《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 15 - Everbloom Forest Part 4*

“There once was an old creature, older than even the gods. This old thing was known for its great wisdom and knowledge! In fact, some would have called it all knowing. The wise creature only had one small flaw, but this flaw was a viscous one. It always felt tired and slept most of the time.
On one faithful day, a young man sought out the thing to learn and to study whatever secrets it holds. The thing did not share its wisdom with him as it was only sleep that it desired. “Talk to me! Tell me who you are, tell be what was, what is and what will be!” he demanded, but the beast only yawned and said, “Hush, boy! Leave and let me rest, maybe I'll answer your questions on the next decade.”
Angered the lad put together a forbidden spell he found a long time ago to take the memories of the beast. “So, you won't help me? Well don't mind me helping myself then!” he said as he activated the spell. Wisdom and knowledge of great power flew into his head as the old thing lost it all. “Fool! You want my mind? Take it then, but know this! You shall also inherit my curse!” the old thing yelled as it lost its mind. The now wise man saw his errors but alas, for it was too late. He regretted his decision as he fell asleep.
And thus, the King of Wisdom was born.”

*Sirius POV*
I'm currently making my way towards the next tiny divine soul. According to Rot it seems like the worse situation appeared...
I was reported to the elves by a fairy.
I have a pretty big head start on them but they most likely travel a lot faster than me. I decided to try and hide for now but Rot kept suggesting to rush towards the other souls first. I have no idea why though, even if I reach level 500 I won't stand a chance against those guardians since all of them are equal to a Rank A Adventurer.
But I don't really have another option and I don't like the idea of hiding like a coward. If I have to die, I will at least do so with pride and two middle fingers held towards the elves. So, let's believe in Rot, she was pretty helpful until now at least. I wonder if I sho-
“ROHAR!” (???)
“Shit!” (Rot)
“What the hell was that?” (Sirius)

“Something we call an Everbeast is around here!” (Rot)
“A what?” (Sirius)
“A Everbeast, my lord. Does your bony head have any problems hearing without ears?” (Schwarz)
“Don't be so rude, Schwarz! And don't panic Rot! This roar sounded like the one of a small child.” (Grau)
“Can you guys just tell me what an Eve-“ (Sirius)
Before I'm able to finish my sentence, I feel the earth shake as something big lands behind me. I turn to find out what's there and find myself surprised to look at an enormous ape.
So, that's an Everbeast? This thing looks like a giant three and half meter high and very slim gorilla. It has white fur on most of its body but also a few pink spots. The most noticeable thing were his 4 strong arms though.
“What is this mutant? Why is here?” (Sirius)
“The elves created those things to protect the forest! Whenever they find out someone's inside they use a Horne to produce a high pitched sound that only the Everbeasts can hear. Afterwards they will start searching for the intruder.” (Rot)
“We are lucky it's only a pink one. They are the youngest and weakest Everbeasts! Quickly kill it and run before more find us!” (Grau)
How strange.
Alright, this thing wants to kill me? I'll show It a frozen hell then. I by now figured out that I can currently use all my spells without chanting which increases the rate in which I can cast significantly!
I start by casting 'Frost Prison', but to my surprise the Everbeast begins to breath very hot and white fire at me. I cancel the spell to summon and Ice Barrier in order to protect me from the intense flame.
Hm...
I have an idea. I use 'Gravedigger' and disappear underground. I wait until I can hear that the barrier above me has been shattered by the beast. Perfect. I finally use the 'Frost Prison' Spell and hear painful screams above me. I submerge from the ground to find the Everbeast, pierced by ice.
“Do you like my spells, little ape? Most people tell me they are very 'special'.” (Sirius)
The Everbeast roars in my direction and I can see Rot and the others getting dizzy and pressing their hands onto their ears. Well how having no ears now, Schwarz? I start to cast 'Ice Shards' a few times in quick succession until nothing more than a pile of flesh is left from the beast.
Still thinking about the whole ear thing, I grin while looking at the small mountain.

“…Our lord is kind of scary” (Grau)
“Of course, he is! He's our Lord after all!” (Rot)
“Come to think of it, didn't he try to use those Ice shards on you when you called him Sururus?” (Schwarz)
“...Sorry for mispronouncing your name a few days ago” (Rot)
Well, that wasn't too hard. I even managed to drill some respect into those annoying fairies! I guess If you consider it being a child it was pretty strong. I wonder how big and strong it's parents are? Let's get out of here before I have to find out. It seems Everbeasts, like most animals don't have a soul or at least not the kind of soul I can see. I leave without taking the bones since it would take too long and continue on with my way.
Hm?
I notice a big shadow on the ground and look up to the sky to see what caused it.
…
Now that's one big bird!
…
It kind of feels like it’s getting bigger.
…
Am I just imagining things or is it coming towards me?
…
Oh fuck it is! Come on I just defeated this white gorilla a minute ago! Give me a break...
I quickly try position myself so that I can't be hit by the huge bird falling towards me. It lands with a loud noise and its still moving wings create strong winds that blow away the fairies.
This thing has at least a wingspan of over 14 meters! The gigantic bird has scarlet red feathers and a very big head. Its huge beak isn't sharp or pointy, which leads me to believe that this thing shouldn't be a carnivore.
Hm?
Is that a saddle? Oh, someone is actually riding this thing! A girl it seems. I can't really tell since she has a full body plate armor, but the armor is pretty slim and the helm kind of looks a bit feminine to me. The Rider jumps off the back of his bird-thing and looks towards me. She begins to talk in a voice, which indeed belongs to a woman.
Or a guy with no balls...
“So you are the scum who is responsible for this? You bastard! I will make sure to dye the ground with your blood!” (Bird Girl)
Is she a guardian? They should be far away from me! Also, what is that bird?! I want one...
“Are you too scared to speak, scum?!” (Bird Girl)
“You know what? That's it! I noticed something, asshole. Since I'm undead people just keep being rude to me. I'm not joking here! It seems like everyone keeps on insulting me or thinking I'm some idiot! And what blood do you want to dye the ground with? Can't you see my fucking head? I don't have any blood, idiot! How about you try to show me a bit more respect, huh? Come on let's start over again from the beginning. And make sure you don't use any insults in your first fucking sentence!” (Sirius)
“…” (Bird Girl)
“…” (Sirius)
Fuck. That was major mistake. I got a bit fed up with this shit and just said whatever I had on my mind... Since when am I this prideful anyway? I wasn't like that in the past... She seems to be even more shocked then me though. What is she going to do? Kill me directly or say something before that? Oh damn, she is shacking now! Seems like she's really angry now... I think she will most likely choose option A.
*snieff*
...Huh? Did she make that sound?
“My bad, *cough* let's start again, but please don’t yell at me. Are you the one that corrupted this forest?! If yes, prepare to die!” (Bird Girl)
She draws a straight sword and points it towards my direction.
“…” (Sirius)
“…” (Bird Girl)
“Erm, no?” (Sirius)
“…” (Bird Girl)
“…” (Sirius)
“Re- really?” (Bird Girl)
...Is she serious? She can't be that dumb, right? Fuck this bird is looking at me as if it wanted to eat my bones! I have to keep on trying to deceive her.
“Ye- yes of course not! I'm just.... just someone like you! a...” (Sirius)
“A Fae?” (Bird Girl)
“Yes! Exactly! I'm a bone Fae and I'm looking for whoever did this to the forest!” (Sirius)
What the fuck is a Fae? Are they related to the fairies? Well, at least she isn't one of the Guardians.
“But why did I hear the pained scream of an Everbeast youngling over here...?” (Bird Girl)
“I think you imagined that!“ (Sirius)
“And who does this meat pile over the belong to?” (Bird Girl)
“…” (Sirius)
“…” (Bird Girl)
“A vicious beast that was summoned by the Corrupter?” (Sirius)
“Oh I see!” (Bird Girl)
“Really?! That worked?!” (Sirius)
“Huh?” (Bird Girl)
“ Nothing, nothing hehehe...” (Sirius)
I think I found a retard.
