《The Great Dungeon》Chapter 29-Stupid Musclehead

Maxin and Uruga landed roughly on the opposite bank, Maxin slipping and falling to his knees. The wind wolves landed lightly around them, their numbers smaller due to the multitude of activated traps, numbering seven of the ten they had brought with them. Maxin still sported a grim expression from watching the death of one of his fireball wolves. Deep down, he truly didn’t care, as a fireball wolf wouldn’t meet the standards to even be cannon fodder in his Lord’s dungeon, yet he was still ticked off as it would have assisted them greatly in this mission. Maxin was pulled out of his thoughts as Uruga and the wind wolves started to riot. Maxin looked up and saw what appeared to be a rain of water droplets. Even with the light mist flowing around him, he could see the clear, fat drops which seemed to rain out of the trees…Feeling the sting of acid droplets, Maxin ducked under the cover of a boulder which stuck up from the banks.
“Maxin!” Uruga snarled in frustration. “I’m going to kill those damned bugs! They’re so irritating!!” Following that, Uruga rushed towards the tree line despite Maxin’s attempt to stop him.
“Idiot! It could be a trap! Wait up!” Maxin growled in frustration as he barked out an order. Following that, the wind wolves took off with light, graceful movements, following the path Uruga had smashed through the trees. The insects which had been firing at them from within the tree line had already scattered under Uruga’s direct assault, yet the werewolf himself had already entered deeper into the forest. Maxin resigned himself to wait for the rest of the wolves, while the remaining fireball wolf wrapped itself around his neck seeking shelter from the misty shower.
“Grrrrr…That idiot’s going to get it when the Lord calls us back…Anyway, how much time do we have left…” Although Maxin was irritated by Uruga’s rash decision, he could also understand Uruga’s frustration at the Dungeon. That river was incredibly irritating to cross; there had been no paths across the bridge, and even Maxin and Uruga in their (C ) ranked forms had to pave their way through with the sacrifices of tens of wolves. He looked at his own quest timer issued by Gehennia, and snorted seeing that he had over half a day left to go.
Hearing splashing and whining behind him, Maxin turned to gaze at the first wolves which had pulled themselves out of the river. They were all dire wolves. A long trail of wolves was scattered at varying levels of the river. It would take a while for all of them to arrive, so Maxin seated himself while staying alert and watching the tree line.

During this time, Dylan was currently combating Uruga and the wind wolves. Dylan had been quite excited watching the small group force itself ahead while leaving behind the irritating fire-blasting machines. However, Dylan quickly realized that this smaller group of wolves were incredibly destructive as well.
BOOM!
A tree about a man’s waist in thickness snapped and crashed to the ground under a flurry of attacks from the red werewolf. The giant centipedes and bombardier beetles which had been hiding in its branches struggled out of the rubble, only to be bitten and torn apart by the wind wolves. The red werewolf licked his knuckles before going to another spot immediately while his wind wolves finished off Dylan’s meager resistance.
Now… Dylan gave a [Dungeon Order] to a Danger Butterfly and several of his monsters. He wanted to use a Danger Butterfly to lure the pack of Wind Wolves using its hypnotizing ability, then slaughter them with a horde of monsters, all while distracting or wounding the werewolf with a larger group. Dylan himself really wanted to finish off the werewolf, yet he didn’t want to expose trump cards if he hadn’t. In addition, there wasn’t a very high chance due to his monsters being a grade lower than the werewolf warrior.
And the fireball wolves… Nooooo… Dylan was upset due to the fact that he couldn’t summon a Fireball Wolf to assist him this time. He had the maximum mana capacity of 375, yet the damned wolf costed 4000 mana to summon. 4000! How many levels would that take? Dylan was too afraid to find out, but it had to take quite a few more, as he saw that his mana capacity had only been increasing by less than 200 with every level up. The difference between (D) rank and (C ) ranked monsters was like the difference between the sky and the ground apparently, at least in terms of cost. Though I have to admit…The C-ranked monsters are definitely a cut above everything I’ve seen thus far…
This was the reason that Dylan was too scared to use all of his trump cards at once; if the werewolf warrior escaped from an all-out assault which utilized all of his monster types, then he would expose all of Dylan’s trump cards to the mage, but this was also the absolute best opportunity to kill the werewolf as well.
Bah, let’s just try and use a lot of things I mean, what can go wrong? Seeing that Dylan’s Danger Butterfly had successfully caught the attention of the Wind Wolves, Dylan called over his strongest monsters to face the werewolf warrior, then mobilized another group to fight the wind wolves. Dylan kept watch over the two separate groups, but also the werewolf mage, who had assembled some of the swimming wolves as of now.

The wind wolves curiously followed the beautiful butterfly they had found, as it was incredibly eye-catching even to them, due to its weird movements and strange colors. The wind wolves had evolved their eyes to be able to see a color-spectrum similarly to a human to better hunt prey, and were exceptionally attracted to the beautiful colors of the butterfly, which they had been following now. Little did they know, their minds had already started to become altered after inhaling large quantities of the butterfly’s powder. Although they were the same rank of monster, they had inhaled too much of the butterfly’s hallucinogenic powder without realizing it. The seven remaining wind wolves followed the butterfly with glassy eyes and an unknown purpose, disappearing into the underbrush.
As they pushed their way into a small clearing surrounded by taller trees, they noticed a strange shape which gave off an enticing scent to them, almost like the scent of juicy flesh. The leading wolf snarled, and together as one, they leapt past the butterfly and charged straight towards the claws of one of Dylan’s stone-clawed spiders.
The spider braced its long, sturdy legs as it took the impact of the seven wolves, its legs carving grooves into the ground. In all honesty, it would not have been able to take the combined pounce of the wind wolves if not for its allies. Midair, the wind wolves had been ambushed from the sides by several whistle wolves, which boasted a ridiculous agility similarly to them when it came to bursts of speed. As the wind wolves shakily reformed into a rudimentary formation, four whistle wolves and the stone-clawed spider approached from the front. Hearing a rustling from behind, the wolves turned to see two rage boars emerging from the undergrowth, their large bodies dwarfing both the whistle and wind wolves. The wind wolves snarled aggressively towards their opponent’s moments before an all-out fight ensued.
Uruga angrily tore another one of those blasted centipedes to shreds before letting out a breath of hot air. A pile of insect chunks lay scattered around him, and his claws and fur were soaked in ichor and bits of flesh.
I must’ve killed a couple dozen of these bugs huh? Why are there so many? Uruga thought to himself as he angrily shook a chunk of insect meat off of his claws. If the dungeon had many more insects, then he might not be able to deal with all of them, and even worse, may fall, which would put even more pressure on Maxin-something that Uruga definitely didn’t want to do. It was quite uncommon for Uruga and Maxin to be put in such dire straits when tasked to destroy a dungeon, giving both of them incredible stress as they tried to comply with their lord’s owner. Who knew that a dungeon with one floor would be significantly harder to deal with than most other dungeons they had faced?
Uruga stopped as he heard rustling from all around him, and his senses warned him of the approaching enemies.
Ho, is this the main party now? Uruga’s mouth etched itself into a smile as a Sickle-Blade Mantis pushed out from the underbrush in front of him. I’ll kill all of you and pave the way for Maxin at the cost of my life hehe… Uruga wasn’t worried about death, as he could return to his Lord’s dungeon after death, yet that would render him useless for the rest of the mission. By killing off as many enemies as possible, Maxin could explore the Dungeon and find the core with less pressure on him. A supportive heart with a dull mind, that was Uruga.
Over 2 dozen of Dylan’s strongest monsters had surrounded Uruga, and he felt the pressure increase by a significant amount looking at the Stone-Clawed spiders. Without a moment of hesitation, Uruga burst into action, swinging his fist at the Stone-Clawed spider. A moment later, the monsters surrounding Uruga reacted as well; Hard-Shelled centipedes lunged at Uruga, Sickle-Blade mantises took off, aiming their scythe like claws at Uruga’s head. Whistle wolves burst out with an extreme speed, producing a whistling sound at the speed of their burst, rage boars charged Uruga from directly ahead, and the dirt surrounding Uruga’s feet sunk and gave way under the magic of the goblin shamans. By the time Uruga’s fist collided with the Stone-Clawed Spider’s claws, his momentum had been depleted by the attacks of the other monsters.
Watching the werewolf fail to kill within a single blow like he had earlier greatly amused Dylan.
Does this werewolf have muscles for a brain as well? Why the hell would you run ahead seriously? Also…All I need to do now is use my monsters correctly. Even with weaker monsters I might be able to end this stupid musclehead!
