《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 13 - Everbloom Forest Part 2*

“There were once two princesses, one talented but ugly and the other beautiful but with no talent at all. The beautiful princess was loved by the people for her grace, her face and her body. The talented one on the other hand was shunned and left alone, but she accepted it for she knew that this is how things are supposed to be. On one faithful day, the queen died of some mysterious illness and a new leader had to be crowned! Everybody was saddened by her death but also excited for the crowning because they knew, who would become the new queen. But then, when the will of the queen was read, the people were shocked to hear that it was the ugly one, who was chosen to take up the throne, for she was one with a clear mind and great wisdom. The maddened beautiful princess lashed out at her sister, for it was her destiny to inherit the throne. “Liar! Thief!” she yelled at her sister. “Oh please, dear sister calm down! I will give the throne to you! I do not long for it and I do not want to take anything you desire, oh dear sister!” the ugly one cried. “Give?! You have no right to give me what is mine to begin with!” the maddened princess screamed at the other one as she took a knife and stabbed her with it. She stabbed and stabbed and stabbed until nothing of the ugly face remained and her white dress was coloured blood red. “What's yours shall be mine...” She whispered as she took the first bite off the corpse. “What's yours shall be mine!” and thus, the Queen of Blood was born” -From 'Tales of the Dark Kings, Envy.

Yeah, I got pretty far!
I already... 'corrupted' a bit more than 150 souls from those white trees. Thanks to that, this place looks a lot worse, or better depending on what your color preferences are I guess. This place is now filled with great black trees that wear crowns of blood red leaves. Even the grass got a lot gloomier and turned around those corrupted trees.
I also found out that I gain one more follower for every soul I take! Those Dark-Fairies are really strange though. For some reason, they change personality, colors and names after I 'corrupt' them. They are very thankful to me as well, which I find even stranger. I guess they ju-
“Why is our lord looking towards the horizon?” (Grau)
“Shush! Lord Siriususus is having one of his inner monologues! Do not disturb him!” (Rot)
“Inner monologue? Is he and Idiot or something? And why did you use so many -us'?” (Schwarz)

“He told me to!” (Rot)
…
Did I mentioned that some of them like to follow me around and annoy the living hell out of me?! Damn it! I even tried killing them but they are unreasonably fast and have pretty strong magic capabilities, considering their size. Anyway, where were I? I guess they ju-
“How long will he stay like this?” (Grau)
“If nobody interrupts him he can do this for hours!” (Rot)
“Hours?! Are you sure he's not broken or something? How can someone talk inside of his head to himself for such a long time?!” (Schwarz)
“We shall accept our lord and all his many flaws! So, what if he's mentally challenged?! He is still our lord!” (Rot)
“That's right, Rot!” (Grau)
…
I think I'd already burned this whole forest and all of its inhabitants to the ground if my hate wouldn't make sure that my rage vanishes. How can there be a whole race of annoying bitches? I swear, the god who made those things is a sadistic asshole who likes to watch people suffer.
A few hours later I found something interesting. Here's a small river filled with glass clear and slightly glowing water running through the forest. I stick a finger into the water and feel a bit of pain. I'm talking about actual pain, not the feeling I get whenever I think I SHOULD feel pain.
This can only mean one thing: This river attacked my soul.
Interesting.
I walk against the rivers current to find out whatever causes the water to behave like this. On my way to the source of the river I of course proceed to 'corrupt' every Soul-tree I come across. After walking for half a day, I reach my goal.
The water seems to be coming out of a small cave. Hm? I wonder what I'm going to find inside.
“Oh, does our lord wish to corrupt this place as way?! That would be great!” (Rot)
I turn around and notice Rot, whose currently flying around me with exciting eyes.
“What is this place?” (Sirius)
“It's one of the 'Caves of Origin' here inside of the Everbloom Forest!” (Grau)
“'Caves of Origin'? What are those?” (Sirius)
“Enter if you want to find out hehe!” (Rot)
…
So annoying. But well, let's enter this mysterious cave. I walk towards the entrance. This caves seems to be huge, at least it’s entrance is. I enter the cave and suddenly feel incredibly heavy. It’s like all my strength left me.
You have entered one of the sacred placed of the Higher God Naria, God of Nature! For being a monster your stats were decreased by 93% Only strong monster can enter without being weakened.

What?!
93%?!
Now that's just unfair. Also, sacred place huh? I wonder if I should leave or stay...
On the one hand, I'm really weak right now and could easily be killed, on the other hand what would attack me? The elves don't let any people inside this forest and there are certainly no monsters in here. I think I'm going to just take the risk!
I go deeper into to the cave and I have to say, that's a pretty beautiful cave! There are a lot of different gemstones on embedded into the walls and all of them glow, making sure that the whole place is lit. The stone of the cave itself is surprisingly smooth and very bright in color. I go deeper inside and find something that gets my blood (which I don't have) boiling!
There is a huge soul in the middle of the room. This soul has a pink color like the ones outside and also a small white coloring in the middle of it. It’s size surpasses every soul I have seen until now though. Souls are usually around the size of half a fist. This one is much bigger than my Torso!
“What the hell is that?” (Sirius)
“It's a Soul of Origin my lord.” (Rot)
“Why is it here? And to who does it belong?” (Sirius)
“This thing is our most important and also most hated treasure. We fairies are borne inside caves like this. Those gemstones you saw at the beginning of the cave? Those are practically something like fairy embryos. When a gem gets old enough it acquires a conscious and a living and breathing body. But this thing here also implants us with a soul. But sadly, not with a normal one, my lord. It gives us one of these pink ones that make us super friendly and always happy, even if we don't want to lord!” (Rot)
“Why? And who did this.” (Sirius)
“It was the god to which this place belongs. She did it so that we could represent her! People would see us and feel the divine touch of our god and see that we are happy. This way she gains more and more followers and believers...” (Rot)
…
Slaves? The gods are keeping slaves?! That's what this practically is, right?
The hate inside me burns as I recall my time spent as a human child. I thought I was over it but I still hate slavery.
Oh, I feel cold, so cold.
How can anyone pray to gods that keep slaves? Where is the goodwill and the goodness of the gods? Where is their mercy?
Fuck them. All of them. I walk closer to the soul and touch it.
Do you want to absorb a Divine Soul (tiny)? This will set your Level of Reputation with the Higher God Naria, God of Nature to very bad!
Yes. Yes! YES!
Ring Progress: 121%
Wow, so a tiny divine soul is worth over 250 normal ones? How much is a small, normal sized, big or huge one going to be worth?!
Hm? My ring is vibrating strongly... Maybe it's because it has absorbed more than it should have?
You have 'corrupted' a Cave of Origin! Fairies born inside of here from now on will have no soul and a free will of their own.
The Gods from down below are very pleased with you! If you continue on like this, you will very soon be rewarded.
Unstable Ring of a Major Soul
This Ring is filled with the equivalent of 10 or more Greater Souls, which created a Major Soul! This ring was filled with more souls than it can handle which will result into the destruction of the ring! Time Left: 189 Minutes!
“WHAT?! Only 189 minutes? Fuck and I'll need to get 1.000.000 mana into it to freeze it... I guess I have to eat them warm...” (Sirius)
“Hm? If it's mana you need lord, we can help out!” (Rot)
Rot starts whistling and over 100 fairies come over. All of them are the ones I corrupted of course.
“We can provide you with mana by using the spell 'Transfer'! Would you be pleased my lord?” (Rot)
“Hm, I'm not sure. How much mana do you guys hold inside your bodies?” (Sirius)
“Depending on the age each and every one of us holds something between eight to fifty thousand, my lord” (Rot)
Fifty?! Now that's a lot. I guess since they are pretty much just flying gemstones infused with mana that makes a lot of sense. Alright let's fill this thing up!

“Being the strongest is often pretty convenient and cool. Sure. But what good does this power do for me if the disadvantages it brings prevents me from satisfying my curiosity!?” This is a slow paced story of the daily (or nightly?) life of a vampire, whose starting hand in life is “no home, no name, random knowledge, overpowered strength and seemingly endless curiosity”, in a world that is often not friendly and safe even to a member of a rare and overpowered race.

8 203Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
