《Dan's Shoppe of Oddities》Vol 2 Ch 1: Business as usual

“Have a good rest of your day!” Dan didn't know if he would ever get used to this. He watched as a harpy walked out of his store, a shiny pendant in her mouth as she opened the door with the talons on her feet. She waved a goodbye with a flap of her wing as her mouth was otherwise occupied with the pendant, and passed through the door, as she did she went from a harpy that was covered in black feathers to that of a business woman that was wearing a nicely pressed work suit and skirt.

He himself might now be a Demigod, but he still had a hard time some days coming to terms with the changes of the world around him. He didn't know if he could ever fully grasp it, he was after all not born into this version of the world he simply came to be in it after Abyzou’s blood mixed with his own.

And here he was selling ancient pendants and other jewelry and baubles to things that were something other than human. It was perplexing to say the least, but it was something he was going to have to get used to.

“Ah, good she left,” Amani sighed, “Now I can go untie Aby.”

“Why exactly did you have to tie her up to begin with?” Dan asked, this was far from the first time poor Abyzou had been tied up, in fact it seemed to be a go to for whenever Amani just didn't want to deal with the slightly tsundere girl.

“There was this harpy once that tricked her, stole a lot of her valuable items but worse than anything else was the note that was left behind.”

“Note?” he asked.

“Yep, if I remember correctly it said: though I might be a bird brain, but thou’s brain is addled by poison beyond repair, ” Amani laughed, “it would seem as though she took offence to being called a bird brain.” Amani sauntered on over, she was currently wearing a tee shirt that was much too tight, with its low cut v neck and exposed belly, and a pair of jeans that fit just as well.

No one could denight that the sun tanned djinn was attractive.

Her hair long hair draped over her shoulder, cascading over the counter and almost touching the floor. She smiled at Dan, flashing her dazzlingly white smile.

Damn, was he sure she was not a succubus?

“Well, I suppose I should let her out,” she sighed and walked away to a closet that was in the corner of the sales floor, which was rocking back and forth almost like something was struggling inside. With a flourishing movement Amani opened the door, and stepped lightly out of the way as a bundled and bound lamia fell out onto the floor with a dull thud. Dan looked over at the poor girl with sympathetic eyes as she wiggled on the floor. “Hold still dammit,” Amani growled as she worked on the knots.

It took almost a minute before the snake lady that was his second wife was released, and the second it was done she slithered up to dan, rising to eye level and stared into his eyes. She was equally as beautiful as Amani, but in a different way.

She had pale white skin, the whitest he had ever seen, almost like there was no pigmentation at all, which only served to highlight the other colors that she naturally possessed. Her golden snake like eyes positively shone from the shadows cast by her thick black hair. A black hair that was almost at all points in time a crazed mess. It would seem as though no matter what she did there was always some spikes of hair jutting out at impossible odd. Her entire lower body was that of a snake from the waist down, covered in golden scales that reflected the light, she even had a few stripes on her face that reflected the light.

And then there was her chest, honestly speaking Dan wondered what those were for, she was after all a lamia, which to the best of his knowledge laid eggs, meaning she was not a mammal, why she had mammaries, well he could not tell you. That however was besides the point, as she had quite the pair on her, sitting firmly in the that is ridiculous category in terms of size and shape.

“I don't like harpies...” she hissed.

“So I hear,” he said, not turning away his gaze. After a few seconds of staring abyzou did something that neither Dan nor Amani expected. She grabbed Dan and pulled him into a kiss, his surprise was only for a second before he kissed her back.

“They are not taking my treasure again.” she said pulling away from him.

“What am I your treasure now?” he asked, a slight grin on his face, she blushed, her ears and cheeks dying a cute shade of pink as she turned away, not looking him in the eyes anymore.

“Awww, isn't that sweet?” came a small voice, everyone looked over as a cat walked into the room from the street, it walked over and hopped onto the counter, before transforming into the form of a woman.

She like Amani had dark skin, but this woman was more, egyptian, complete with the hair you would expect to see on say a picture of cleopatra, with gold and turquoise beads in it. The most peculiar thing about this woman however was not her egyptian aesthetics, it was the collar that she wore around her neck, which clearly read the name “Princess” along with an address, and yes even a rabies shot tag. Well that and the fact that she had cat ears and a feline tail.

She perched herself atop the counter, legs dangling off in a very feline manner and fished a small baggy out of the pocket of her hoodie. Inside it was small pellets that were brown, and red and green, they were even some moulded in the form of fish, she reached her hand in the bag and pulled out a handful before popping them in her mouth and chewing, creating quite the racket as she gnawed on the crunch food with her sharp teeth.

“Ah, fancy feast this time?” Dan asked eyeing the cat food in the baggy. She nodded and offered him a hand full, to which he shook his head. “Got tired of kibble and bits huh?”

“No,” she shook her head. “Just wanted to try something new.” she said in between small handfuls of food.

“Ah,” Dan nodded. “The question is does it actually taste different?”

“Oh it does, these have a fishy taste to them, and the kibbles are kinda chickeny.” she responded back with a small smile.

“I dont think ill ever get used to seeing the egyptian goddess Bastet eating normal cat food.” amani shook her head with a laugh. “Oh how the mighty have fallen.” Bastet made a motion like she was going to throw the food at her, but soon thought better of it, popping it into her mouth she simply muttered a shut up at the other woman.

Bastet unlike the other two here was not his wife, not technically that was. She was instead infatuated with one of his wives, the only member of this group that was not present.

Sara.

She was currently at school teaching literature to students at the local college. Speaking of which they all needed to get ready.

“Hey bastet don't eat too much of that,” he said snatching the food out of her hand, she flailed trying to grab her baggy of food back before pouncing on his back as he tried to walk away.

“Give it back!” she wailed as she wrapped her arms and legs around him, claws digging in ever so slightly into his shoulders.

“No, we have to get ready for a picnic remember?” he responded, reaching up and scratching her by one of her cat ears. She purred slightly before pulling back and hissing at him, and then going back to purring as he continued to stroke her head. “Speaking of which how are we doing on that?” he asked amani, turning towards her with the still purring Bastet on his back.

“It's all ready,” she said, and out of thin air popped a wicker basket.

“Ok good, let's go pick up sara, she should be getting out soon.” he said, Bastet perked up, a broad smile on her lips. The stolen cat food long forgotten with the promise of getting to see the one mortal she loved. Not that she didn't love Dan, just not as much as her sara, thought thinking about it he was not really a mortal anymore was he? Well then her first thought stood. She nodded to herself, and contentedly lay her chin on his shoulder as he carried her out to the car.

“Hey! I want to be carried!” Abyzou pouted, but that pout was soon replaced with a smile as Dan scooped her up in his arms and carried her. Walking out the door with one woman on his back and one in his arms.

Amani smiled at the three of them, and grabbing the basket she conjured up she followed them out into the mid afternoon sun...
