Tim’s question was valid, as they had never used a slave collar on a goblin that was mutated, so it was new territory.

The Doctor chuckled and made a disdainful smile as if he had heard the greatest joke in the world. “Tim, my dear apprentice, although it is mutated, a mutated goblin is still a lowly goblin in the end. This one is white on the outside, but it is still green on the inside.”

Rae had grown furious hearing the Doctor mock him like that. It was as If the Doctor thought he was trash, albeit a rare piece of trash.

And something inside him couldn’t stand the humiliation like it was roaring to get out. Which was strange because after he had stayed with Mary and Helen for a while, he never really cared about what other people thought about him before, and he was never prideful either, but it had been a very long time since he was treated like this. Although he knew it was because he was a goblin, it still made him angry.

‘Breathe in… breathe out…’ Rae did a breathing exercise he practiced when he had anxiety before, as it worked just as well for anger.

The Doctor and Tim thought he was wheezing and ignored him, as baby goblins were quite resilient physically.

“Yes, Doctor." Tim put Rae into the basket with the other baby goblins and Rae had a chance to look around.

There were dirt and mud covering the entire floor, and the building looked to be a barn house. The wood was dilapidated and some spots cracked so badly, cold air could get inside. And lined up against the walls were what resembled pig pens. In each of them was a female goblin. Now that he had a clear look at them, they resembled the vicious creatures had seen from back on Earth. All they were wearing were just rags tied around their breasts and women’s area. Most of them were pregnant and the ones who weren’t, but all of them had blank looks in their eyes as if were empty vessels.

Rae realized what was going on.

It was actually quite smart, really. With the goblins fertility and growth rate, they would make an extremely replenish able workforce either through labor, or war. The collars also seemed to be imbued with magic that helped keep them in check. Enslavement, essentially.

And this place he was born in, was just part of an auction house to both birth and rear them for them to sell to the highest bidder.

Rae honestly did not know what to feel. If he had been human, he probably would have agreed and applauded the idea, but he was born among them and also currently being treated like them.

He wondered how the goblins even ended up in such a situation in the first place.

'What are you thinking about, Rae? You still have to get back to Mary and Helen,' he thought and refocused his attention.

Rae had almost laughed at himself for worrying about goblins - the fantasy creatures notorious for being cruel and vicious.

After Tim left the barn house, they went into another barn house that resembled the first one and had more 'goblin' pens, but this time they have just boxed off fences with a trough in the middle. There were pens lined up in three columns with enough space in between them to walk through.

Tim then went to an empty pen and had practically dumped me and the other baby goblins in there. Then he called someone over and that person dumped a bunch of pellets into the trough and left, leaving just him and the babies.

Rae was glad to finally be alone. He could finally test some ideas he had.

He used the breathing technique he was familiar with to help him focus.

After a few moments of repetition, he activated both 「Magic Perception」and 「Perceptive Eyes」,

And what Rae experienced was incredible. He could feel and see the Mana in the atmosphere all around him. The beautiful blue particles emitting power and just waiting for beings to consume them. It was a euphoric feeling being able to utilize the nature of the world to perform abnormal feats of power no normal human could ever possibly achieve.

Rae had felt the worse pain he had ever felt. Even worse than when he was abused. It felt as if needles were stabbing at every skin cell he had in his body and then they would go deeper over time.

When Rae was birthed into the world, he had noticed all his senses get better, especially his eyes, so he wanted to see the effect it would have if he activated both 「Magic Perception」and 「Perceptive Eyes」and it would seem like the sensory overload was too much for him.

'Maybe I can only activate one at a time.’ Rae thought.

Moments later, there was a loud cry that rose over all the other babies in the barn house.

'Okay, I cannot activate either of them, but why does it hurt when I activate 「Magic Perception 」? It makes sense for 「Perceptive Eyes」 as I've noticed that my eyesight has become crystal clear and I'm able to see farther and pay attention to little details thanks to「Enhanced Six Senses」already, but why「Mana Perception」?' Rae contemplated.

Then he figured it out, 'Of course! It's called 「Enhanced Six Senses」so the sixth sense must be being able to sense Mana!'

Rae was happy he could identify the problem, though he didn’t know what he could do to solve the issue of sensory overload. Maybe increase his intelligence? He decided to appraise Intelligence.

It didn't exactly answer his question, but he had nothing else to go on.

He then tried to recapture that beautiful moment, and after a few moments, he was able to feel the Mana around him, but not see it.

'It's a bit disappointing the feeling isn't as powerful as well as before, and I can't see those beautiful blue particles, but that's only for the moment. Now, on to the next step, 「Appraise」「Darkness Magic」and「Blood Manipulation」!'

Rae was giddy at the thought that he could create magic. What person wouldn't be happy about being able to control and utilize nature itself? Anyone! And Rae, despite his current circumstances, was no different!
