《Awakening of a Monster》Chapter 11 - Bloodlines

Amon started messing around with his other affinities and found they were just as easy to use as his blood affinity. His Gravity Magic just increased the gravitational pull around his hand, attracting some small items from the coffee table to his hand, like a sort of telekinesis.
Amon looked at his hand and the assortment of spoons and coasters on his hand with a face full of mirth; he thought this was a funny power to play about with. Amon flipped whatever he was doing around and sent the spoons and coasters flying away from his hand, repelling them onto the table.
His Gravity Magic seemed to take a lot of thought to use and he wasn't exactly sure on how to use it adeptly just yet.
Next was his Density Magic, he focused this on his whole body. It seemed to magically make him denser without decreasing his size or increasing it either.
Amon stood up feeling the increased power in his body. It felt like he was made of living metal at the minute because of the magic, his power had increased but his defense was the thing that had been increased the most.
Amon canceled the magic as soon as he'd finished his analysis of what it did. The Magic seemed to hurt his body the longer he used, he needed his base body to be stronger for him to have more and more increased time in the Denser form.
Amon looked at the others who were using their magic just as easily as him, and Sasha who's mouth was agape in shock before it turned into a prideful smile because she probably realized that these 5 kids were her students.
"Sasha, can I talk to you for a bit? I've pretty much got my magic under control." As he said this he waved his hand into the air, summoning both his Unholy element and Blood element. His Unholy element looked like a dense black fog full of malice and evil and along with the Blood element rotating around it, it seemed even more demonic than on its own.
Sasha looked at Amon's control over magic and nodded and walked over to the kitchen where she could talk to Amon privately.

When they entered the kitchen, Amon sat on one of the kitchen chairs and Sasha did the same before she looked at Amon "What did you want to talk to me about then?"
"I want to know what both my bloodlines are, in full, no details withheld." Amon's gaze was incredibly serious and his face was very solemn as he faced Sasha.
Sasha seemed to have been expecting his question, so she took a deep breath of fresh air before answering his question "Well, let's start with your Demon side. As you might have found out, it's a Demon Lord's bloodline, but there are many kinds of Demon Lords that have Bloodlines and yours, well, yours is quite ancient."
Amon guessed as much and he hurried Sasha on. Sasha seemed to hesitate before she carried on "Your Demon Bloodline comes from Abaddon, the Fallen Angel of Destruction, Death and The Abyss. An incredibly archaic bloodline for the Demons."
Amon didn't understand "Angel? Even if it's a Fallen Angel it isn't a Demon, right?" Sasha looked at Amon like he was an idiot "No, the first Demons were Fallen Angels, they were the royalty of the Demon World. The Demons after them were Humans they'd twisted and broken into becoming Demons. You have a Royal Bloodline, rejoice, your majesty." Sasha said that part in a jokey way, slightly bowing.
Amon had an expression of realization on his face; no wonder he had such monumental arrogance and bloodlust, it was because he was a Royal Demon Lord.
Seeing his expression of realization, Sasha knew that Amon had understood what she had said and that he'd pieced it all together in his head.
She gave Amon a minute before carrying on about his other bloodline. "You really were gifted with two incredibly powerful bloodlines, Amon. Your Dragon Bloodline is from a Primordial Abyss Dragon." Sasha seemed to be reminiscing about something she'd seen "Dragons so big, they outgrew their homes in the ocean, on land and in the sky and had to live under the Earth and massive cave systems they made for themselves."
Amon was shocked by what he'd heard, the Dragons must have had to be absolutely massive to outgrow their homes in the sea, on land, and in the sky. Sasha carried on, despite Amon's expression of wonder.

"Like I said yesterday, they grew so big Magic alone couldn't sustain them so they found a way to produce blood through Draconic Magic and became the first and only Dragons to have blood and because their blood was made through magic, it became one of their affinities. As you might expect from their massive size, their strength was unmatched but it came with a con; they had to eat a lot of things. But that's a story for another day unless you start to feel astoundingly ravenous, then you come to me instantly, got it?" Sasha's face looked serious to the extreme at the minute, unlike her usual goofy attitude, so Amon knew that this was very serious and nodded his head.
Knowing his Bloodlines, Amon couldn't help but feel his pride burst forth in his chest. A Royal Demon Lord and a Primordial Dragon, what a matchup for a powerful hybrid.
But Amon understood that the others probably had powerful combinations as well, so he didn't let himself get ahead of himself. He also thought about the disdain shown to Bloodline Warriors from the Class and Ability Users, so there should be something incredibly powerful about them as well.
'But regardless of their power, I'll still win, I'll still crush them, it doesn't matter.'
Amon's competitiveness started stirring again. He resolved himself to show Class and Ability Users that he was just as good, if not better, than them.
"Thanks for the information Sasha, I appreciate it." Amon smiled as he walked out of the kitchen. Amon was starting to see Sasha and the others of the SS class as his comrades in arms when against the Class and Ability Users. But apart from that, they were his rivals and he had to show them some kind of respect.
Amon wondered if Jax was gonna be just as competitive as him.
As they both re-entered the living room, everyone was messing about with their elements a bit more. Michael was running and stopping instantly, or running at his max speed and then making impossible turns, showing his control over his Velocity and Inertia Affinities.
Julia was messing about with balls of fire and ice, rotating them around her. Fae was doing the same but with Water and Earth balls.
Lilith had snakes of black mist slithering around the vicinity of her body, along with lightning snakes doing the same thing. All 4 of them were showing superb levels of control of their element and Sasha seemed to think they were ready for the next thing.
"Which ones of you are focusing on physical combat and which ones want to be mages?" Sasha asked while pointing at one sofa marking it as the physical side and the other at another sofa marking it as mage.
Amon, Fae, and Michael went to the warrior side and Lilith and Julia went over to the Mage side. "Okay, good. Follow me." Sasha walked to the door to exit the house.
Amon and the others hurriedly walked after her, Julia asked Sasha on the way "Where are we going and what are we gonna do there?" Julia was confused, shouldn't they have focused on magic for a bit longer?
"Well, for the Warriors we're getting them their weapons and then we'll let them pick some martial arts they want. For you Mages, we'll get you your Mage Gloves and then let you pick out some books on your elements/affinities for you to research and create attacks of your own with the notes in the books as the foundation." Sasha said matter-of-factly as she carried on walking.
Amon's eyes lit up at the mention of weapons and martial arts, he was suddenly very excitable about where they were going and got incredibly energetic. Michael was the same, while Lilith, Fae, and Julia just looked at the two of them like they were little kids who were going to get some candy.
Before long they got to the building they were first visiting, the Storage Room.

Of Righteous Evil
To wield the magical Arts. The power to manipulate nature itself. Follow Silas on his journey as he learns what it means to be a Mage. With war brewing on the horizon, Silas' plan to become a hero clashes with the harsh reality of conflict. Torn between contradicting emotions, he will have to reconsider his perceptions of both good and evil. Does the end truly never justify the means? Note from author (13.09.20): Sentences have been shortened, less commata used. Paragraphs have been split up. Meant to be "realistic" fantasy, with no overpowered protagonist or evil sorcerer trying to destroy the world. The focus lies on the characters, their progressions and their inner conflicts, coupled with an intricate magic system. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated! HIATUS Updates: 12.12.20 Chapter 1 & 2 are written together. The backstory of the parents will be integrated into one of the later chapters. 20.12.20 Prologue has been rewritten, fight added. The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
