《Binary Progression》Volume 1 - Chapter 15: Crown on the run

The chat became envigorated the moments ♕ revived Bonifacius and XxFoxlyxX
"Bonifacius: It would seem the boss has been successfully defeated!"
"JohnWillStab: I wouldn't go that far, my strategy killed 50% of the party..."
"XxFoxlyxX: That fact that this group managed to get this far without dying is actually kind of weird, fam."
"JohnWillStab: We're meant to die!?"
"JohnWillStab: Actually, I wouldn't put it past the devs to make something like that..."
"Bonifacius: No, no, it is simply expected that you die sometimes within a dungeon!"
♕ wasn't joining their celebrations/pity-party.
"These people... they're like fucking parasites, they bury themselves in your brain and make it so you can't enslave them! AHHH!" ♕ lamented to herself.
"Bonifacius: Worry not, Crown, thou couldn't have done anything about the deaths, thou were a necessary part of our victory!"
"XxFoxlyxX: You're annoying.. and show no respect for the sanctity of private chats, but without your cheats, we wouldn't have made it this far."
"JohnWillStab: I guess first impressions can be misleading."
"WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE ASSHOLES?! IT WOULD BE SO EASY TO SCREW THEM OVER IF THEY DESERVED IT!" ♕ thought.
"JohnWillStab: ?"
"XxFoxlyxX: You lagging, fam?"
"I KNOW! I'LL JUST TELEPORT OUT!" ♕ decided.
"♕: F#!k! I'm being tracked! I have to get out before they catch me!"
And with a flip of the door variable and a (risky) teleportation command ♕ was gone, followed by the sound of the large metal doors to the final boss opening...
Seconds later she left the party.
"Bonifacius: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: ..."
"JohnWillStab: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: Did you guys see that?"
"JohnWillStab: Yeah, crown just disappeared..."
"Bonifacius: No, Crown has not disappeared, twas an abduction!"
"JohnWillStab: So somebody else teleported her out?!"
"XxFoxlyxX: The JGuardian!"
Bonifacius nods,
"XxFoxlyxX: But how'd they find her?!"
"JohnWillStab: Remember the message we get when I use the business card? Security changes, maybe all the cheating she did here caused her to be detected?"

JohnWillStab was overtaken by a sense of guilt at possibly dooming a party member.
"Bonifacius: ..."
"Bonifacius: My companions, the next boss will take us at least twenty minutes to defeat, if we leave the dungeon, all the bosses will revive and our work will disappear..."
No response.
"Bonifacius: I fear the JGuardians will use more permanent methods to deal with an infamous hacker..."
"JohnWillStab: Permanent?"
"XxFoxlyxX: The JGuardians allegedly have a method of trapping players permanently, many players think it's just a made-up story to keep people behaving..."
"JohnWillStab: But if it exists..."
"Bonifacius: Know that I do not think anyone is responsible for this turn of events, but I must ask if you think it appropriate to find Crown?"
"JohnWillStab: Can we do it?"
"XxFoxlyxX: If we're fighting the JGuardians... no, not really..."
"Bonifacius: I understand, then I shall go investigate, please remain in the dungeons so that when I return we may finish it!"
"JohnWillStab: Now, now, don't put words in my mouth, I'm always down for a chance to explore this game."
"Bonifacius: I see! Then XxFoxlyxX, will thou guard the dungeon?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Bony, you misunderstand, I got eaten by a giant skeleton-snake five minutes ago, whether or not I think we have a chance has nothing to do with whether or not I'll go."
"Bonifacius: So thee agree to sacrifice the progress we made in the dungeon?"
"JohnWillStab: Yeah, after all, we can just come back here with Crown after we track her down!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Right."
"Bonifacius: I see! Then so be it! Let us leave this dungeons and head to town, I shall need to prepare for a serious fight."
The party walked out of the dungeon, as soon as JohnWillStab left the portal, his character exploded into bright lights multiple times - he was up to level 8 now and gained three new abilities.
Blade throw, Evasion and Disarm
"Bonifacius: JohnWillStab, thou will most likely be fighting too, thou will not stand a chance against a player above level twenty, let alone someone at level one-hundred."

"JohnWillStab: Yeah I guess you're right... I could at the very least be a distraction!"
"XxFoxlyxX: I might have something that would help you, actually."
"JohnWillStab: Really?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Yeah, it's a rare item I got packed in with a trade I made, it's kind of useless for most people..."
"JohnWillStab: I getcha - is it a weapon?"
"XxFoxlyxX: A scarf actually..."
"JohnWillStab: ?"
"XxFoxlyxX: A legendary item called the 'Blighted wraps' - when worn by an undead it increases the level and the rate at which you level your speed and athletics stats, but also makes it so that an enemy attack will decrease your stamina instead of your health."
"JohnWillStab: But don't undead have infinite stamina?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Not exactly, they always have 100/100 stamina - but your maximum stamina will be temporarily decreased by a certain amount, so instead of dying from one hit - you might list three or so before you run out of stamina and start taking damage normally."
"JohnWillStab: Are you sure you want to give me a legendary item? I'm basically broke..."
"XxFoxlyxX: Don't worry about it, the chances of me finding an undead that needs the speed and acrobatic stat is tiny, you can pay me back with a favour in the future."
The party made it to the bank which was (in the case of the local town) a metal cart filled with what looked like gold coins and jewels, in front of it stood an NPC who was the banker.
For those unfamiliar with how banks in MMOs work, a bank allows you to keep money and items in a large storage space which can be accessed from any banker in the world.
XxFoxlyxX traded JohnWillStab the Blighted Wraps.
JohnWillStab equipped his legendary item which looked like a grey scarf with a skull pattern, the skulls were essentially emoji faces, some had hearts in their eyes, others had their tongue stuck out... it was hideous, especially when combined with the hood JohnWillStab was wearing.
"JohnWillStab: It sure looks... interesting..."
"XxFoxlyxX: Don't judge a book by its hideous cover."
"JohnWillStab: You're right - I'm really grateful for this, Foxly!"
"Bonifacius: It does catch the eye's attention, alas it is the wearers that forge the reputation of an item, not its hideous design!"
"JohnWillStab: Is it really that hideous?"
"Bonifacius: If ugliness was temperature, thou would be wearing the sun."
"JohnWillStab: T_T"
"Bonifacius: That aside, I too have an item to give you!"
"JohnWillStab: ?"
"Bonifacius: Tis a Halloween item, it's quite rare, but nowhere near as rare as XxFoxlyxX's scarf."
JohnWillStab accepted the traded item and equipped it - it was called the "Backed Mask Of The Ferryman" - it looked like a rusty metal mask of a plague-doctor, with orange glass where the eye-holes would usually be.
The hood, mask and scarf made JohnWillStab edgy enough to slice people with a slightly intense stare.
"Bonifacius: Fits perfectly!"
"JohnWillStab: Does the mask give me any buffs?"
"Bonifacius: It will disguise your name in chat for those not in your party, it will simply appear as if your name was "???""
"JohnWillStab: Heh - I'm really starting to look like a rogue, right?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Yeah, like an angsty 13-year-old's idea of a rogue..."
"JohnWillStab: Is it that bad?"
"XxFoxlyxX: The race choice is not helping..."
"Bonifacius: Thou have nothing to be embarrassed about! I think thy costume look'th great!"
"JohnWillStab: Thanks!" but much like a compliment from a parent, Bonifacius' comment was not taken seriously by JohnWillStab, who was grateful nobody could see his name now.
"Bonifacius: Now then, let's storm the base of the JGuardian and free our companion!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Right!"
"JohnWillStab: YEAH!"
Meanwhile ♕ looked on in horror from the distance seeing that the dumpster fire of a plan she abandoned became a flaming tornado from hell which consumed any possibility of her showing her face to those people.

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
