《A Bored Immortal's Adventure with Reincarnation》Chapter 9: School Selection PR

Oh man, I sooooo wish I could see their faces right now.
After reveling in their shocked silence for a few moments, I got bored and prompted the examiner to show me where to stand.
Still shocked. he just silently pointed in the direction, I could feel the air move as he raised his arm.
Well, his brain must still not be working.
The direction he pointed to was just a bit left to where I felt Aaron and Adrian standing, well, that makes sense, as I was stronger than both of them.
As I walked steadily to my spot, I happily stroked the ring that was on my ring finger, recalling how I had found it a few weeks before we left for the Testing.
During those two years of training the brats, a lot of my training in the Mistwood forest had to be stopped, but instead I went into the forest once or twice a week and tracked down what I estimated to be a middle rank magical beast to fight. I never killed them, I only wanted the experience, as dealing with all of the all the magical materials I would harvest from them would be a pain, and I didn't have the heart to kill them and then just leave them to rot in the forest.
Unfortunately one day, while I was having fun bugging *cough* fighting a top level middle rank beast. I was ambushed by another magical beast of a similar level and had no choice to kill them both in order to preserve my own life.
I harvested both animals, who were some sort of wolf-bird hybrid, their bodies were covered in defensive but surprisingly soft fur and their heads had sharp beaks.
After skinning them and collect their claws and beaks, I gutted both of the creatures. A lot of interesting items have been found in the stomachs of magical beasts, often from the people they've eaten.
The first wolf hybrid had a few weapons, but they were all useless after having being corroded by the beast’s stomach acids.
However, in the second wolf hybrid's stomach I found a small ring in perfect condition. I tapped it with my fingernail, hmmmmm, probably metal, high quality too if its fine, the iron and steel weapons in the first wolfs stomach had had big chunks eaten out of them.
Curious, I probed out with my mana, hrmmmmm...... good mana conduction, but no spells inlaid, what idiot used good mana conducting material for a plain ring?
Still, this means I could design whatever spell I wanted.....

An idea came into my mind and I grinned, ohohoh, That would be Perfect!
It took me two full days to fully inlay the magical spell into the surface of the ring. Then the brat pack got their first day off in two years.
Time to test my new toy~~
I ran to the nearest Testing center, which was about 200 miles away, it took me about four hours to get there.
Once there, I sneaked into the hall and began interrogating *ahem* asking the people within if they knew how to recognize the levels with the lights of the orbs. Three guards and two maids later, I finally found some sort of apprentice dude who would suit my needs..
Dragging him to the empty central hall where the orbs were, I ordered *cough* asked him to tell me what my levels were when I touched orbs.
He had no choice but to obey......Eeerrrrmm, he politely agreed.
Sliding the ring onto my finger, I placed my hands on the orbs.
"M-middle rank Gale mana a-and S-storm ki"
I took the ring off and slid it into my pocket, then placed my hands onto the orbs again.
"M-m........middle rank H-h-hurricane for both mana and ki."
Hmmmmm, seems that because the ring is made of a mana based material, it couldn't suppress ki as well, but still.......
I grinned evilly, with this my plan could grow to even greater awesomeness!
True, displaying Hurricane rank at the age of seven would undoubtedly gain me the title of amazing genius, but my lower level would still earn me the title of genius, and this way, I could create a greater stage for the name of an ultimate genius that rose levels at an unheard of speed.
Instead of a flashing comet, I would be an ever present star that continually burned its presence into people’s minds.
Elder Shaw's announcement that the Testing was now over and the school representatives would now enter broke through my recollection.
I felt the wind move as a door was opened and a small crowd of people entered the hall. School representatives were only allowed to enter the hall after the testing was complete, in order to avoid any advantages that might be gained, like early recruitment of a powerful potential.
I sensed the more powerful people move in my direction, and the weaker towards the lower ranking children. Hmmmm, so the stronger the school, the stronger the representative?
An obnoxious voice suddenly burst out, it came from the group of stronger representatives.
"Hey, this kid is blind! Hey kid, you're standing in the wrong area, the failures are to the far right, not left."

I felt the air move as the pathetic idiot reached out to shove me, I prepared to teach him a Very Painful lesson, but before I could, a figure appeared rapidly in front of me, the speed of his travel blowing my long hair back.
Awwwwww........
Ugh, smells like an old person, probably that Elder Shaw guy, that movement was at about the same level as my unsuppressed speed.
"This boy is Middle rank Gale mana and Storm ki, I suggest you revise your opinion of him."
Yep, it was Shaw alright.
I heard murmurs from the group of representatives.
"......Pity he's blind..."
"...Yeah, if he could see, we would have taken him in a heartbeat, even if he didn't know how to read......."
"Such a waste of potential........."
Ah, prejudice at its finest.
I ignored them and began to evaluate each and every member of their group, trying to find the strongest person there. If my guess was correct, the strongest person there would belong to the best middle rank school available.
There! In the back, there was a silent man in the back who exuded an air of calm and control and he was a little apart from the group, as is no one dared approach him.
I immediately darted through the group and stopped in front of the man, then put my hands behind my back, tilted my head up as if I was looking up at him, and opened my eyes wide to complete the innocent façade.
"Ne~~ Mister, you're the strongest person here right? What school do you belong to?"
A bemused tenor voice answered my query.
"I'm the representative of the top ranked Middle level school, Dagda, and how exactly did you figure out
I was the strongest, little boy?"
Score!
"Aaaa~ since I'm blind, my other senses are a lot strong, so its only natural~~ Say, does your school have a dress code mister?"
"Ummmm, no? We allow our students to wear whatever they want, we recruit from all of the four kingdoms, so we like to encourage cultural exchange and interaction, and clothing plays a large part in that, what does it matter to you?"
Meaning, you're blind and shouldn't care about appearances. right?
"Ne~ I don't like to wear shoes , mister, do you think I could join your school?"
The representative wasn't sure how to respond to that, I couldn't practically feel his gaze on my bare feet.
"Ah, ummmm, our school requires a lot of reading and note taking so I don't think you would do well......."
Oho~~, he's also troubled by the blindness?
This might be fun~
I decided to play it dumb.
"Ara? why would reading and writing mean I wouldn't do well?"
"Well, um, because you can't read or write?"
Hahaha, here it comes~~
"Ah? But those things are really easy for me mister, why would you say I can't do them?"
"What! you can read and write! No Way!"
His surprise caused his true thoughts to be spoken~
Similar murmurs of disbelief ran through the crowd behind us.
At this point, Elder Shaw cut in.
"Ah, yes, young Felix displayed his ability to write quite well right before his Testing, for ermmm..... certain reasons."
What~ You don't want to say I caused the Redsword Lord to lose major face? Fine, I'll say it for you.
"Ah yeah, someone was being mean to me so I wrote this and said it out loud for everyone to hear, I think it was some noble guy......"
I pulled out the paper and made a show of waving it around at the whole group of representatives. Soon most of them were chuckling nervously.
The man in front of me patted my head.
"If I may ask clever little one, how exactly do you manage to read and write, when you're blind?"
"Ara? For reading the inked letters feel different from the plain paper and writing I just have to visualize it in my mind, its pretty simple you know~~"
"S-simple? Ah, um, well I guess it seems that way to you....."
Just get over it already, so I'm blind and can read, deal with it!
"So mister, can I join your school?"
"It seems so...."
Aaron's voice suddenly broke into our conversation.
"Ah! If Big Bro is going there I want to go too. Mom taught me to read too, so it shouldn't be a problem."
His arms wrapped determinedly around one of my own, as if worried he would be immediately left behind if he didn't hold on.
"Ah, I would like to go as well sir."
A polite, yet confident voice met my ears, it was Adrian. Hmmmmm, he didn't Sound like a prideful noble brat.....what a pity.......I had so many wonderful things planned out for him if he turned out as a brat.........Ehhhh, it’s too soon to decide things, there may be hope yet!
"Well, you're all qualified so I guess I have no problem with that."
And with that we were all enrolled into the top Middle rank school Dagda.
