《Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]》Book 4 Chapter 93: Muradon's Panic and Infa's Defensive Nature
Advertisement
'Freaks. All freaks. The whole-damned lot of them!' Muradon thought as he let his unique skill fully take over his play-by-play of Lipsilk and Eolande's match.
'First there was the girl that can literally become a shadow. That's like right out of that ninja cartoon, Narooto or whatever it was called! That's not even a unique skill! Beastkin are fucking scary...' Muradon thought as he wiped the sweat from his brow.
'Then there's that weirdo 8-tailed girl. What kind of creep smiles when you get hit by fire magic, of all things?! I know she's got mental difficulties, but c'mon, I can't be the only one getting concerned by that, can I? She only looks about 6-years-old for God's sake...' the man wondered.
Muradon really had to thank himself for being a scammer in his previous life in the states. Were it not for that, perhaps he wouldn't have gotten such a perfect unique skill to hide how much of a coward he actually was.
'And these two... The fairy and the, what did my skill call her? Taleth Tig? They're both monsters! How can a double-X-ranker trap triple-X-rankers in illusions?! And the fairy is blocking so many attacks with that weird barrier of his! All of these 'wanderers', they're all trouble!' Muradon decisively thought as he continued to skillfully narrate the course of the battle.
"That was... Surprisingly uneventful," Lone said in disappointment.
Eolande shrugged as she wiped the sweat from her brow. "It was closer than it looked. I'm almost out of MP."
"Even with your absurd cap?" Lone asked. Eolande didn't have as much MP as Soph, sure, but she still had far more than your average magic-focused double-X-ranker, that was for certain.
Lipsilk nodded, agreeing with Eolande. "Even I'm almost out of Mana Points. Were she not fooling as many of the more powerful contenders as she was with her magic then we might have even lost."
"It was smart to make them fight each other. For that, I'll give you some praise," Vice-headmaster Milos said.
'Am I looking for your praise?' Eolande privately asked as she rolled her eyes. "Two-thirds of our challengers were just horny teens or old men lusting after me, so it was easy to manipulate them with illusions into fighting each other. Illusion Magic Resistance is actually a really rare skill, so if you aren't prepared with enchantments to block illusion magic early on then you're basically done for."
Lone nodded. "That makes sense. Did either of you gain any new skills or level-ups?"
Lipsilk smiled. "Indeed, though I would rather not speak about such things in public, Lone. I hope you can understand."
"I don't care," Lone answered. "Eolande?"
She shrugged. "Yeah. I finally got Mental Pain Resistance. It seems I only needed to empty out my MP twice to earn that, huh?"
'I did think it was weird that she never learned that after her fight with the Emperor Corrosion Slime. I'm glad she finally got it though. Maybe I can start asking her to put more of her MP in the Eternal Mana Crystal now?' Lone's mind was clearly trying to figure out the best usage for Eolande's new tolerance to mental pains.
"I'm happy for you. It's a simple but very useful skill," Lone said as he smiled charmingly, earning him a pinch in the sides from Soph. "What? I can't smile at her now?"

Soph stopped pinching him to think for a moment before she reluctantly said, "You can..."
'I totally understand her getting worked up over me being attracted to Eolande and at Eolande's flirting, but c'mon, she can be a bit too jealous at times...' Lone thought as he rubbed his lover's head softly.
Eolande rolled her eyes at this scene. "I had to use pretty much all of my illusion skills and even a few enchantments for us to win so flawlessly. Luckily, all of them levelled up at least once. Quite the welcome surprise since they're all at expert or master rank."
Vice-headmaster Milos' eyebrow rose at that comment. "You're actually so proficient at illusion and enchanting magic? How old are you again?"
"Again? I've never even spoken to you before," Eolande said with a chuckle. "I'm 206,953-years-old. My birthday was just last week."
"I see," Archon Milos said a bit sadly. "A shame. Your species is a bit interesting but with talent like that... Sorry to have wasted your time."
"Ouch." Eolande was aware that he was essentially saying that her talent was at an ordinary level which stung her ego considerably.
She was already suffering through lacking-confidence since she was surrounded by geniuses. She really didn't need him to say that to her right now.
Lone frowned. "One, talent means fuck-all; hard work matters way more. Two, why didn't you tell us it was your birthday a week ago?"
Eolande smiled coyly as she hugged her wand - the same wand that Lone had specifically created for her at the Eastern World Tree, the one with a large sapphire acting as its focusing gem. "You already gave me an excellent gift, Lone. I'm not greedy for more. Besides, after the first 100 or so birthdays, you really stop caring about them."
Vice-headmaster Milos and Lipsilk both nodded to that and simultaneously said, "Agreed."
Lone puckered his lips in thought as he decided to use Clicker's Power on the magical weapon.
Lone's Love Description
Created by the infamous foxkin, Lone Immortus with unidentifiable magic. It should have been impossible to create such an item, but Lone Immortus' unique magic made the impossible possible.
This wand was created with the sole purpose of fully utilising the Elder Tylwyth Teg's Illusion and Enchantment Magic to allow more efficient usage of both those things.
This wand has the potential to grow an ego.
Rank Mythic Stats Durability: 4,742,126/5,000,000 Magic Amplification: 5,000 Magic Conservation: 2,500 Magic Reflection: 1,000 Magic Regeneration: 500 Weight: 2 Abilities Passively grants [Wand Mastery] Beginner Level 10 to the wielder. Reduces the cost of all Illusion and Enchantment magic by 60%. May only be used by the hosts, Lone Immortus and Eolande.
"Man, that name still ticks me off," Lone muttered. He was glad that Soph was too busy concentrating on fighting her splitting headache to check the wand out as well.
Perhaps she would cut it in half with one of her Barrier Blades were she aware of Eolande's chosen name for it.
Eolande looked a bit hurt by those words. "It's just a little joke..."
Lone wore an awkward look on his face. "Give it here. I'll upgrade it tonight."

"Lone..." Eolande wore a genuinely joyful expression as tears threatened to trickle out of her eyes. "Kindnesses like this are why I shall never stop loving you even if Soph doesn't ever accept me as your mistress..." she whispered as she handed the wand to him.
Lone got a chill up his back. "Stop using your inherent charm," he requested as he shoved her weapon in his Dimensional Storage.
"I'm always suppressing that, Lone. Remember? You asked me to. Enchantments don't disappear just because the caster runs out of MP," Eolande teased as she floated away.
Lone was then immediately assaulted by a barrage of questions from his second magic master, Vice-headmaster Milos. Apparently, his Dimensional Storage had greatly intrigued the eccentric wizard.
At the same time, Infa and Garadia's match had been properly announced by Muradon, so it was time for the two dragons to head to the centre of the arena and fight.
"I notice that your sister hath left the booth, mine daughter," the Divine Fire Dragon said to the lazy dragon who was still laying down on the floor.
Geruphanda shrugged her massive shoulders as she yawned, revealing two rows of jagged teeth sharp enough to bite through steel. "She's only an S-ranker, so she qualifies to be able to fight those two dragons."
"Would you hath participated alongside her were you a few ranks weaker?" the Divine asked testingly.
"Nah," Geruphanda answered immediately. "I don't care about money, plus, that's a Radiance Dragon. I may not know much about lost and forgotten species like Lemurians, but I know a lot about dragons, Dad. You should know that."
"Is that so, mine daughter?" An amused look entered the Divine dragon's massive red eyes. "Then, pray tell, Geruphanda, what exactly is that male dragon?"
"Huh?" Her father rarely asked her questions like this without a reason. She squinted her eyes and frowned. "Looks like a Rock Dragon to me and a brown one at that. Poor kid. He can't be older than 5-years-old, maybe 6. I guess he got kicked out of his family for his rock colouration and was picked up by the ninetails or something?"
"Haha, that child is not so simpleth. I fear, however, that we shan't be able to witness why, exactly. That Radiance Dragon is powerful. It is to my understanding that she dealt a critical blow to Ythmagobla, forcing his retreat, and that was when she waseth a B-ranker," Divine Eruption stated.
"What?" Geruphanda was confused. "But she's only an H-ranker as far as I can tell. Is it possible to get weaker?"
"Indeed, for mortals, such is normal when reaching the end of one's lifespan," the Divine explained.
"But she's a dragon and a direct child of a Primal, not to mention she's a baby no bigger than my hand. Did she, like, reincarnate or something? That's pretty impossible as far as I'm aware," the young Fire Dragon claimed.
A look of mirth consumed her father's scaly face. "I wondereth about that, mine daughter, I wondereth indeed..."
"Just as a friendly reminder, challengers, Vice-headmaster Milos of The Academy will prevent any lethal attacks to the two infant dragons Garadia and Infa via his space magic, and, anyone who tries to perform a lethal attack shall be added to a list that will be given to Lone Immortus. What he will do with this list only he knows," Muradon's projected face said playfully.
He then smiled widely and said, "Now then, let the second-to-last match of the day begin!"
Meanwhile, in Lone's mind, a certain Primal was having a panic attack. 'She will remain unharmed, won't she, Mighty Mortal?!'
Lone sighed. 'Yes. Why, are you worried that she can't take out those challengers? Sure, there's over 200 of them greedy for the chance to defeat a dragon or two, but I specifically made sure that no one above S-rank could join in.'
'But what if that mage's magic does not work and she fails to evade or block a fatal blow?! How powerful is that Rock Dragon? He seems decisively average by all accounts. He's only an H-ranker himself like my poor Garadia is!' Radiance was really starting to annoy Lone.
'Listen, woman, what do you want me to do about it? Trust Milos to stop fatal attacks and trust Garadia to protect herself. I know she's strong. I can feel it. She's the child of a Primal, for Christ's sake. She's like a mini Ythmagobla only of the Radiance variant, so shut up, would you?' Lone demanded.
Immediately Darkness burst out into laughter while Radiance apologised for getting too worked up. Not a moment later Sky made his presence known and forced the other two Primals to return to their duty of sealing and restricting Void.
'Fuckin' finally, some peace and quiet. God, it's hard to think with a worried parent moaning directly into your head,' Lone complained as he cleaned out his ears. 'Now, Garadia, Infa, show me what you're capable of. I have faith in both of you.'
Dozens of spells had been successfully chanted and were now whirling their way towards Infa. The peaceful Rock Dragon didn't really see a reason to fight and his few racial skills were entirely defensive in nature unlike his fellow Rock Dragons who usually had a spread of defensive and offensive racial skills.
In light of this, a low rumbled escaped Infa's mouth. "Mountainous Bulwark."
An earthquake appeared out of nowhere and resulted in several challengers toppling over while a massive peak erupted from the ground. All of the spells targetting Infa and Garadia had immediately been blocked and rendered inert by the sudden mountain that had sprung up from out of nowhere.
"Radiance Sister, I hope you have a skill or two that can help us defeat these people. I have limited Stamina Points due to my age and rank, so I can only defend for so long and should I use my body to attack then I fear I will end the lives of these mortals," Infa said in that deep and powerful voice of his, though the concern in his tone was plain for all to hear.
A sharp look entered Garadia's eyes.
"Gao!" she enthusiastically replied.

Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
