《Awakening of a Monster》Chapter 22 - Sparring

Amon, and a very pale Jax, both walked out of Amon's room and out of their living quarters. They headed a bit away from the cabin, mainly to avoid bringing too much attention to their spar but also because they each knew they'd need a lot of space.
Once they'd found said space, they each stood about 15 feet away from one another. Jax raised his hand and with a flash, a simple silver spear appeared in his hand. Mirroring his actions, Amon clenched his fists and got into a stance before the metal ringlets around his wrists started to expand and sounded out noises of metal bending a warping but despite what one would think, the metal was quick in covering Amon's arms in his gauntlets.
Feeling the familiar cold metal wrapped around his arms, Amon felt like something he was missing had been given back to him; he didn't feel bare to the world anymore.
Perplexed by such feelings, Amon quickly shook his head and cleared his mind before concentrating on the battle ahead of him. He knew it was going to be fun.
"So, Jax. Do you wanna make the first move or do I have to?" Amon's voice had undisguised arrogance practically dripping from it but the blond-haired teen didn't take any offense to it. Rather he showed his own arrogant expression before he slipped into his own spear stance.
'Crude...but surprisingly sharp,' Amon felt a tug on his lips which developed into a full-blown crazed grin as he looked at the stance, 'You haven't disappointed me, Jax!' chuckling mentally, Amon saw that Jax was gathering power and before he knew it, his friend had dashed off from his starting point with blistering speed. Within seconds he'd appeared in front of Amon and reared back his spear before sending out a blur of a spear strike.
It was fast. Michael kind of fast. So fast that it didn't even make a sound as it split the air, the air just split silently as if scared of the spearhead.
'But,' Amon grinned, 'Not fast enough~!' with his gauntleted right hand, he lifted it and slapped against the flat of the spearhead, sending it careening off to the side as it barely scratched Amon's steel-like ribs.
As the spear flew past his body, Amon built up momentum in his legs before torquing his waist with a vicious snap, sending his hammer-like fist toward Jax's center of mass, or in layman's terms; his torso.
Wide-eyed, Jax hurriedly brought his spear shaft in between the heavy punch and himself. He did it in time but that didn't mean he was out of danger just yet.
As the fist collided with the shaft, the nullification Jax was expecting to happen never did. Instead, Jax found his arms rattling and his bones creaking as he was sent rocketing backward like a sack of potatoes. Even with his feet tearing up the ground, he couldn't stop himself and when he finally did and looked over at his best friend, he felt the blood drain from his face a little.
"That was a nice thrust...but you left yourself way too open, Jax," Amon lifted an armored finger before wagging it from side to side, "Tut tut tut~" his excited grin was now a full-blown smile, showcasing the sharp knife-like teeth that filled his maw. Looking up at Amon's red eyes, Jax was sure they shone as Amon started to advance toward him.

It was at this point that Jax truly came to the realization that he'd barged in at the wrong time and done something no best friend, no, something no fellow man should do to another man; cockblock them when they were getting some action.
But as he saw Amon walk toward him, he felt significantly less fear than he was earlier. Instead, excitement filled his blue-eyes.
Seeing this excitement, Amon let out a roar of laughter, disregarding the earlier consensus of not attracting any unnecessary sound. At the end of his laughter, Amon crouched and bent over slightly before flexing his thick leg muscles.
*BOOM!*
With dirt flying from behind him, Amon launched himself at Jax with furious speed. He drew on his Magic Power and created a ball of Gravity in front of him and let it drag him along, turning his already Juggernaut-like momentum into something even more terrifying.
While in mid-air, Amon layered his arms, fists, and gauntlets in a layer of his Density magic, making them even more study before falling into the Blood Stance from the Behemoth Martial Art to advance his already unnatural grace and flexibility - he would need these to keep up with Jax's speed.
Jax wasn't idle and with his enhanced reflexes and senses, he had enough time to prepare a thrust to meet Amon's charge. He activated a skill which lit his spear up in flames, turning the simple silver spear red from the heat currently traveling through it. Weirdly enough, however, Jax seemed unaffected by this heat.
Though it may seem like a lot of time has passed for these things to have happened, in fact, less than a second had passed by. To any lesser warriors/fighters, they would have seen nothing but a blur as these two fighters prepared to meet the other.
Soon enough they met with a collision that shattered the ground around them and sent out a shockwave so loud it seemed to spread for hundreds of meters. It was safe to say that it had also woke up the others in the clearing who were sleeping in their cabins. Multiple lights came on and a herd of sleepy but curious students came flooding out of the cabins not too far from the fight.
Currently, the fight had come to a slight stalemate as Amon pushed his arm against the stubborn spearhead. Jax gasped as he felt the titanic strength pushing against him, it took him using a few skills to even stay standing against his beastly friend.
"Going up against me in a contest of strength, huh? Bad move, Jax~!" Amon's cheery but manic voice rang throughout the dust-filled area, dust thrown up in the air from their last collision.
After he finished speaking, his Aura flared in a cloud of black and red which covered him like a storm cloud. Jax felt the already incredible strength increasing and pushing him backward, leaving deep tracts through the dirt he was pushing against. Jax couldn't help but let out a gasp as he disengaged Amon and jumped back using both his superhuman ability and the force of Amon pushing him.
When he landed, he looked over at Amon, the dust surrounding him settling back down and showing him in all his battle-crazed glory. Seeing this, Jax shook his head and let out a small laugh, "I guess you're right; I am physically weaker than you, always have been, probably always will be...but I'll use something you don't got, Amon - A brain!" getting into his own excited state, Jax activated a few more of his skills, causing his body to glow and crackle with lightning.

Sensing danger to his right, Amon quickly raised his arms in a cross-guard only to feel Jax's spear collide against him. Surprised but overall excited that he didn't even see his friend's coming at him, Amon whipped his leg toward his opponent, causing the air to crackle with the promise of violence.
Not to his surprise, however, his kick didn't hit anything and he ducked his head quickly, a spear strike from behind thrusting at where his neck would have been had he not dodged. While he was near to the ground, Amon tried to sweep Jax's legs out from under him but all that gained him was a slap to the foot from the flat of Jax's spear. Feeling aggravated, Amon calmed himself down.
'He's no doubt using a skill and it can't last forever...a war of attrition then?' Amon through this but quickly shook his head, 'No, I can't do that. It feels...weak. Sure it'd be a win but one that would leave a sour taste in my mouth...So, no, I will not wait him out,' thinking even deeper, Amon slammed a fist into the ground filled with his inhuman strength and aided by his Gravity Affinity which increased how much his arm weighed. Together it caused a mini-earthquake in their surrounding area. Only in an area of about 10 meters but it was enough.
That was because Jax was about to make a spear thrust at Amon. So, he became unsettled and unbalanced as the loose earth around him split apart and sizable fissures started to appear. Unluckily for him, one such fissure appeared under one of his feet and with his balance fully destroyed, Amon went on the attack knowing he'd found the way to counter Jax's immense speed.
A flurry of punches assaulted Jax and hit against his chest. Jax made sure to deflect the ones aimed at his face as they would do far too much damage and from the power he was feeling when he deflected them, he knew they had more than enough strength and technique in them to knock him out.
Amon guided Jax around the cracked land, his superior senses allowing him to have a clear and full picture of his surroundings which meant he didn't fall into any of the cracks large enough to house his wide and long feet. Whenever Jax tried to run, Amon would simply stomp his feet into the ground with the aid of his Gravity Affinity and Jax would stumble just long enough for Amon to continue his sadistic combo.
But it seemed Jax was also catching on and his danger sense was improving and allowing him to dodge more and more of Amon's attacks.
'Tsk! He must have a skill and this fight is practically allowing him to grind it...I'm not some kind of Mob you grind on, you bastard!' feeling his anger explode, Amon temporarily increased his strength by circulating his Magic Power through the Gates he'd already opened in his body before throwing a punch much faster and stronger than before.
However, as if he'd known the attack was coming, Jax prepared a spear thrust which seemed different than the others. With the lightning still crackling around him, he drew back his arm holding the shaft of his spear before muttering some words just loud enough for Amon to hear.
"[Spear of the Chosen]..." Jax's voice seemed to set off some kind of reaction as his spear started to glow with a pure gold light that burnt Amon's eyes to look at.
But despite the hurt in his eyes, Amon pressed forth, slipping into the Iron Stance of the Behemoth Martial Art for its ability to bolster his physical strength and durability because as much as his pride hated to admit it...he felt threatened by the move that Jax was about to use. Dangerously so.
Though other than danger it made him feel tremendous excitement. The blood boiling in his veins giving him extra energy and vigor to push his punch's power even further and make it even faster.
Amon's black gauntlets gave off clouds of black mist, while faint red runes glowed across both them and the black horn on his forehead, while Jax's spear gave off a holy glow along with his body crackling with golden lightning.
One with black hair and red eyes, standing taller than any human and letting out a tyrannical and domineering aura which made him seem like a demon among demons, while the other with blond hair and blue eyes, who looked like any other human albeit a very handsome one and was letting out a holy aura like the last bastion of hope for humanity.
This scene was something you read about so many times but it still seems oddly special and unique. This is the battle between the Demon King and the Hero of Humanity. A tale as old as time. But--
"Stop, you idiots!" "STOP!" two booming voices shouted from far away. It was Sasha and Mr. Karl and the two of them were rushing over to stop the fight. They were going to let the fight carry on but they didn't think they'd be at each other's throats like this! Jax was using a super skill of some kind while Amon was putting everything he had into a single punch - they should've predicted this would happen and cursed themselves for being so stupid as to think a hot-blooded hero and a Demon-Dragon Hyrbid would hold themselves back.
Despite the shouting, neither Jax nor Amon let up. In fact, they tried to put even more power into their final attacks, unwilling to be the one who lost the exchange.
Finally, the attacks hit.
And the shockwaves sent everyone within range of the fight, flying backward. The boom was so loud it sounded like thunder or the crack of a God's mighty whip.
It was followed by silence and then two bangs in opposite directions. Sasha looked in one of the directions and Mr. Karl, the other, before rushing in that direction.
Jax and Amon had blown each other away.
