《Awakening of a Monster》Chapter 16 - Preparation and Breakthrough

Amon kept repeating the mantra from the Slayer Arts in his head as he meditated. It didn't take long for him to feel something was happening because of him repeating the mantra constantly.
He felt like his head had been struck by lightning and was now on fire, the pain was quite excruciating but Amon powered through it as he'd experienced worse pain before.
Slowly but surely, the 'fire' started seeping into his head turning into information about something.
Amon didn't catch most of it, only certain words like 'weak point' 'efficiency' 'precision' and 'kill'. This confused Amon quite a lot as the information stopped flowing into his head and this made Amon worry a little bit.
What if he'd messed up and couldn't practice the Art now? Amon didn't want all his hard work to go down the drain.
Amon felt something was wrong, so he pulled out the Slayer Arts and opened the first page only to be surprised with what he saw. The mantra was now gone and in its place were some pictures which looked like medical diagrams.
Amon squinted his eyes at the book and read through the text on the first page.
As he started reading a smile grew across his face, with each paragraph he read added more and more to the smiles savage look. Amon had heard a saying once that the best doctor in the world could also be the best killer and this book proved it right.
All the medical diagrams were centered around the weak points of the body, how to strike them and how much power was needed to cause maximum damage. Amon thought about the possibilities this book could do for his combat, how much more efficient it could make him. Unlike the Behemoth Martial Art, this Martial Art was purely mental, there was no form or stance but in fact, relied purely on mental discipline.
If you had to hit a certain place it didn't matter if you had a strong body, if your mental control over your body was weak you'd never be able to hit that certain place.
What the Slayer Arts would give Amon was something to help him control himself during battle. The book pretty much ran off of the principle that the body is nothing but a plaything of the mind.
But Amon knew he wouldn't be able to achieve the highest level of what the book said if he didn't practice the mental mantras in the book constantly while attempting to control everything in his body. So he got to work.

Amon crossed his legs and put his hands on the floor like he was about to do a handstand. Then he lifted himself up into a handstand and kept himself there as he went through the mantras.
Amon felt he could try something as he grasped control of his surrounding gravity. It felt like trying to grab an oil-covered snake but in the end, he grabbed it and started affecting it, changing it.
By the time he was finished, he'd changed the gravity in a 3m diameter around him so it was about 3 times stronger than usual. It helped him work up a sweat to temper his mental discipline.
As he was doing this, he thought about how he hadn't had a breakthrough in his Demonic Cultivation in a while. He'd linked up his first 3 gates and he was getting closer and closer to breaking the 4th one. Amon went over what the information in his head said about the 4th gate.
It was called the Gate of Blood and it would completely reform the hearts and cardiovascular system into something that's miles ahead of what it was before. Also having a secondary effect of giving the user incredible self-healing capabilities and incredible endurance.
Amon figured that he should attempt a breakthrough soon before the joint training program begins, he needs to be overwhelmingly powerful to keep the Classers in check and also because he wanted to show his mom she didn't have to worry about him; he was strong enough to look after himself.
A few hours passed, with Amon not moving from his cross-legged handstand and in fact moving onto only using one of his hands to balance himself and occasionally switching to his other hand to make sure they were both used thoroughly.
Amon stopped the training and returned gravity back to normal. He wiped the sweat off his body with a nearby towel, while sighing relief after the strain of keeping his gravity magic going was finally released.
Feeling hungry, Amon walked back to the house.
On his way back he ran into Michael who looked incredibly ragged which caused Amon to laugh; the usually Mr.Perfect now looked like a homeless guy.
Michael grimaced when he saw Amon because he knew this was the reaction he'd get. After Amon stopped laughing, they both carried on back to their home and Michael explained to him why he looked so haggard.
"So, you're telling me that you lost control of your Velocity Magic and flung yourself through a few walls?..." Amon looked at Michael like he was an idiot before he started laughing again, only adding to Michael's already grim face.

They both soon got home and Michael ran to his room at his fastest speed to avoid ruining his image in front of Julia who usually sat in the living room.
Amon shrugged at Michael's misfortune; this rival of his was quite a clumsy guy when you got to know him.
Amon took off his shirt which was soaked in sweat and threw it into the laundry basket (Washing basket if you're British) in the hall before walking towards the kitchen to get himself some food.
Walking through the living room, he suffered the interested glances of Julia, the lust-filled glances of Lilith and Fae wolf whistling at his naked upper body.
Part of him took pride in the glances but the majority of him felt a bit embarrassed. Not that he showed any of that, he just ignored them and went towards the fridge in the kitchen.
Opening the fridge, Amon grabbed the leftovers of a massive turkey Julia had done for them the other day along with a bit of fruit and walked over to the table where he ravenously devoured all of it.
It didn't take long for Amon to finish all the food and let out a satisfied burb as a result.
Amon sat there thinking about how he should go about his next breakthrough. It was quite a risky area, plus he had to open two gates each one in each of his hearts.
Amon decided to go and give it a go, so he walked up to his room. He got there in no time and sat down on his massive bed and started cultivating. The usual tyrannical and imperious aura appeared like usual and the energy around him poured itself into his nose and mouth.
After he broke through the last gate and all three of them joined up, he found that he could pull in and store much more energy in his body and he guessed the reason for that was because he needed enough energy to break two gates for the sake of opening up the full Gate of Blood.
It didn't take long for Amon to gather two large balls of energy around his hearts.
He started slowly grinding the energy into his hearts towards the little black ball floating inside of them. It was going slowly, like a river that slowly erodes a massive boulder but unlike that river, Amon's energy was being controlled by him. So he used it intelligently.
He used his energy in a certain way to send cracks throughout both of the pearls, something telling him that he should breakthrough both of them at the same time for the most improvements.
When the cracks had spread fully throughout the Gates, Amon started using his energy like a hammer and started crushing the Gates furthering the size of the cracks in it.
But this wasn't without repercussions, trickles of blood spurted out of Amon's chest and his mouth, like two independent waterfalls.
The pain was mind-numbing, the kind of pain that made you lose control of your body. But Amon persevered and grit his teeth, continuing his assault on the Gates.
He didn't care about the injuries because he knew his incredibly strong body's vitality would be able to heal them fully after he broke through.
The breakthrough was incredibly tiring, both mentally and physically, for Amon. But slowly, the Gates were crumbling and this discovery was pushing Amon onward. He refused to give up against two puny Gates.
From somewhere deep within, an anger and pride spurted out onto the surface. Amon just couldn't believe two mere Gates were standing in his way and were stopping his advancement. His anger seemed to add a tenacious attribute to his Energy and let it do more attacks on the Gates.
'Break. Just break!'
Amon's veins were bulging on his skin, looking like mini-snakes moving about angrily under his skin.
His energy completely ravaged the Gates, causing injuries to both the Gates and his Hearts making him cough up mouthful after mouthful of blood. Luckily his vitality was already quite robust otherwise he'd probably have died from the injuries to his hearts.
Before long, Amon's tyrannical energy broke the Gates open completely causing wave after wave of physical energy to temper his Hearts, Blood and Internal Organs.
Amon couldn't feel satisfied with his breakthrough however because he passed out as soon as he broke through. Amon only felt a painful headache before everything went black.
