《I Come From The Water》24: The World Is Unforgiving

(Lave POV)
With a reverse grip on my daggers I plunged into the charging mob aiming for the captains head, or what ever level of knight he is. Honestly I don't know but he is high enough up there to give orders. “Gran pull your self together and look for your fucking boat!”
I blocked a sword aimed for my throat while kicking my attacker in the groin. As he doubled over in pain I slashed across his arm pit. Blood gushed out signifying that I had managed to sever his artery. Pushing back with a half turn I stabbed the knight behind me in the neck. His sword fell to the ground as he choked. The horrible gargling noise making me grimace. Two down and an infinitely increasing number to go.
The undetermined rank of knight that gave the orders to attack us was no where to be found. I clicked my tongue in irritation while imbedding my dagger into a skull causing the receiver to collapse onto the ground. I was hoping that taking him hostage would give us a more advantages position.
“Lave! we are going to move closer to the ships!” Amice called from somewhere behind me. When I had dived into the group Amice had gone over to Gran and was protecting him.
“Yeah, why don't we shout all our plans out to the enemy just to make it easier for them.” I called sarcastically. Grabbing the wrist of one of the guards I pulled him forward into another causing them to impale each other. “And why did you say my name? Its like you want us to die.”
Whispers could be heard through the mob saying that I was the 'demon spy' they were looking for. At least when I called out Gran's name it was different then the one on the wanted poster. I pushed off of a knight using him as a launch pad and causing him to stumble back into those surrounding us. Twisting in the air to get a better grasp of the situation. I threw my daggers at the people below cutting through the crowed indiscriminately. Killing some and only wounding others. I pulled the wires to keep them going.

Landing on a head I launched off again towards Amice and Gran. Amice is proving just how deadly she is by preforming a one handed sword dance while dragging Gran who seemed to be foaming at the mouth. “Tsk, what is that idiot doing?” Finally able to confirm what direction they are going in, I landed on someones sword my weight dragging them to the ground.
Pulling my dagger back I sliced him across the eyes and began running towards Gran. That idiot is the one we need to find the ship and he was passed out. I huffed in anger while fending off the blades. Suddenly a torch was shoved in my face blinding me. I pulling back from the scorching heat I panicked. I pulled my scales to the surface of my skin coating my body like sturdy armor.
Great now I'm on land and blind at the same time. I grabbed the torch and shoved the flaming end back the way it had come. A satisfying scream let me know that someone had been burnt. I thew the torch away and began swinging my daggers around like a shield and to feel if it snagged on anything.
I blinked my eyes rapidly to try and restore vision. That eyebright will last for at least another hour. A sword struck out and crashed into the swinging dagger. It wrapped itself around the object and sliced the flesh holding it like it had a life of its own. I pulled my dagger up yanking the sword from their hands and fling it into the air.
The sword came crashing down hitting a random person. Shouts of warning and fear filled the air as I continued throwing the swords from my victims. Each time one fell another guard or knight would fall. Truthfully that could be avoided if they just stopped clustering or giving me swords. On instinct I kicked in front of me as hard as I could.

A gasp could be heard as it collided with solid iron. I frowned feeling my leg being held tight by whoever I kicked. “Well that's a surprise. I thought for sure you couldn't see with the way you've been swinging those daggers around.” I pulled one of my daggers in and slashed at the hand holding my leg while the other curved around aiming for where his head should be.
“Wow there.” My leg was released and I jumped back. A sharp blade passed just in front of my face. My frown deepened. “You sure are giving my boys a hard time missy and the fire you started isn't helping.” This would be so much easier if I could see or was in the water. Stupid Gran.
I started swinging one of the daggers around again to shield my back and side while I focused on the man in front of me. My other dagger held defensively in a reverse grip with the flat edge resting along my arm steadying it. I sniffed the air trying to smell smoke to see if he was telling the truth. If so I have to get a move on because there's no telling what's in those crates.
As my dagger collided with something I pulled my other one up guarding my heart. I staggered slightly from the force of the blow but managed to redirect it to the side. Stepping in I slashed out feeling slight resistance at the other end. Shallow. I pressed forward trying to get a more substantial cut.
Pulling my dagger in I shoved the sword away with the other. I plunged it forward in the direction I believed him in. Nothing. I pulled back trying to create distance. Panicked shouts and running could be heard. A blast sounded behind me making me fly forward smashing into a wooden beam of some sort. Shards of wood and metal flew by and burst of heat filled the air. I groaned and slid down the pole gasping for breath.
My ears rang causing me to be disoriented. Great now I'm blind and deaf. I rolled over so I was on my stomach and shoved up onto my knees. At least the ringing will die down after a little while. However my vision will take much longer to heal now after that fiery blast.
A strong force sent me skidding across the ground. Muffled voices sounded out around me as I lay still waiting for the cause to make another attack. And there it was. The second pressure landed on my side I grabbed the leg and pulled causing a man to fall down next to me. I pulled a dagger out from my boot and stabbed him. A muffled shout and curses escaped from the victim.
I rolled away in order to get up. However the ground ended beneath me. My eyes opened wide in fear as I fell. Curling up into a little ball I hoped it would lessen the impact. With a sharp crack I hit the ground. My mind spun the ringing and in ability to see making it worse. I shifted trying to get my injured body to work but a heavy object landed on top of me knocking me out.

She has a fancy unique class and a companion. But both gifts come with strings attached, and why did she have to teach the succubus on her shoulder what 'consent' means? This is my first story! Note: The prologue differs wildly in tone from the rest of the story. I'm playing it safe on the tags. I don't think the story really deserves the profanity or gore content warnings, but the main character does swear and get hurt. That said, the main character is a succubus. Sexual content is a given.
