《Binary Progression》Volume 4 - Chapter 38: Side-quest

While Bromy, Bonifacius, John, Jordan and Boopnsnootn were making their way back to the jGuardian base, XPhaxX was running towards Levelgreen.
"The talking sword is probably made him give up… why else would the guy give up…?" thought XPhaxX.
"That means he'll respawn at the town, knowing we can't get there in time…" XPhaxX thought as he jumped off every nearby hill in hopes of cutting down his travel time.
His boots glowed a yellow light that was caused by his enchanter class, the skill called "Speed up" allowed him to give any item increased speed as long as it in some way affected locomotion.
He cut his travel time down by fifty percent already, additionally, he exploited the process by dragging his enchanted sword behind him since the friction slowed him, technically it affected his speed and thus gave him another fifty percent boost.
That's when he saw him in the distance, the massive, violet haired man in the town of Levelgreen, slashing his blades around and firing his guns.
As XPhaxX drew closer the fight in the town continued.
MrFinland unleashed a barrage of rock-arrows upon the foe, each one being deflected effortlessly.
A few ranged-fighters were present, though most were completely ineffective.
No melee fighter dared get closer to the executioner.
Into the massive man charged another massive man, Ed.
He planted a solid punch to the man's gun only to be countered when the freshly summed hatchet severed his right hand, not to be outdone the man performed a side-kick shattering the executioner's armour in places.
The armour was mostly leather, though it had large metal plates.
Once more he summoned a revolver and aimed it at the man's head only for Ed to use his other hand to snap the man's wrist with a loud crunch.
"You dare bring more fighting into my town?!" Ed demanded as he pulled his fist back, before he managed to hit the man's face, the executioner grabbed him by the hand and also shattered his wrist by just squeezing it.
Ed let out a cry of pain as he took a step back, unable to admit defeat he elbowed the man as hard as he could directly in the chest.

The executioner was visibly tired by the fighting.
"You're strong... I'll give you that..." laughed the executioner before taking before feeling a sharp pain on his hand.
"IF I CAN'T BEAT YOU TO DEATH, I'LL BITE YOU TO DEATH!" Ed exclaimed as he chomped down on the finger on which he had his skull-shaped ring.
"No! Not the ring!" cried the executioner as Ed spit his finger-wearing ring aside.
"Somebody! Take the ring somewhere safe!" Ed cried.
"You got it!" someone said casually as they grabbed it off the ground and ran away.
MrFinland rushed over to Ed, aiming his rock-bolt at the Orge.
He fired a single one at him but again it was blocked.
"What the?!" MrFinland exclaimed.
"I thought it was the rang that gave him the powers!"
"LET ME GO! MY RING!" cried the ogre as he was grabbed by Ed, with one hand missing and one wrist shattered he relied on his arm strength to keep the enraged ogre captive.
"What are you doing!?" demanded a villager.
"I think I know where someone will be able to deal with this monster!" Ed exclaimed looking up at the distant cliff where the jGuardian base loomed.
"What the hell are you doing?! You'll die!" MrFinland exclaimed.
Ed didn't say anything.
"If this is some attempt at you redeeming yourself, then pulling a kamikaze-move isn't nearly enough!" MrFinland exclaimed as tears began to form in his eyes.
Ed took one step forward as the ogre pounded on his back relentlessly.
"Redemption may be out of my reach..."
He took another.
"But redemption is just a stupid word for people who can't live with past mistakes..."
Then another.
"An excuse... to be a good person... for a short time..."
He looked up.
"I don't think I'll make it all the way there..." he thought.
XPhaxX made it to outside the gate of Levelgreen five minutes later where Ed stood on his feet, every muscle clenched near breaking point.
A steady stream of blood left his open mouth.
The ogre continued beating on the man's back, blood and bone lay exposed amidst the shattered iron armour the man wore.

The man stood dead on his feet.
XPhaxX approached the bloody sight.
He walked past the man and into the town.
"Everyone, leave the town at once, come back only when I tell you," XPhaxX commanded.
He walked up to the ogre and cut him free of Ed's arms.
The ogre grinned.
"Hah! Now I-" the ogre was cut off when his head slid off his body.
Five minutes later the Ogre respawned in the centre of the town, he looked down and saw his body.
XPhaxX sat opposite the monster sword in hand.
The monster looked down and picked up a sword someone dropped when they fled.
He charged at XPhaxX blade in hand only for XPhaxX to dice his hand and the sword before cutting his throat open.
"You may be good against slow opponents like Bonifacius and magic users like Bromy, but a fast melee fighter is your biggest enemy..." XPhaxX said with a hint of disgust in his voice.
"Wait! Let me escape! I'll do anything!" cried the ogre covering his throat to stop the bleeding.
"No thanks..." XPhaxX chopped the man in half vertically.
Again the man respawn.
"Listen! I won't even hurt a fly! I swear! Just please don't perma-kill me!" he cried.
XPhaxX looked to him with a look of pity and disgust.
"Tell me, how many people have you perma-killed?" XPhaxX asked.
The man shivered.
"Please! I don't want to go back!" the man exclaimed.
Again, XPhaxX sliced the man's head clean off.
Five minutes later he didn't appear.
Suddenly a red light appeared as from the body rose a humanoid-shaped light.
"NO!"
"ANYTHING BUT THAT!"
In the air a massive line appeared, it opened up, smiling a toothy grin and revealing a long, fiery abyss filled with teeth and chains.
With a dozen red red-hot chains, the soul of the man was grabbed onto and pulled into the abyss, screeching and crying for help.
As soon as he was in the long abyss the mouth-like opening shut and disappeared.
"Nice!" exclaimed the man standing behind XPhaxX.
He spun around to see a bored-looking scientist, rough dirty blond hair and a bit of a beard on his long face.
"Who the hell are you?" demanded XPhaxX.
"I am Lorb, the fan-favourite kind-of-god," he replied.
"Anyway... I came because as it happens, you have killed an uninvited person..." Lorb replied.
"Wait, you're one of the developers!" XphaxX exclaimed.
"Yeah, that whole thing aside, you killed Owen Violet, a very wanted and a very dead person Satan tossed into the Isekai waiting room a while back..." Lorb replied.
Confused, XPhaxX replied with a...: "What?"
Lorb sighed.
"Look, what matters is that he was meant to say in hell and now he's back in hell, now because of... a deal, me and Satan made during a game of god-poker, I can't just kick these people out..."
"So, I was kind of hoping you people could deal with it, and as a little incentive, for every person you kill, I'll grant you one wish, as long as it's not world-breaking," Lorb exclaimed.
XPhaxX scratched his chin.
"So... if I ask to go back to earth... could I?" he asked.
"Sure, I mean I'd ask you to tell someone about the whole, people from hell thing, but yeah," Lorb shrugged.
"So is that your wish?" he asked.
"Hell no! I love it here!" XPhaxX exclaimed.
"Aw, thanks, man!" Lorb exclaimed.
"So... one wish..."
"Can I ask to bring a player or NPC to life?" he asked.
"Sure."
"And whoever kills a person from hell gets a wish?"
"Correct."
"And if I kill two, I get two wishes?"
"Yep."
"Can you tell me how many there are?" he asked.
"Eleven."
XPhaxX looked to Ed and grinned.
"I want a device to help me track the hell-escapees!" XPhaxX exclaimed.
"Great choice!" Lorb exclaimed as in XPhaxX's hand appeared a plain-looking compass, in the middle of the device, a counter showed 1/12
It pointed east.
"Good luck!" Lorb exclaimed as he popped out of reality with a thumbs up.

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
