《The Unwanted (Dark Fantasy LitRPG)》Chapter 16

“Eyes peeled,” Sharp said, “Large room ahead.”
The group moved with Sol in front cautiously. As the Immortal stepped out into the large room he relaxed his guard slightly.
“Anything?” Sol asked.
“No traps and no enemies,” Sharp replied.
Tower tightened the grip on his club, “Go in first Sol.”
Sol left the group at the entrance and made his way into the room. It looked like a banquet hall, six pillars held up the roof with three on each side. There were tables and chair marks on the floor in the center but there was none in sight.
He looked around and saw a sprawled out work desk with drawings scattered on the wall. There were all sorts on the desk, eyeballs, rotten meat, magic crystals and most noticeably- demon horns.
“Sharp!” Sol shouted back, “Is there another room here?”
“On the same wall as you’re looking, towards the back!”
“You’re lying!” Sol echoed back, “There’s nothing there.”
“Just secure the area!” Tower barked.
Sol did just that and gave the all clear for them to come in.
Spike found the work desk first and walked over to it, “He’s been working hard,” he stated, jokingly.
Sharp headed over with interested eyes, he began to examine the drawings. He pulled one down and looked it over.
“The anatomy of a demon,” he said while rubbing his chin, “and these?”
He pulled out a piece of paper with what looked like hundreds of equations. Sol knew some of them as basic magical equations but they definitely weren’t basic by any means.
The rest of the group caught up with them.
“Can you make sense of these?” Tower asked, the man was just as clueless as the rest of the group.
“Well… yes and no.”
“That’s not an answer.” Tower responded.
“T-t-these are equations for speciality magic, crossed with void magic and whatever this void crystal is. It’ll take me days to make sense of it. I-I’ll need to lear-”
Tower placed a hand on his shoulder, “Relax,” he said calmly.
Sharp hated not knowing things and the whole team knew it. He was the brains of their team and often panicked when he couldn’t solve something.
Sharp took a deep breath in. “This man is extremely clever, I’d hate to say it but far past me in this field. Whatever he’s doing he’s smart about it, perhaps crazy.”
“Necromancers are known for being smart.” Sol stated, “It’s not surprising.”
Sharp shook his head, “It’s beyond that.”
Tower nodded, he trusted everything Sharp said. “You said there was a room?” He asked.

“Yes, it’s just ove- oh. Secret door.”
Sol cracked his neck, “One of those boss fights, huh.”
“Take all this,” Tower ordered, “I’m sure you can crack it later.”
Sharp nodded and began to put everything in his storage pouch, he practically cleared the table. He wouldn’t admit it but he also got excited about solving puzzles and doing maths which the group could never make sense of.
“Could I have a look?” Elora asked. With her privileged upbringing she was bound to know some of it.
“After,” Tower remarked to which Elora nodded politely.
The group then checked the rest of the large room but found nothing but cobwebs and insects. They all then headed over to the apparent secret door that Sharp had pointed out. It just looked like the rest of the walls near it.
“Sol, can you touch all around the wall?” Sharp asked.
“Sure,” Sol said, confidently.
And so, Sol began to pat around the wall. “Why am I doing this?” he asked.
“Trigger locks.” Sharp replied.
Sol patted the wall from top to bottom but nothing happened.
Spike laughed, "I can’t believe I just watched you slap concrete for five minutes.”
Sharp scrunched his face up, “He’s a sly one, but I can see through him,” he said. He then pulled out what looked to be a magical screwdriver.
“Ooo, going Sherlock Gnomes on us?” Spike asked.
“It’s Sherlock Holmes,” Elora replied.
“I’m pretty sure the movie is called Sherlock Gnomes.” Sharp said with confidence.
Sol raised an eyebrow, “You know Spike, I think you’re right,” Sol joked. He got a giggle from Elora in response.
The mohawked man just rolled his eyes.
“Sharp?” Tower questioned.
Sharp just pointed a shush finger at Tower as his magical screwdriver rotated against the wall. The giant man went to tell him off but Sol grabbed his arm.
“You know what he’s like,” Sol whispered.
Tower lifted his head up in thought then agreed to drop it. Sharp often got like this.
“Gotcha, you bastard!” Sharp shouted. He jammed his screwdriver in and rotated it.
There were no mechanical sounds, only a faint whoosh of the wall vanishing.
“Illusion magic?” Tower questioned.
Sharp nodded, “With a dash of reality magic,” he said.
“Reality magic?” Elora asked.
“I’ve never heard of it,” Sol said.
Sharp smiled, “It doesn’t exist,” he said. No one asked why so he answered himself, “forgotten magic, it is one of the only runes we have that classify it as reality magic. I read about it in the library.”

“‘Course you did,” Tower said with a bright smile, “Nice job, Sharp.”
Tower turned to Sol, “Take the lead. If you think it’s a boss fight then double back.”
Sol nodded and the group made their way through the secret door. The intricate carvings on the wall were now changed with bare rock. The ceiling was lowered and the stench of rotting flesh was becoming stronger.
Tower coughed as he smelt it, “The miasma is so strong down here. Even with the pill it’s not doing much.”
Elora put her helmet on and the rest tried as best to cover their nose and mouths. At the end of the tunnel it opened out into a large hallway where the strong miasma was coming from.
Sol entered first and his mouth dropped. The rest of the group did too.
Iron bars lined the side of the giant hallway. They were all packed with undead, all groaning as they all crushed each other. There were beasts packed in with demons, humans and ogres. The group was mortified.
“What the fuck,” Sol stated.
“This is-”
“Wrong,” Sharp finished.
“Eyes ahead!” Tower barked.
Their eyes shot forward to the end of the hall where it opened out further into a circular cave. All they could see was a giant cylinder in the center which housed a glowing black crystal.
“That’s the void crystal,” Sharp said.
“Should we move ahead?” Sol asked.
Tower hesitated, he didn’t know what to do.
“Shit!” Tower grunted, “Move forward. Be ready to run at any time.”
“Yes, Sir!” The group said while moving forward.
They tightly moved together as they bristly walked towards the end of the hallway. They entered the circular room to see it was larger than they expected. The cylinder was huge and there were multiple cracks across it. At the back of the room there was a hooded man bent over a huge dead demon.
It had grey skin with purple claws and horns. It easily stood at 40ft tall and packed with muscles upon muscles.

“He’s a half-lich!” Tower shouted.
The hooded figure turned around slowly with his head still covered by his cloak.
“The Unwanted? Here to kill me?” The man said, his voice sounded crooked and raspy.
Tower moved and instructed the group to move into formation. “I guess you won’t come easy then,” he said, buying time.
The man lifted the hooded from his head and grimly smiled. Half his head was rotten down to the bone and his left arm was just bones.
“I just wanted to be left alone in peace, but someone always has to meddle,” the Necromancer said.
The group ignored his comment and moved forward slowly.
“You got through that horde and the demon traps too, so I must be dealing with quite capable foes,” the necromancer said with a grim smile
“We can kill you or take you alive,” Tower said, “Your choice.”
The man laughed maniacally, “If you kill me it will let loose those undead you passed by. They will scale that drop and feast upon those poor refugees in the fort. Not before they rip you all limb from limb.”
The group ignored him and the man turned an upper lip, “So be it!” He shouted.
He turned back to the giant dead demon in front of him and poured miasma from his hands. It invaded the demon’s blood stream and then into its brain.
“Sharp!” Tower shouted just as two mana arrows passed his head.
The two mana arrows hit the necromancer’s head but he didn’t budge. Elora fired a bullet of blue flame but a giant grey hand blocked it.
Level 72 Undead Commander Demon*, Titan Strength, Kin-Eater, Miasmic Enhancer, (See More)
The undead demon climbed to its feet causing the group to halt immediately. The necromancer curled his boney hand and the wall exploded next to them. Skeletal demons poured out and ran straight for them.
“Sol! Keep the commander at bay!”
Sol moved lightning quick, dodging broken arrows and spears as he made his way to the giant undead demon. Tower clearly wanted him to buy time until they had sorted out the horde of undead.
He jumped up and stuck his dagger into the demon’s flesh. It only went in a few inches but it was enough to draw it’s attention. Suddenly, a black ball of death magic hit him and he fell crashing off. He looked over to see the lich's hands pulsating with black magic.
His health had already dropped by half but his stamina was full. He dodged to the side from a stomp and put a healing potion to his mouth. He would try to stay alive as much as possible since it was always his trump card.
Tower charged into the horde of undead demons with his giant club, Mute was by his side. Blue flames and mana arrows flew over their heads causing bones to explode.
Spike was in the back buffing everyone with a determined look on his face. His voice and metal guitar echoed over the ensuing battle.
