《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 19 - Leaving the Forest*

“I Did It! It may have taken me over twenty years, but I finally did it! I found a dragon! Not only this, it's actually an adult one! Now some of you might be wondering why it took me so long but you have to understand that it's very hard to find a dragon that's not either still a child, or spends most of its time eating humans. I'm so happy I could die right now! Finally, I can advance with my studies!
My plan now is pretty simple. First, I'm going to sneak into the dragons’ cave and try to set up a secret camp inside of it or something like that. I've got enough rations for month with me! Next, I'll just simply observe the beast and try to learn as much as possible!
Man, I'm excited! Wish me luck guys!”

*Sirius POV*
Let's talk about change or to be precisely, let's talk about changes coming with the creation of dungeons.
I asked Rot how the fairies were able to repel the elven guardians since they should have been pretty strong. Well it's pretty simple actually. Every dungeon has floors or something equal to that. This forest as an example, has layers. The first layer is the edge of the forest and the last one it's center, which is apparently the Cave of Origin I currently reside in. The Strongest Monster in a Dungeon will determine how strong the mobs are.
Aya was even more powerful than I thought. She was actually level 2953 and her level was pushed to 3000 because of the Dungeon preferring clear numbers. Afterwards, all the fairies on her layer were pushed to level 2900. the Boss of the next layer is level 2800 and its Minions Level 2700. this continues on and on until we reach the edge of the forest were the weakest monsters reside in. Those are only level 300.
So, because of this whole place turning into a dungeon and Aya being part of it, we now have some serious strong fairies flying around here...
That's actually kind of disturbing!
I was wondering if there were any actual benefits for being a Dungeon Master and luckily for me, there are! Whenever an adventurer dies within the dungeon I'll get his equipment and whatever's in his inventory.
I asked Rot to show me the armor of those elven guardian since I desperately need new clothes, but I won't wear any of it. You may be asking yourself, why? Well, all of this armor as clearly designed to be worn by females...

I may have no flesh and could therefor wear this stuff without any problems, but crossdressing sin’t one of my hobbies.
After thinking for a while and making sure that it's possible, I decided to give my 'Dungeon Master' position to someone else since you can't leave the dungeon if you are its master and I don't plan on staying here.
I use a small rock and turn it into a dungeon core by simply giving it my rights, afterwards I hide it deep inside the cave. That should be enough.
“*Sniff* Are you really going to leave Sirius?” (Aya)
“I have things to do, things I won't be able to do in here.” (Sirius)
“*Sob* Will you vis- visit me? “ (Aya)
“…” (Sirius)
Why is she so upset about me leaving? We have only known each other for barely 3 weeks and I was unconscious for most of that time. Let's lie to her so she won't feel too bad.
“Yes.” (Sirius)
“Yaaaaay!” (Aya)
So, now there's one thing I want to try.
I've got myself the corpses of a few elven Guardians and a big fat major Soul in my pocket... let's try something out! 'Soul Link'.
Welcome to the Soul Link Configuration Tool! You currently possess:
“1” Soul (Major Cold) and “0” undead
No Soul links can be created! Please raise more undead!
Right, I actually need to raise them before I'm able to link a soul to them. Well those elven guardians are way too strong for me to raise... I guess I have to look for some weaker people. I'll keep the Major soul for now, it's probably only going to give me around twenty levels anyway.
Well, it's time to leave. I pack my things and get out of the cave while Aya is shedding tears...
She has some serious problems.
“Wait for us Lord!” (Rot)
Fuck.
“Didn't we tell you we are going to stick to you ?!” (Grau)
“Even if you are mentally retarded!” (Schwarz)
…
Fuck.
Will I really still have to deal with those annoying little shits? Urgh, I think I'm going to throw up...
Anyway, I ask Aya if she could fly me and the fairies out but it seems like she can no longer leave her Layer inside the dungeon anymore, but she was able to lend the big bird to me. Apparently, that thing is not part of the dungeon for some strange reason. It probably has chosen not to become part of it like the three fairies around me did.

Very carefully and slowly I get up on the beast while Aya talks to him. It seems she actually has to peruse him into flying me to my destination. Well she's able to do so and the Bird lifts off.
I really underestimated the size of the forest... it took us a whole day on the wings of an enormous flying beast to reach the edge of this dungeon. We flew towards the north and over the mountains since that's the only place where we won't have to get past the elves.
Suddenly, the bird throws me off itself onto the ground. Very roughly. I manage to not break any bones while landing, but it was still pretty rude. The Bird then just turns around and flies away.
Seriously rude.
“You alright lord?” (Rot)
“I think he fell on his head!” (Grau)
“Oh no, what if it got even more messed up because of it?! Actually, that’s probably impossible.” (Schwarz)
…
While ignoring the stupid fairies I try to remember the world map in order to find out where we are.
Hm, North to the Everbloom, or I guess Neverbloom Forest should be the edge of the elven country and next to it is the... Human one? Right? Well we'll find out if we keep on travelling north. I hope I'm right since I would really like to slay and raise some humans right now...
Let's go!
*Third Person POV*
The appearance of the Neverbloom Forest bought many different reactions with it. The elves were devastated. Their most holy and sacred ground has been turned into a dangerous dungeon and the holy divine creatures within into viscous and evil beings. That was a serious blow to the elves and hurt them a lot. Not only did many of them start questioning their religion, but other Kingdoms and races started wondering about their capabilities.
The other races were pretty relieved to be honest. After all the elves just lost their status as the guardians of a sacred place. That meant that they no longer able to walk around as arrogantly as they did in the past.
The ones not praying to the 'Higher Gods' were more than happy with the creation of that dungeon. Especially the Council of the Dark kings had a small party to celebrate the downfall of Everbloom Forest.
Many Adventurers, even some elven one were very excited about the new Neverbloom Forest. After all a new dungeon meant new things to explore and new things to gain! Sadly for them, the elves still didn't allow anyone to enter. Some say it's because they still hold this place dearly in their heart, but most people are sure that they are just simply too ashamed.
There was one 'person' that the elves couldn't stop from entering though. After all, kingdoms have to be very careful about how they treat an X-Rank.
The female X-Ranked Adventurer slaughtered herself through the dungeon with ease. Nothing was able to stop her and after a while most fairies and Everbeasts decided to stop attacking her. She arrived and entered the cave at the center of the Dungeon and was met by another woman, whose ready to block her path.
“… Big sister?” (Aya)
“It's been a while, Ayaeqlarune” (???)
“… My name is Aya now.” (Aya)
“What? What do you mean your name is Aya now? How can you just forsake your old and powerful Fae name like that? Well it doesn't matter, show me where the Dungeon Master or the Core is so I can destroy that thing and get you out of here. “ (???)
“… No.” (Aya)
“…” (???)
“D- don't look at me like this! I want to stay! This place is great sis! I get to play with the fairies all day and they are all really friendly! And Sirius said he would visit me as well!” (Aya)
“Who the fuck is Sirius? Is he the asshole that made this place into a dungeon and bound you to it?! I swear to god when I find this maggot I wi-” (???)
“NO! Don't do anything to Sirius!” (Aya)
“… You are serious, aren't you? You really want to stay at this place!?” (???)
“Yes! Please Sister, I'm happy here! Theo's no reason to destroy this place! Just leave..” (Aya)
“…” (???)
“…” (Aya)
“Alright, I'll leave, search for this Sirius Guy and bring you his fucking head! Let's see if you still want to be here then!” (???)
“*Gasp* Don't Sister, please!” (Aya)
“Shut up Aya, I'm only doing what's best for you. Trust me, you are too dumb to know what's good and what's bad, so just wait here while I find this guy.” (???)
With those words the Greater Fae turned around and left the cave.
“… *Sob* I'm sorry, Sirius...” (Aya)

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
