《Binary Progression》Volume 5 - Chapter 20: COPPER

Marble, JohnWillSmart, Grim and Arthur were playing a game of Dungeons and Dargons in the great coral palace.
They sat in the large round meeting room.
The floors were marble and the table was made from enchanted, water-proof wood.
They all sat on soft chairs with red pillow-like seats.
All light came from magical crystals suspended around the room.
"Now, drip some blood on these!" Arthur commanded gesturing to little humanoid figurines.
They looked blank and didn't show any features other than limbs.
"What are those?" asked John.
"They're an item from the future, they're mostly used as props in movies and stuff, but can be used for games!" Arthur explained, he pricked his finger with some of his crack magic and dropped some blood onto the figurine.
"I want my figurine to look like me!" Arthur exclaimed as the figurine morphed to resemble a tiny version of Arthur, it even moved, displaying something of an "idle animation".
The others did the same.
"By dripping your blood on it, you allow the figurine to store some mana!" Arthur explained.
"Alright, I think our characters should be us - that way we can all get used to our abilities!" Arthur explained.
Everyone nodded.
"Your tale begins in the prison cell beneath the city of... Ctea?" Arthur began.
"Ctea?" JohnWillSmart raised an eyebrow.
"Yup!" Arthur nodded.
"We're in prison?" asked Marble.
"Yeah," Arthur replied.
"Fucking Bet*esda..." she sighed.
"Alright! What now?" asked Arthur.
"Shouldn't we roll initiative?" asked John.
"Ah! Right!" Arthur took out his set of dice.
Arthur rolled first, "9"
John rolled next, "18"
Grim rolled after him. "12"
Marble rolled last, "5..."
"Alright, so the order is, John, Grim, me then Marble!" Arthur exclaimed.
"IT'S MABLE!" Marble protested.
Arthur cleared his throat.
"Alright, what do you do now?" he asked.
"I look around the cell..." John said reluctantly.
"Roll the dice!" Arthur exclaimed handing the twenty-sided die to him.
John rolled it and suddenly, around their character models appeared a cell, it was almost like a hologram.
There was a bed, a carpet and a door.
"Whoa!" John exclaimed.
"Fancy, right? Enchanting and engineering combined can make some fancy stuff!" Arthur remarked.

"How's it work?!" Marble demanded poking the magic hologram with her finger.
"Eh? I don't... know..." Arthur shrugged.
"Can I take it apart?" she asked looking up to Arthur fully serious.
"What!? No! It's my only one! They won't exist for another ten years!" he exclaimed.
Marble nodded.
"I see, then I'll do it when you're asleep," she nodded.
"DON'T!" Arthur cried.
"I play the guitar to make everyone feel nice," Grim says.
"Alright! Roll the dice!" Arthur exclaimed.
He rolled a six.
"You play the guitar and nothing really happens..." Arthur explained.
A look of horror spread onto Grim's face.
Arthur looked around,
"I kick the cell door open!" Arthur explained.
"...what?" asked John.
"The cell door, I kick it open!" he explained as he threw the dice.
"1"
Arthur's figure charged at the door, kicking it only for his leg to explode into a cloud of blood.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"I use my feromancy to break the door open!" Marble exclaimed.
She rolled the dice, she got a two.
"The bars are made from titanium," Arthur explained.
"WHAT SORT OF CIVILIZATION HAS TITANIUM-WORK SO ADVANCED!?" she demanded.
Arthur cleared his throat.
"Roll the dice!"
She rolled a six.
"Your magic does nothing!" Arthur exclaimed.
"Tch! Fine..." she complained.
JohnWillSmart looked at the room.
"Alright, well - I think our best bet is to get out ourselves... so maybe we need to find a key to this room!" he explained.
"Logically speaking, there are four of us and one bed, so this is probably not our cell!" John speculated.
Arthur scratched his head awkwardly.
"Y-yeah! Y-you might be on to something!" he exclaimed.
"I completely forgot to add more beds!" he thought.
"I wonder..." JohnWillSmart looked to Arthur.
"I want to use shadow-step to escape this room!" he explained.
"..."
"Shit - that's like five minutes of convincing the guards to let us out thrown out the window!" Arthur thought.
"A-are you sure? What about the rest of the party?" he asked.
"I can shadow-step two people at the same time, so I'll just make two trips," he shrugged.

"..."
"Roll the dice..." Arthur sighed.
JohnWillSmart rolled a twelve.
Arthur sighed.
"Fine... you successfully help the group escape from the cell..." Arthur relented.
"Why do you sound so upset about this?" asked John.
The holographic room changed to show a long hallway, in it, stood a guard facing away from the party, there was a door at its end.
"I practice playing music until I get better," Grim said.
"...Alright... won't that alert the guard?" asked Arthur.
Grim looked at him with a stern expression.
"Fine... roll the dice," he said.
He rolled a twenty.
"Nice!" Marble exclaimed.
"You play such a good tune the guard doesn't even question it... also your music skills improve..." Arthur narrated.
Grim nodded.
He looked down to his character.
"I run over to the guard and rip his heart out of his chest!" he cried.
"..."
"..."
"..."
He was met with silence from all around the table.
"Aren't you a caster?" asked John.
"Eh... yeah..." he relented.
"I... crack him in half with my magic..." he sighed.
Arthur rolled his dice.
He rolled a seven, a crack formed cutting the guard's arm off.
"What?! I wanted to kill the guard!" Arthur exclaimed.
"You can't get an insta-kill with a seven out of twenty, dumbass..." Marble remarked.
"..."
Reluctantly, he let Marble take her turn.
"I use my feromancy to crush the guard with his own armour!" she exclaimed.
"His armour's made from copper, though," Arthur explained.
"Copper armour!? What is this, Ter*aria?!" she demanded.
"Look, it's a fantasy world - just deal with it..." Arthur sighed.
JohnWillSmart looked at the playing board and noticed a few pots.
"I smash the pots!" John exclaimed.
"Why?" asked Arthur.
"Trust me on this one!" John exclaimed.
Arthur handed him the dice and John rolled.
John rolled a thirteen.
His character smashed the pot.
"...ok, Grim," Arthur continued.
"I play the guitar and try and improve again," he said determinedly.
"...again?" he asked.
Grim nodded.
He rolled a twenty.
"..."
"You play the guitar again... and you're even better at it..." Arthur explained.
He looked to his character.
"I want to cast cracking magic on the guard!" Arthur cried.
He rolled a fourteen as his character shot another crack towards the guard, killing him.
Suddenly, the door smashed open as a dozen guards charged out.
"That's it! Prepare for the epic fight scene!" Thought Arthur.
Marble looked to JohnWillSmart.
"I looked through the smashed pots," she said.
Arthur looked at her in confusion.
"Alright... roll to see what you get,"
She rolled a two.
Arthur clears his throat.
"You search through one of the pots and discover it's filled to the brim with copper ore," he explained.
"Shit!" she exclaimed.
John looked at Arthur.
"I want to look through another pot," he said.
JohnWillSmart rolled an eighteen.
His character picked up a round, silver object from the pot.
"What is that?" asked Arthur.
John grinned.
"It's the magic mirror," John explained.
"SO THIS IS TE*RARIA!" Marble exclaimed shooting angry looks at Arthur.
"Whaaaaat?! No!" Arthur exclaimed.
"I look through the pots as well," Grim said plainly.
"NOT YOU TOO!" Arthur cried,
Grim rolled a twenty.
He picked up a weird blob of flesh.
"What is it this time?" asked Arthur.
"It's a suspicious-looking eye..." Grim remarked.
"Oh no..." Marble exclaimed as Grim looked to Arthur.
"I use the eye..." he said coldly.
He rolled the dice without any further permission and, of course, rolled a twenty.
The map display showed the wall shattered and a massive, veiny eye appeared.
"STOP DERAILING MY PLOT!" Arthur cried.
"I kill the eye!" Arthur exclaimed throwing the dice.
He rolled a twenty.
The eye exploded into bloody chunks.
Marble piped up.
"I collect the demonite!" she exclaimed.
"Did it drop any seeds?" asked John.
After Marble rolled, John rolled for the seeds, turns out the eye dropped a few.
Arthur was basically holding back tears at this point.
"STOP DERAILING MY GAME!" he cried.
