There is a moment before every big choice.

It can be a second, or even a fraction of a second.

That tiny amount of time, where, one usually asks themselves…

Is it worth it?

Will I gain?

What will I lose?

How can I minimize loss?

How can I increase gain?

Eventually I decided, I didn’t really need to save the entire planet.

Just, most of the people on it.

Except the elves.

To that end I had to spend power.

Thankfully, I had recently had a very delicious, and very filling meal.

Reaching out with my power I focused on the rings spread by the Cult of Wood.

I spread my power out, further and further, spinning it like a spider spins silk until the entire planet was covered in the web.

Taking a deep breath of Chaos, I pulled everyone I could reach into all my remaining leaves.

Half-elves, beastkin, naga, humans, dwarves, the list reads like something from a fairytale bestiary.

Thirty-three percent of my total power, vaporized in a single move.

I felt a small burn, like the first time I started on the path of Flame.

S’ok.

I got this.

I’m not a wimpy Tree.

Next, I spread my power out again. Without any living creatures to stop me, the clash of energies didn’t exist.

Time’s Shadow spread across the dying planet’s shell.

Reaching out I teleported everyone into the space above the planet. I kept us inside a decent sized bubble of livable ‘space’ to prevent mishaps. The same shielding that kept the air in, and recycling, also prevented heat, cold, or nasty radiation stuff.

Slowly, ever so slowly, the planet’s shell started to melt.

That’s right.

I’m not a planet saving tree.

However, I always wanted to forge something bigger than rings…
