Sir Williams watched in the faint moonlight as hideous forms slunk out to surround his group. Bloodwolves unlike normal wolves, greatly desired to increase the fear of prey. Stories surrounding the torture of teeth and claw before a suffering victim was granted death, were numerous. The massive form of the Alpha though, was what gave the most despair. Each of the Alpha were smarter, faster, and more deadly than normal Bloodwolves. The difference between a Pack with an Alpha, and one without was obvious to anyone.
“Mark, break out the Runes.” Sir Williams said in a low tone. His hope that whatever had been following would intervene was lowering with every passing second.
Small noises rang out in the muffled night as the Rune talismans were distributed among the group.
Without warning, a signal seemed to pass among the Bloodwolves. Without warning, they rushed the group in the trees in a half-moon formation.
Sir Williams readied his blade pulling deep from the Aura within him. Faint silver light mirrored the blade, soaking in moonlight to cause a blurry sheen on the weapon.
The first wolf to reach him was decapitated with a single blow. Every wolf that fell was replaced with another, the war of attrition bleeding strength and Aura from them all.
“Runes out! Activate!” Sir Williams screamed, as he slaughtered his third wolf.
Light burst from the five members of the group, outlining their forms in wavering red light.
Something is wrong! These aren’t the Runes we normally use! Sir Williams thought, as rage overwhelmed him.
Five red forms rushed among the Bloodwolves, blades swinging as their eyes filled with madness.

Growling the Alpha stared confused at the human warriors, Runic talismans were nothing new to him. However, none of the groups they had ever ambushed before used these type. They seemed to grant an incredible boost to the human fighters, enough to even the disadvantage of numbers.

Unable to allow his Pack to take further losses, the Alpha attacked the strongest of the humans. Hardening his fur against the blade he managed to avoid damage while his fangs ripped the non-weapon arm from his opponent.
Moving back he waited for his opponent to tire, yet it was in vain.
Seeming to not understand the crippling blow he received, the human attacked in a lightning fast thrust straight to the Alpha’s right eye. The sword buried itself up to the hilt in his brain.
As darkness closed in all around the confused Alpha couldn’t understand how the human was still able to fight.
This wasn’t how things should go.
Creatures missing a limb died, didn’t they?

Well, I mean. Ouch.
I used Organic Organize my new favorite Chaos spell to quickly dismantle all the corpses around including the two human males. From a group of five they were now three. The single remaining man was missing his left arm which I treated to prevent him from bleeding out. As payment, I devoured all the corpses.
I must say, ‘Bloodwolf’ tastes a lot like deep fried caribou from back home. A slightly spicy taste mixed with the savory deliciousness.
The women watched me eat with widened eyes.
Honestly, it was slightly offputting, however the hunger won out.
If they made any weird moves I would use Organic Organize on them. It was a fantastic spell that would separate flesh, bones, and organs from a target or group placing them neatly apart.
The incredible uses to experimentation could not be overstated.
Rustle.
Well, it’s true I wouldn’t have ever thought of the spell myself without effort…
Organic Organize was actually a result of random chance.
That’s right, the brilliant Tree can sometimes get lucky.
I used a self-designed spell Chaotic Casino which gives me a once a day weekly draw.

Previous prizes had included a leaf, a rock, a burning bush, and a small lizard.
I’d actually set Chaotic Casino aside as a useless piece of garbage until I struck paydirt just before the fight went down.
Now if only I could somehow rig the odds on this magic lottery, I could be swimming in useful Chaos spells!
Rustle.
What do you mean attempting to rig something like a divine lottery is a bad idea?
It sounds like pure genius to me!
I can already imagine all the incredible spells raining down like the rain currently falling on us now!
Ah…
I suppose I should help these folks back to the city, it would be kind of pointless to let them die now…
Besides…
I’ve chosen my new ‘owner’, yes indeed.
The female survivor with green eyes and raven black hair reminds me a lot of Tevril in one of her favorite illusions.
Rustle!
What do you mean picking companions based just on looks instead of intelligence is a bad idea?
She’s female isn’t she?
Aren’t all females inherently intelligent?
Rustle…
Hah! Got you!
