are you the one that kills Doros friends?! Doro is angry! Doro will kill you!” (Doro)
Great, an idiot! That should make this an easy fight.
“Yes I am! So what are you goi-” (Sirius)
Doro quickly charges into my direction, a bit to quickly!
How can he be so fast with such a big body build?! I quickly summon an ice barrier to stop him in his charge and it gets smashed into pieces by him! This did give me enough time to dodge his attack though.
“Doro Smash!” (Doro)
Why the fuck is he saying that?! He's red and not green! Well, time to try out some real spells!
“Second commitment: Proud Chains!” (Sirius)
Black Chains appear around Doro and wrap around his arms and legs. This skill already reached level 3 so it's going to decrease hi stamina regeneration by 12%! I cast 'Frost Prison' before he can attack again. Long spears of Ice appear all around him and a few hit the big guy. Most of them just simply break when they collide against him but one went through.
“AHH?! WHAT IS THSI?!” (Doro)
Damn, that was an Advance level skill and he just took most of it without any problems! Seems like his skin is really tough...
I guess Frost skill aren't going to help me a lot here. My necromancy and Dark Magic both luckily managed to reach Intermediate rank in the past few days, so I still have other means to attack! Doro frees himself from the single spear that's piercing him and once again charges towards me.

I cast the spell 'Dark Orb' and jump out of the way. Dark orb is a very simple attack spell that creates well, a dark orb. If this orb comes into contact with something it will explode, releasing dark mana in the process. The usefulness doesn't lie in its destructive power though. You can either throw the orb, or just simply let it float in midair! I choose the second option while barely dodging the ogre. He charges right into the orb and it explodes.
“ARGH!!!” (Doro)
Seems like he really didn't like it. Well let's end this fight b-
…
Why is he starting to grow?! The already two and a half meters tall Ogre grows another two fucking meters and green marks appear on his blood red skin!
“DORO WILL SMASH!” (Sirius)
What kind of skill is that?! Doro jumps in my direction and I'm barely able to dodge his gigantic feet! He then swipes his right hand in my direction and hits me this time. I fly at least 6 meters before crashing into a tree with great speed. I hear bones breaking.
You took 3940 Damage! 8750 Health left!
Fuck, this is not good! I should have bought Rot and the others with me today to help me in emergency situations like that! Seems like nothing important is broken though. Lucky me?
Doro turns towards me, ready for another attack. Shit, I need to distract him so I can gain some more distant and cast a bigger spell.
I take a few goblin corpses out of my Bag of Holding and quickly raise them as minions. I send them to attack Doro while I run away to great some distance and prepare my spell.
“Hm? Doro friends? Why Doro friend attack Doro?!” (Doro)
Good, seems like they are doing a great job at getting is attention! I run away a bit more and then stop. I see how Doro kills the undead Goblins out of rage and then looks towards me. I should have enough Time...
I activate 'Chaos Time' and begin chanting. Yeah, I actually have to chant in order to use this spell, though my knowledge shortens the chant by a lot.
“My enemies shall fear this spell for all eternity as their skin rots away and their armor is shred into pieces! Nothing shall protect them from the death I'll bring! Oh darkness, hear my call and do my bidding: Dark Nova!”
An enormous ball appears in my hands. The completely black sphere seems to absorb all light and the place around me actually gets darker. This spell is extremely powerful which is why I had to use a chant to actually cast it...
It's a very dangerous one as well since it's Area of Effect is kind of big and it does not differentiate between foe and ally. Well at least it won't hurt me, the caster.
The Orb grows in size and the whole place around me turns black for a few seconds as dark mana attacks everything with even the smallest trace of life. I wonder how many insects and animals I just killed? The spell has a range of approximal 18 meters.
After it's over I look around to see that this Ogre is still alive...
Are you serious?
I used an incredible strong spell and have a shit ton of INT, so how is he still alive?! He is bleeding a lot though and I notice that much of his skin has withered away. That's very good for me. I ready myself for another spell but this fucker throws a stone at me! Are you serious?
The stone hits me at my chest and smashes right thorough it, breaking my bones in the process.
You took 4120 Damage! 4630 Health left!
…
It's not looking very good for me right now.
*Third person POV*
“Are you sure we should leave master alone today? I know he said to wait for him but I kind of have bad feeling... What if something strong appears?” (Grau)
“I'm a lot more worried about him falling off a cliff while having an inner monologue or something...” (Schwarz)
“Stop worrying Guys! Master is strong and very clever, he won't fight something he can't win against! I'm sure of it!” (Rot)
“If you say so...” (Grau)

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.
