《Energy》Energy 23: Dawn

The conversation stopped there, and I was able to turn my attention to the shit-ton of notifications I had been ignoring while Rav periodically shot ‘Arcane Bolts’, as he called them, off into the distance.
[You are under the effect of Leadership Aura. Extra effect resisted!] [Congratulations! You risked the essence of your existence for the good of another! Reward hidden.] [Congratulations! Skill levels gained: Transfuse Energy +2 (7); Energy Manipulation +2 (5)] [+1 Will - You’ve done something you weren’t capable of.] [+1 Perception - You’ve seen something few others have.] [Note: Experience gains are based off risk and difficulty.] [Note: Some Primary Skills only rise under specific circumstances.]
...
Good fucking lord.
While I appreciate that the game’s logic rewards me for ‘selflessness’ even though I totally had an agenda, I had no idea it was so risky. Damnit. So if Rav fucks up a spell, it probably explodes in his face or something. Big deal, it’ll regenerate. But if I fuck up? I apparently risk my ‘essence’. What the fuck would happen then? How close did I come to *not existing*?
I… have never been so motivated to train in my life. I don’t know why my Energy skills don’t have a tooltip like the Tamer skill did… in fact, none of the others do, but maybe eventually it will? The issue there is that I’ll have to keep sticking my neck out toward a blade I can’t see and don’t understand… with my immortal soul as collateral.
I mean, not literally… but maybe literally.
I *really* don’t like not knowing. I wish I could call the Guru. It was such an asshat, but I would deal with the devil just to get some knowledge.
I’ve been put in so many tricky situations with Energy that the related skills have leveled up like mad.

Heroism and Bad Decisions
When superpowers appeared, the only reason civilization did not collapse was a century of comic books and movies making the new reality familiar and even welcome. When threats out of fantasy and science fiction became truth, people with powers rose up to the challenge because it was both a dream come true and the culturally acceptable thing to do. But not all is well in the new world. Monsters, power-related accidents and villains are on the rise. Governments, companies and opportunists are not staying idle. In this slowly darkening New Age, Valley Grant just discovered she has powers. Joining the ranks of heroes is the next step, right? What do you mean she's not qualified? Why won't hero teams let her join and why are superhero costumes more expensive than cars?! And above all else, why do cape fights keep ruining her make-up? Updates 3 times a week.

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.
