《Colossus' Legacy》(1) Summoning.

In the throne room of the Drezarus Kingdom, deep within the royal palace, many essential figures gather. Sitting on his throne, the King quietly eyes his ministers and generals who’ve gathered before him. A sombre atmosphere lingers in the grand hall. The throne room’s door close shut as the final figures, dressed in ceremonial robes, enter.
The room is completely silent as everyone stares at the throne. The King clears his throat and says, “I’m confident that everyone present knows the dire circumstances we find ourselves in. Demonic beasts have attacked our borders and are slaughtering our armies. We are barely forcing a stalemate, but their numbers are near endless and stronger demonic beasts join their ranks each day.”.
The King stares at his subjects, but none of them dare to meet his gaze. “We are doomed to ruin if we can’t find a solution to this invasion. Thus, I’ve asked the temple for assistance,” the King says, gesturing towards a group of robed individuals.
Leading the group, a priestess, dressed in gold, walks towards the centre of the throne room. Meeting the King’s gaze, she begins speaking, “The Goddess of Light has answered our prayers. She understands our plight and has instructed me to summon four heroes. The Heroes will find and destroy the source of the demonic beasts.”
“How strong will these heroes be and where will they come from? A mere four people are insignificant compared to the hordes of demonic beasts we face on the borders,” the King asks, his concerns understandable. “Unfortunately, their strength won’t be that great initially. The four heroes are to be summoned from a different dimension and thus their strength is incompatible with this world,” the priestess explains.
“Knowing this, the Goddess has offered up a great deal of essence to the System to form four titles. The heroes will each receive a title that’ll allow them to grow in strength quickly,” the priestess concludes. The King frowns in contemplation and finally decides, “Begin the summoning ceremony, each second we waste, more of my soldiers are slaughtered at the front lines.”.

“Certainly,” the priestess nods. Around her, the other robed priests assemble into a circular formation. A strange hymn, akin to a musical song, is heard from each of the priests. Holy power gathers between them, transforming into an intricate formation. Each second, the holy power glows brighter, blinding the onlookers.
The hymn comes to an end, the light brightly flashing before disappearing. In front of the priestess, four individuals appear. Each of them is dressed in modern, earthern clothes, quickly identifying the dimension they originate from. Two of them are male, and the other two are female. Each seems to be in their mid-twenties. A bewildered look appears on each of their faces as they survey their surroundings.
“Welcome, heroes!” the priestess exclaims, drawing the four’s focus. “We are thankful that you answered the Goddess' summons, fully knowing the perilous circumstance of this world.”. The Goddess of Light told them about the hordes of demonic beasts that threaten this world. She also explained that they wouldn’t be able to return once they answered the summon.
“I guess it’s time for some introductions. My name is Celine. I’m the head priestess of the Temple of Light. I’m curious who our summoned heroes are?” Celine asks, gesturing towards the group. They eye each other before one finally steps forward to introduce himself.
“Hello, I’m Eric Woldnier,” Eric introduces himself. He’s a slightly overweight man, with a square jawline. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. Behind him, one of the others steps forward to introduce themselves, “Hello, I’m Emily Boog.”. She has long black hair and deep green eyes, complementing her beautiful oval face. She’s somewhat in shape compared to Eric, but she lacks any well-toned muscle.
“Hello, I’m Cale Nagte,” Cale steps forward to introduce himself. He has short blonde hair and cold blue eyes. Well-toned muscles line his arms, contradicting his delicate face. “Hello, I’m Mia Vloerer,” the last group member steps forth to introduce themselves. She has medium brown hair and soft blue eyes adorning her vibrant face.

The summoned group completes their introductions. Celine smiles and says, “It’s nice to meet all of you. Each of you received a unique title to help you quickly grow in strength. You can view the title by thinking about your status screen. Please try that now.”. Each of the group member’s eye widens in surprise as they read the notifications in front of them.

On his throne, the King stares impatiently. He loudly clears his throat, drawing the groups attention. “I’m grateful you’ve agreed to our summons, but I have little time or patience for chit chat. We are at war, and you are our secret weapon. You will be trained and sent to fight,” the King announces, his face full of seriousness. The groups’ eyes turn hostile as they observe the King.
“The King is usually a kind and magnanimous ruler, but the plight of his soldiers dying at the border has made him full of worry and stress,” Celine interjects, trying to mediate the situation. “Each of you has read your titles, and you must have realised you’re meant to work together as a team. The King isn’t wrong; each of you must be trained. Unfortunately, that’s the most we can offer. All our troops are fighting on the front lines. You’ll be on your own in your quest to stop the source of the demonic invasion.”
The seriousness of the situation dawns one each of the members, but none of them back down. The Goddess chose each of them for a reason. They all have some motivation for coming here. “General, I expect you to get them into proper fighting shape in one month. Understood?” the King commands. “Yes, sir!” the General responds.
The group turns to look towards each other, eyeing the new teammates that they’ll be relying on from today onwards. A smile adorns Emily’s face, seemingly excited for what’s to come.

Every twenty-six years a rift opens, connecting the Ursei and Shirrah realms. Inside that rift, a magical ore can be found and harvested. This magical ore is capable of granting magic to any species or extraordinary abilities to crafted goods. Both realms fight fiercely over the rare substance, but war is not the only danger. 8 203HUD: Wargame (Sci-Fi GameLit)
★★★★★UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!!!!!! "HUD: Wargame is a sci-fi GameLit worth reading." -TienSwitch ★★★★★Rock-solid FPS GameLit. "Nic - the main character - is an ambitious, hyper-competitive perfectionist, and the story fortunately handles him correctly in that it does not push these traits too far." -Akaso ★★★★★This is a good one! "This is one of those stories where you read the first few paragraphs and can just tell that the author has the chops to tell a story. It's engaging and the rules are well thought out and clearly explained. The action is punchy and exciting. Anyway, read it." -HonourRae In the future, everything is a game. Even war. 18-year-old Nic Sigfried wants the high score. Virtually piloting a real-life robot, he'll face off against his peers with the help of his AI guidance system, RTIFIS. The prize? New worlds across the galaxy that are ripe for human conquest and terraforming. It sounds glamorous on paper, but this job might be more dangerous than he thought... HUD: Wargame is the first of a five-part sci-fi series featuring GameLit elements. HUD: Wargame contains some (simulated) violence and very sparing PG-13 profanity. Updates Monday-Thursday-Saturday.
