《Binary Progression》Volume 7 - Chapter 30: Fishy situation...

“What the hell are you doing here?” Bromy asked Kevin, the group was heading through the fog-filled ruins of the long-lost civilization of fogkin.
“I’m looking for the decorative climate-device that was round here… Maybe it’d work since this isn’t a game anymore!” Kevin replied.
He was referring to the device the sea prince took weeks back, back when the sunken continent was under the control of Arthur; that was before it mysteriously vanished.
“Yeah, that was taken by the sea people…” Bromy replied.
JohnWillStab was anxiously looking around every corner for any long-legged fog-demons.
It’s not that he wasn’t confident in his ability to fight them, he just found them really scary regardless.
“Honestly… I’m not sure if I don’t feel better with the underwater guys having it rather than you guys…” Alex remarked.
“No offence…” he added.
“You should, why else would the water-people want the device if not to flood the world so they can kill us off?” Bromy asked.
Alex scratched his head.
“It’s still probably better than what you’d do…” he sighed.
“Still, why were you looking for it?” Bromy asked ignoring Alex’s comment.
“Well, I thought it’d be cool to make the climate in Kearudown a bit nicer!” he replied thinking of himself relaxing on the beaches in Kearudown dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and flipflops.
“Dude… you’re going destroy all life there…” Bromy laughed.
“Not human life!” Kevin pointed out.
They both laughed maniacally as the rest of the group slowed down their pace to make some distance between them and the two mad scientists.
“Anyway, thanks for the help earlier, I’m not much of a fighter!” Kevin replied.
“Tis no problem! We are on a journey into the nearby dungeon to stop his mysterious fog!” Bonifacius explained.
Kevin stopped.
“The dungeon? That’s not where the fog’s coming from…“ he replied.
“What do you mean?” asked Bromy.

Everyone’s attention was now glued to Kevin.
“Well, I actually came here yesterday, I was looking for the device when I suddenly came across a giant pit in the ground,” he explained.
He pointed further up-hill.
“That sea prince was wandering around here for a while already, I bet the underwater people have something to do that hole!” he explained.
“Wait a moment, a hole? What kind?” asked Bonifacius.
“…” Kevin scratched his head.
“It’s… it’ll probably be easier to show you guys…” he replied
The group headed towards the massive pit, the closer they got, the thicker the fog became.
Once the hole came into view, everyone looked at in in silence.
“This isn’t a pit…” John began.
“It’s a tunnel…”
JohnWillStab peered into the white abyss from which came the fog.
The walls of the hole were supported with massive concrete slabs.
“Watch out! It’s slippery!” Kevin warned as the earth below them began to tremble.
“FUCK!” John exclaimed as he lost his balance and began tipping towards the tunnel.
Out of nowhere, the entire side of the tunnel crumbled sending the entire L.F.T.O group into the abyss below.
Kevin was watching this happen awkwardly from the edge of where the ground fell into the hole.
“…”
“Well shit…” he remarked.
Several hours later…
JohnWillStab opened his eyes, seeing that he was in what looked like a quarry.
“What the hell?” he asked.
“You’re up!” Foxly exclaimed; relief was audible in his voice.
John looked over and saw Foxly dressed in a striped, black and white prison outfit.
“What the hell did we do while I was passed out?!” John demanded glancing down as his own striped clothes.
“It’s not like that!” he exclaimed.
He gestured to the big wall that surrounded the quarry, several fish-people stood around with spears and staffs in their hands.
A strange turquoise banner that displayed a trident was hung up all over the walls and towers.

“We fell directly into some sort of prison run by the fish people…” Foxly explained.
JohnWillStab looked around for the other L.F.T.O members.
“Where are the others?” he asked.
Foxly shook his head.
“I’m not sure, I was one of the last to respawn so I didn’t hear the full conversation… apparently they’re working on some big project and they don’t mind delving into slavery to get it done…” he explained.
“Hey! You two! Get to work!” one of the fish-people exclaimed.
JohnWillStab looked over and saw a muscular-looking fishman patrolling the quarry as other humanoid races carried silver rocks in large sacks to a large collection pile near the big metal gate.
JohnWillStab tried to use shadow-step only to be zapped by the chains he previously didn’t notice on his hands.
“AH! SHIT!” he exclaimed.
The pain was intense, but more importantly, it cancelled out his ability.
“Hah! Nice try, undead!” the fishman smirked.
He marched over to John, picking him up by the collar.
“Now get back to work unless you want my foot so-” the fishman was cut off when JohnWillStab chomped down on his hand.
“…”
“…”
John, Foxly and the man remained silent as John’s teeth buried deeper into the fishman’s flesh.
“AHH!” the man desperately waved his hand trying to get JohnWillStab off to no avail.
“LET! GO!” the man exclaimed placing a foot down on John, leg and yanking his arm up until John was forced to let go.
The fishman looked to his mangled forearm and then back to JohnWillStab who looked back at him and hissed violently.
“N-n-now get back to work!” the guard hurried off to find a healer.
Foxly looked over to John.
“All I know is that they said they wouldn’t kill us, so we shouldn’t get any unnecessary attention…” Foxly replied.
JohnWillStab looked around, they were in what looked like a massive, continent-sized cave, the rocks above were covered in glowing plants that resembled stars.
In the distance, a massive concrete building stood, it almost looked like a nuclear reactor, from its top flew clouds of fog.
“Right…” John nodded.
“This is what you should all strive to be like!” the voice of another fishman exclaimed.
JohnWillStab and Foxly, as well as all the other miners, looked over to the source of the voice.
On a wooden platform, Alex, also wearing the prison uniform was being praised by a moustached fishman.
“Aww, it’s nothing!” he said bashfully.
“…”
“…”
JohnWillStab and Foxly were watching him with blank expressions as the fishman spoke.
“He has single-handedly mined two-tons of ore for our cause!” the fishman explained, he was wearing a fancy grey suit with a red ribbon.
The fishman pointed to a large piled of soil and rocks.
“Isn’t that just… rubble…?” John thought.
Foxly elbowed John lightly to get his attention.
“Look!” he said in a hushed whisper, he pointed to Thal giving them a discrete thumbs up from under the platform.
“He put an illusion on the rocks for the fishpeople…” John realised.
“It’s really nothing! I’m just glad I could help!” Alex said shyly.
A balding human wearing the same uniform as the rest walked up to JohnWillStab.
“Hey… you two…” he whispered.
“Are you two players or NPCs?” he asked.
“Players…” they both replied.
The man leaned in.
"My name is Rick... also a player…"
“Alright… just sit tight, we left a message to the jGuardians on the surface a few days ago, I’m sure they’ll send someone to help us!” the man replied.
“…”
“…”
“I think that someone was us…” John sighed.
