《Binary Progression》Volume 5 - Chapter 30: DAGGERS!

Bromy sat on the cut stone forming the seats of the ancient-looking arena.
He had massive bags under his eyes.
His expression a mix of sorrow and a stabbing pain in the gut.
The mist in the air lingered thanks to the thick canopy of the colossal trees distorting the light that came down from above.
"..."
"I feel like shit..." Bromy sighed.
"You've been drinking for five chapters straight, what did you expect?!" Crown asked.
Bromly lit a cigarette and let out a puff of smoke.
Bromy's attention was grabbed by the sound of tapping on the ground below, he looked down and saw a small, baby goose standing before him.
"..." he looked over to Crown, "Hey, did you lose a goose by chance?" he asked pointing to the creature.
Crown breathed a sigh of annoyance.
"I dunno, they just kind of appear sometimes..." she replied.
Bromy reached down and picked up the goose, he noticed the small blue pill in its bill.
"It placed the pill in his palm before disappearing with a puff,"
"..." Bromy looked at the pill uncertainly.
"Am I really going to take a random blue pill brought to me by some magic bird?..."
"Was the bird a drug dealer trying to get me hooked?"
A smile spread across Bromy's face even though he tried to hide it.
"Does a drug-dealer goose deal cwack?" he mumbled.
"What?" asked Crown, not hearing his question.
"Nothing..." he quickly replied before taking the pill.
Within a second his hangover seemingly disappeared.
"..." Bromy looked at Crown in awe.
"That... was... amazing! My hangover's gone!"
"Seriously?!" Crown asked.
"These things have a use!?" she asked.
No more than three dozen people sat around the arena and chatted amongst each other as the first fighters walked out onto the stage.
A voice Bromy found familiar began to speak in a loud, obnoxious announcer voice.
He wore a make-shift suit of mismatched clothes.
"Greeting, ladies and gentlemen! And welcome to the annual arch-druid tournament!"
Bromy's expression sank as he saw the black-haired man that walked onto the main field.

"...Hey Crown..." Bromy began.
"What?" she asked.
"Do you think your geese could get me a special kind of pill?" he asked.
"I don't control what kind of pill they give you... you can try asking..." she said.
With a puff of smoke, a small goose appeared next to Bromy.
He leaned down next to it.
"Hey, can you spawn me a cyanide pill?" he asked.
The goose shook its head before disappearing once more.
The announcer noticed Bromy, "Oi, Bromy! Hey, Bromy! It's me! Malagmus! Can you see me?!"
Bromy pinched the bridge of his nose as he tried to hide his embarrassment by hiding his face.
"Anyway! I'll be your announcer for the duration of this event! And in return, I get to live here for free, right, Abby?" He asked gesturing towards the ogre sitting on the opposite side of the arena to Bromy.
She let out a sigh and nodded.
"Great, now that we have that out of the way! Let's get started." he exclaimed as stepped to the side of the fighting part of the arena.
"Our first fighter is Vinell, the human druid and earth-mage!"
Out from a little tent located near the entrance walked out the human, long, white hair and a bit of a goatee, red eyes.
He wore leather armour, black in colour with metal plates attached.
With a snap of his fingers, he manifested a rose in his hand and dramatically tossed it into the crowd.
The arena remained silent as he walked to its centre smugly.
"The other fighter is PastaFiend69, the fist and druid class ogre!" Malagmus exclaimed gesturing for the tent from which came the massive humanoid, black hair, skin blood red and massive tusk-like teeth sticking out from his lower jaw.
He wore nothing other than a blue coat and black trousers.
"Hmph..." he hmph'd as he walked into the centre of the arena, standing right next to his opponent.
"Interesting name, friend~," Vinell remarked.
"Ready?" Malagmus asked, without waiting for a reply he clasped his hands.

"GO!"
"Huh? Hold on-" Vinell began but was cut off.
PastaFiend pulled his fist back before slamming it into the human, Vinell was launched back, performing several flips mid-air before landing on the hard, tiles lining the ground.
Vinell began to stand up as PastaFiend clapped his hands as from the ground sprouted a tree.
Slowly he walked up to the tree and grabbed it with both hands.
"What is he...?" Vinell though wiping the blood from his nose.
In an instant, the tree split in two sending splinters of wood out everywhere.
Wielding it like a mace, the ogre smashed the massive log into Vinell.
A cloud of dust rose into the air as everyone watched with anticipation.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... at least give me a chance to speak!" Vinell laughed as the tree he was hit with began to crumble.
"What the-?!" PastaFiend looked at the tree and saw that it was coated with something, roses.
A thousand roses grew on the underside of the log, draining it of all life and nutrients until it crumbled like potato chips.
Vinell stood up, he breathed a few deep breaths.
"That's not a normal druid spell..." Bromy thought.
"It must be one of those personal-skills like how John's friend has the shining step skill..."
PastaFiend tossed the wood aside but as he went in for a hit with his fists, his hand crumbled partially.
Vinell was still sent flying, though only about a meter this time.
What the ogre couldn't yet see were the dozens of flowers sprouting all over his back.
Vinell stood up and smirked.
"Looks like I win this one!" he said looking towards the crowd who burst into cheers.
"NICE!" Bromy exclaimed.
"Doesn't that skill seem kind of... cheaty?" asked Crown.
Bromy shrugged.
"Eh, if PastaFiend went in for a lethal move on his first strike he would have won," he replied.
The ogre fell to his knees.
"Fine... I give up..." PastaFiend sighed,
Vinell extended his hand towards the ogre, helping him off the ground as the flowers on his back wilted, returning all strength to him.
"HAH! NOW'S MY CHANCE TO STRIKE!" PastaFiend exclaimed as his fist drew near Vinell's shocked face.
Gasps echoed all around the arena as the ogre burst into laughter.
"Just kidding, just kidding, I already gave up," he said breathing a sigh.
Vinell breathed a sigh as well.
"I thought I was really done for back there!" he said with audible relief in his voice.
Malagmus stepped into the battlefield once more.
"And the winner is... Vinell! The human with the edgy design that doesn't fit his character!" he exclaimed as the crowd began to cheer once more.
PastaFiend left the fighting part of the arena and joined the crowd, awaiting the next battle.
"That Malagmus guy didn't actually do any announcing..." Crown thought.
"Who is that guy, anyway?" Crown asked.
Bromy let out a sigh.
"He's just some weirdo that breaks into people's in-game houses and gives long monologues as if he was some weeaboo wise-man except if I had to place him on an alignment chart I'd say he's chaotic-retard," Bromy said coldly.
"I... I can hear you y'know..." Malagmus called out from the fighting pit.
Bromy ignored him.
"Come on, don't be so cold! I thought we're buddies!" Malagmus exclaimed.
"YOU GHOSTED ME AND KEVIN FOR LIKE FOUR YEARS!" Bromy exclaimed.
Malagmus shrugged.
"I had a good reason!" he explained.
"Anyway, I went to visit Kevin a few days ago..." Malagmus began.
"...oh no..." Bromy thought.
"Anyway, we'll catch up later, Abby's giving me a funny look and I think she might-" he was cut off by a dagger penetrating his skull.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Bromy looked into the distance and gave Abby a thumbs up, she nodded understandingly.
When Malagmus got up he patted his clothes clean and pulled the knife out of his head.
"Ok, that was mean, but whatever... let's get onto the next fight!" he exclaimed.
