In the beginning there was nothing, but nothing was boring. Nothing was balance. Balance wasn’t interesting. So the first realm was created. The universe shuddered in joy as it explored itself. It created avatars, Gods, to watch over its new Realm, the Realm of Ruin.

But the Gods of Ruin weren’t kind. They were brutal and fought amongst one another. They became villains and attacked at the fringes of their Realm, threatening to destroy the Universe.

So the Universe decided to create a Lord among the Gods, and so Belial was born.

Belial forced the other Gods into submission, and imposed his Order onto the land.

But this caused another problem. The Plane of Ruin wasn’t balanced. The Universe became lopsided and threatened to end.

Thus, the Universe created six more Planes, one for each branch of magic, in order to bring balance to existence.

And to accompany those Planes, the Universe created six more Lords of Order. These Demons ruled their Planes, unaware of the Universe at large. The Lords only knew of the other Planes and the other Lords, but they did not interact.

For thousands of years these seven Planes of Existence ruled the Aether, but still the Universe tilted. Something was out of balance.

It was then that the Universe discovered an Eighth Element, the last and hidden branch of magic: Chaos.

For Order cannot exist without Chaos.

Thus a new Plane was created, the Mortal Plane, and Chaos was allowed to rule it.

Thousands of years passed, but still the Planes weren’t balanced.

The Universe was at a loss. The Universe didn’t understand.

In a last ditch effort to comprehend, the Universe reached out and discovered it wasn’t alone. It was only one among many.

There was a multiverse.

The Universe was still young and it asked its brethren for help. One offered a solution.

To balance the Lords of Order, the Universe needed to create a Lord of Chaos. One to balance the Seven.

And so the Universe accepted this solution, and took a soul from outside, from another Universe.

This soul was exceedingly powerful, charged with the elements of Chaos from a higher ordered Universe.

But, unlike the other Lords, this Lord couldn’t simply be remodeled into its purpose. It was a completed soul already. It could only be remodeled through experience. This Lord needed to learn.

Thus, a ‘Tutorial’ was born.
