JohnWillStab, Alex and Jordan were going through the kitchen of the mansion, the scent of the burned undead in the oven filled the building.
"Found salt!" JohnWillStab exclaimed.
"Found mould..." Jordan sighed.
"Found wine!" Alex exclaimed.
"Oh, nice!" JohnWillStab turned to see Alex was tossing a dozen bottles of wind into a sack he found in the kitchen.
"Found cups!" JohnWillStab exclaimed holding out metal cups with rough-looking metal handles.
"Found more mould!" Jordan exclaimed in an exhausted tone.
"Found some dried fruit!" Alex said holding out a pouch filled with what looked like large raisings and apricots.
"You're pretty lucky..." JohnWillStab laughed.
"It's the luck stat," Alex exclaimed.
"...shit, you might be right!" JohnWillStab laughed.
"I think that's about all we're going to find here," JohnWillStab said heading towards the door.
Jordan sighed "Yeah, I found nothing but mould."
Jordan looked around, he picked a random plate up and found a gold coin.
"Luck!" he cheered as he placed it in his pocket.
"Nice, alright let's g-" JohnWillStab was cut off again by Alex.
He opened a cupboard they previously checked and pulled out a small pouch of gold.
"Cool."
JohnWillStab was starting to look salty.
"Are you done yet?" he asked.
"Is that all? Maybe there's something hidden... hmm... the floorboards!" Alex thought.
"One moment!" he exclaimed as he kicked-up one of the floorboards and pulled out a large sword, it was a golden colour and had a massive gem placed in the hilt.
"How the f-" Jordan was cut off by JohnWillStab.
"DON'T IT COULD BE A TRAP!"
Alex grabbed a hold of the blade already and a bright light filled the room.
Moments later it went away leaving everyone seemingly unharmed.
"Alex you dumbass!" John scolded him.

"Relax, we're all fine aren't we?"
"Don't go picking items off the ground! It could be cursed!" JohnWillStab exclaimed.
"Relax, remember my luck stat!"
"It's a bit heavy for my liking..." he sighed looking to the blade.
"God, you people are so loud..." mumbled a low, grumbly voice.
Everyone looked to the oven and saw that the skeleton inside was still just a skeleton.
"Who was that?!" JohnWillStab demanded, looking around with his daggers drawn.
"Uhh... explaining everything is such a pain..." said a voice coming from the sword.
"Did the sword just talk?!" Alex screamed.
"Stop being so loud, damn you!" the sword hissed.
"Throw the sword away! It's a mimic!" JohnWillStab instructed. Alex threw the blade at a wall, its blade lodging in the stone wall before appearing in Alex's hand once more.
"I'm not a mimic, damn you!" the sword exclaimed.
"I am Thal... Thal... Thal-something, the demon of... something or other..." the sword said lazily.
"HE'S TOO LAZY FOR AN INTRODUCTION!"
"Well! Get off me! I'm not giving you my soul!" Alex exclaimed.
"I'm not happy about this either, some asshole put me in this sword a thousand years ago... I barely have enough mana to stay conscious... much less take souls..." he complained.
"Look! Sword! Leave Alex alone!" JohnWillStab exclaimed.
"Oh, a fallen? I thought your kind stopped being produced..."
"What does he mean by fallen?" asked Jordan.
"And a human... can't say I'm surprised your kind is still around... such a pain..."
"I guess this is all pre-written lore for the game, he thinks it's real..." JohnWillStab speculated.
"Game? Ohh... I get it... you people are not from here..." he sighed.
"Wait, you know?!" Jordan demanded.
"You seriously think this world came into existence.... ehh... when did you people appear?" asked the sword.

"Last week," replied Alex.
"...hmmm.... last... week... seven days... let's see... this world has been created... by your definition a million years ago, Lorb created it with the purpose of creating a faithful replica of a real-world... since creating one by hand would be too fake... this means a million years of history truly existed for this world."
"...how the fuck do you know this?" demanded JohnWillStab.
"You people are such a pain... I am... I am Thal... one of the great demons lords of this world..." he explained.
"Not so great since you're in a sword..." Alex said smugly.
"Hmmm... yeah... the mortal races... deviated from the planned history... trapped us..."
"Us?" JohnWillStab asked.
"Ten of us... great demon lords... I don't remember... most of them..."
"Is there a way out!?" Jordan asked taking a step towards the sword.
"Of the sword?"
"A way out of this world! And back to my old one!" he reiterated.
The sword remained silent for a while.
"Yes." he finally said.
The looked on Jordan's face turned in pure joy.
"How!?" he asked.
"I don't know..." he explained.
His smile faded slowly.
"What do you mean?!" JohnWillStab demanded.
"I can't reach that far into my memory... this vessel... is too weak..."
"Come on! I need to get out! Even a clue! A clue would be fine!" Jordan pleaded.
"Hmmm... perhaps... perhaps if you release me... I will be able to think properly..." the sword offered.
"Nuh-uh! I am not releasing an evil demon-sword demon into the world!" JohnWillStab replied earning a dirty look from Jordan.
"Hypocrite..." scoffed the sword.
"You're such a pain..." he sighed.
After a while of silence, the sword spoke up again.
"Perhaps another demon remembers..." he offered.
"Where can we find them?" pleaded Jordan.
"Where indeed..." the sword taunted.
"If you don't tell me right now I'm going to put you back under the floorboards along with Alex's arm!" JohnWillStab threatened.
"As if that would work on me... but I will... entertain you... as much of a pain as it is... I do want to see how the world changed..."
"Alright! So tell us where to go!" JohnWillStab commanded.
"Beneath Mournwood... a temple of the frogs... rests Losnae... an asshole of a demon... they might... offer to help..."
"Mournwood... that's a level forty zone..." JohnWillStab observed.
"I'm not sure if the concept of a raid is known to you lot... but that's how I'd describe that location..." clarified the sword.
"A raid... that means that the level doesn't matter as much! Well... we still have to go there... plus a raid needs at least ten people... optimally twenty..." thought JohnWillStab.
Jordan looked at JohnWillStab, he could tell from his expression that the situation was dire.
"Is it... possible?" he asked.
JohnWillStab snapped out of his thoughts and looked over to the two.
"Sure... yeah!" JohnWillStab said reassuringly.
"Though we're not going to be there anytime soon!" he added.
"And we will need to get you raid-ready ASAP!" he continued.
"And expand our party..."
"Gear up..."
"That sound impossible..." Jordan exclaimed in a defeated tone.
"I deal with the impossible on a daily basis..." John thought.
"Now then! Off to the next quest!" JohnWillStab exclaimed.
"Straight away!? Can't we rest up a bit!?" Alex demanded.
"We'll never get ready for the raid with that attitude!" John exclaimed looking through his quest list.

At The Precipice
Defenseless. Scared. Alone. That describes the life of Brock Carter as of late. Following his ‘death’ at the hands of a vicious magpie, Brock is rescued by the machinations of the newly instated, all-powerful System and thrust knee-deep into a brutal world catered only to the strong. Fluctuating between two states of being and trapped within a city ravaged by time, he is told to either seek out the mysterious ‘Source’, or die trying. He just hopes he can do it without scuffing his expensive suit in the process. ***** Honestly, I've just always wanted to write a story. I had a crack at it a few years back, but the entire thing fell apart before it even began. At The Precipice was originally written as a way for me to destress and play with System elements and characters, but eventually I decided that if I was gonna write, why not post it too? Writing's just a hobby of mine, so don't expect this to be at published novel level, I guess, or even anything of relative polish. Updates every Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri Average chapter length is 2000 - 3000 words ***** What to expect: - A semi-comedic/light tone, mixed in with a gritty world and brutal survival (not ever grimdark though) - An MC that thinks about what he's going to do and why he'll do it, even if his internal logic is lacking. Is a rather rational person, not often influenced by his emotions, but can be in extreme situations. - A plot heavily focused upon the MC, but one that will branch off to envelope the other characters in the world at times. Often, it's just other people's perspectives of him. - A story of power growth. While the MC is certainly going to be powerful, even over 100 chapters in from what I've written, he still isn't the strongest being on Earth, let alone the entire Multiverse. - Lots of gore, vivid fight descriptions, and often times deaths of people, some even somewhat important to the story ***** Things this story will never have: - Harems - An edgy, villainous MC - An MC that does jackshit about things for 'plot reasons'
