《I Come From The Water》17: What To Do

(Amice POV)
“Lave, what have you done?” I asked in confusion while looking at the scene in front of me. Five men laid on the floor with pools of blood forming underneath them. They were dressed in the Church's Holy Knight uniform. Granted it was pretty low ranked.
The Owner of the Inn was cleaning up the scattered drinks and shoved tables. “Created a mess. That's what she's done.” He replied gruffly. Lave was examining a sword that came from one of the men. She flicked it a couple times testing it out. With a nod of satisfaction she took the belt and scabbard from an unconscious man with a foot wound, and wore it.
“Did she really just steal a Holy knights sword?” Asked Gran. He was just standing in the entrance refusing to enter the Inn.
“Hm, that's what is looks like.” Lave started going through their pockets pulling out coins and anything she is interested in. While a still conscious knight is struggling to get up.
“And now she's just mugging them.” Gran groaned in defeat. I walked up to the conscious knight and knocked him out. “Why would you do that!?”
I furrowed my brows at him. “What? You want him to remember what we look like? They already know what Lave looks like. We don't need them to remember us as well.” I started going through his cloths looking for some ID.
“She's right you know. If you don't want to be involved with the Holy Knights its better if they don't know your face.” The Owner said now whipping blood off the floor and counter.
“I'm sorry but why are you so calm? This is your Inn and there are five unconscious Holy Knights laying on the floor. Shouldn't you be doing something about it?” Asked Gran.

The Owner chuckled. “This isn't the first time people have fought in my Inn and it certainly won't be the last. Though it is the first time Holy Knights have ended up on the floor. However that's just the kind of place this is. Law doesn't really hold well here.”
“Ah, found it.” I pulled out a metal card with the knights name and devision on it.
'Thirteenth Devision'
'Companion At Arms'
'Clarence Gem'
“Ha, these people aren't even Knights yet.” I laughed while flicking the card. “With luck whatever they say will be dismissed as a lie.” I shoved the card back into his coat pocket.
“I doubt it little missy.” Interjected the Owner. “They came here looking for someone. Showed a wanted poster and everything. My guess is, they'll take anythin' they say as the truth. In fact it looked an awful lot like the guy standing over there. Not that I care.”
“Well I guess we'll just have to leave town before that.” I replied happily. “No offense but I really didn't want to stay here tonight.”
“Hahaha, yeah I wouldn't imagine my Inn is good for you. Its more for her kind.” The Owner said with a thumb in Lave's direction. She stood up and walked to the Owner pointing at a bottle behind the bar. “Ah, that's two copper.” He said holding up two fingers and grabbing a mug.
Lave nodded and placed them on the counter, and began drinking. Ah, that's so cute.

(Lave POV)
I managed to make quite a bit of money today. True some people would say that taking money from people you beat up is wrong. However I prefer to think of it as gambling. They gambled that they would win and beat me up, but they lost. So now they have to pay up.

There is an old saying. 'Treat people the way you want to be treated.' And if your going in to kill, maim, or otherwise harm then you should expect the same thing from your opponent. In fact I expect a lot worse if I am ever to lose. Just imagine how much a poor defenseless Mermaid would go for on the black market. Not that my new master would make it out alive if it ever came to that.
I chugged the last bit of drink and set the wooden mug down. It wasn't as strong as I had hoped, but still good. Nodding to the Owner I turned to Amice and Gran for what we would do next. Gran was sighing with a depressed look on his face and Amice was in one of her usual dazes.
Ah, while I'm thinking about it I need a map. Now how am I going to get one. Looking around the Inn I saw what looked like a child's drawing of some of the city streets. Tapping the bar I pointed at the 'map', widened my arms, and tilted my head hoping he would get it. The owner looked confused for a moment.
“አንድ ካርታ?” He asked. Hoping he got it I just nodded. He scratched the back of his head while looking troubled. Sighing he walked to the back of the building. Banging and a couple of crashes rung out through the building. Finally he came back with a folded and dusty paper.
“እዚህ ላይ.” He unfolded the paper out on the counter. The map was very faded and torn in some places. Obviously it has been used for quite some time. “እዚሁ ነሽ. Haze ከተማ ውስጥ.” The Owner said while pointing to a word next to some poorly drawn mountains. Well at least what I think is mountains.
I nodded while analyzing the map. There has to be an ocean somewhere. Don't tell me this is a world without a large body of salt water. I had a moment of panic until I noticed that there where strange cut off areas on the map. Pointing at one I tilted my head.
“በጊብዓ, ውኃ ነው.” He moved his hands in a wave like motion. Pointing at that spot again I made a drinking motion. “አይ.” He said while shaking his head. Yes! That's what I want. Amice finally came over and was studding the map next to me.
“እኛ መሄድ ያስፈልገናል ቦታ የለም!” She said happily while pointing at a word near the strange cut off that means ocean. Gran ran over and started arguing with Amice.
Ignoring the two I pulled out a couple sheets of paper, a urchin spine, and some ink. I found that normal pens and pencils don't hold up so well in the water. However they do make some amazing and cheap water proof paper. I began copping the map so that I would have one. As I struggled to write the words down the Owner motioned for me to give it to him. He spun the paper and wrote the words down for me.
Shaking it so that the ink drys quickly I thanked the Owner. Which really was just a smile and a nod. Quickly I folded up the improvised map and put it away. I really need to make my eye drops. I thought with a sigh.
