-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“CHRYSTALLLLLLL!”
At the sudden cry, everyone turns their attention toward the source. There was Azrael desperately pushing through the crowd. Even though all the gazes were locked on him, he didn’t notice as all his attention was on the girl in front of him.
“Chrystal… to actually be able to see you again…. I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…”
To the shock of everyone there, Azrael hugs the girl. The female, dumbfounded by the sudden action, stiffens up in shock.
“Yo…You bastard!! Just what do you think you are doing to the princess!!”
Finally snapping back to reality, one of the boys beside the girl becomes angry and was about to pull Azrael off when he froze. Azrael’s gaze toward him was so cold and murderous that it made him stop where he was in dread. His senses were screaming at him that this boy could easily dispatch of him at a whims notice.
“…U…Um…. Could you please let go of me?”
Hearing the clear bell like voice, Azrael finally comes to. Finally noticing the situation, he immediately releases her and steps backwards with a red face.
‘Shit… I lost control of myself there for a second….Ahhh… everyone’s looking at us…this is so embarrassing…. Get yourself together Azrael! You’re not some child to let your emotions control you!’
While Azrael was inwardly berating himself the girl, with a flushed face recovers and with a cough before speaking.
“*cough* Well… I don’t know who this Chrystal girl that you speak of is but you got the wrong person…”
“….Sorry about that…”
“No no, there’s no need to apologize. This Chrystal person seems like someone who is very precious to you… Well then, I believe we should go inside. If we just stay here we will be late for the ceremony. By the way, my name’s Han Byul”
Even though she had just been through such a ridiculous scene, Han Byul just brushed it off as if nothing happened and smiled at Azrael. It wouldn’t have been strange for her to call him a pervert and report him to the guards immediately but she instead played it off with a smiles.
‘It seems like her personality is still kind as ever. Also that smile…how I longed to see it just once more…’
To Azrael, the smile that she had on her face right now was even brighter than a full moon during a dark night. In his mind, the girl’s face and Chrystal’s started to intersect. Shaking his head to clear his mind, he smiles back.

“Han Byul, once again I deeply apologize for my actions. In return, if you ever need assistance, feel free to call for me, Azrael”
With that, Azrael slightly bows to her. Han Byul tips her head slightly and the goes forward to the arena. The guy from earlier who had attempted to stop Azrael earlier stayed by her side, making sure that no threats were nearby. While walking through the tunnel, he finally couldn’t hold it anymore and brought up the incident earlier.
“Princess Han Byul, are you sure that you’re fine?”
“Of course Rizqen, why wouldn’t I be?”
“No… it’s just that incident earlier…”
“Ah… well the person himself apologized, didn’t he? It didn’t seem like he had any ulterior motives, just mistook me for someone else. It can happen”
“….If you say so princess I won’t take this further but if that bastard tries to do something like that one more time….”
Rizqen unwilling dropped the conversation. Seeing him like that, Han Byul could only apologetically smile towards him. Now that they were quiet, she also recalled the event.
Even though it was the first time that they had ever met, the moment that she had seen Azrael, her heart began to rapidly beat, as if it was attempting to come out of her chest. It wasn’t some petty thing like first love or something…but that feeling of longing at seeing him, wanting to be by his side… Han Byul promised herself to look more into this later.
‘Aah, what a fool I am… Winston must think I’m some kind of weirdo now…..’
Azrael, on the other hand, was walking back toward Winston. All around him, people were staring and pointing at him. Embarrassed at himself, he lowers his head and keeps going forward. As he was worried about his roommate’s opinion, Winston came into view. Contrary to his beliefs though, Winston was looking at him with a big grin on his face. Rushing over to where Azrael was, he quickly puts him into a headlock.
“Damn it, you took the first move toward Princess Han Byul you lucky bastard!”
“Eh?? She’s a princess?!”
Hearing that she was a princess, Azrael’s facial expression turned to one of surprise. Seeing this, Winston’s face showed shock.
“You can’t be serious, right?! That girl just now was the princess of the Rhostaz Kingdom, the number one beauty Han Byul!!”
‘So she’s a princess in this world, huh? I’m really glad for her. She’s finally getting the treatment she deserves…’
While musing over this, the two finally arrive at the open area of the facility. At the opposite side of the entrance, a podium had been built and one female could be seen seated.
The mature lady had long black hair flowing down her back, seemingly reflecting sunlight as it moved. With her azure robe and large circular glass frames that showed her hazel eyes, she brimmed with a look of intelligence. Beside her chair was a staff that was made out of two separate types of wood that had been shaped into dragons intertwining from their tails to the top, where their mouths were biting a crystal that radiated a green aura. The lady looked to be in her mid-thirties.

From her seat, the lady watched as the freshmen fell in. After making sure that everyone was here, she stands up and goes to the front to begin.
“Welcome to the prestigious Sinara Academy, freshmen. I am the headmistress of this school,Allania Razdq. You hundred students have been chosen as the best of the best through the continent and been invited to attend this school, but don’t let this fool you! Even though you might have been considered a genius where you are from, this school is only attended by people who are a genius in their own right!
Every year, only fifty people are allowed to graduate. The people who had not been choose are eligible to attempt to improve their ranking for another three years. If the students cannot graduate during this time period, they will be dismissed. From this, you should be able to understand that it is now very difficult it is to advance forward”
After that, Allania stops for a moment to take a quick break and look at the students.
“Always remember this: True strength only comes to those who pay an equal amount! You will only grow as strong as you work. The teachers here can only help you so much. Staring from tomorrow when the semester begins, everything lies on your shoulders!
I look forward to seeing how strong everyone all of you become. You are the future for Sinara Academy. Be it the yearly school tournaments or after you graduate, you will be representing not only yourself but the whole academy!”
With that, the headmistress completes her speech to the roaring applause of the freshmen that had gathered. After the speech, all the freshmen were led to receive to the Administration Building to receive their uniforms and classes.
After waiting in line for his turn on the second floor of the building, Azrael was finally able to go to the desk and receive a parchment that showed the classes he will be in. Looking at it, Azrael silently nodded his head in approval. On the parchment, his classes were listed as thus:
Intermediate Fire Magic – Monday 10 A.M.
History of Xiosu – Monday 3 P.M.
Intermediate Water Magic – Tuesday 10 A.M.
Beginner Study of Magical Beasts – Wednesday 3 P.M.
Intermediate Darkness Magic – Thursday 8 P.M.
The classes were the exact same ones that he and his father had agreed upon with the Sinara Academy representative at Byranze. Since he had already learned and mastered the basic spells for his three elements from his elementals, there was no reason for him to attend the Beginners course.
After also receiving the books he needed for his classes, Azrael went down to the first floor and got his school uniform fitted to him by the tailor the academy had acquired. After changing into the uniform, he went outside and saw Winston waiting for him. He was already in his uniform and waving at him.
The uniform suited Winston quite well. The red jacket and tie, along with the black pants and shirt suited his complexion very well. The uniform fitted a little tightly and showed off his well-toned body. Seeing his roommate waiting for him, Arael rushed quickly over and the two of them went to it at the cafeteria near the dormitories.
The cafeteria was a large glass building that could easily fit over five hundred people at one time. Tables for groups of four were laid out all throughout for the students to choose where they wanted to eat. The building gave off a feeling of a rich household with it large spacing and expensive furniture.
Azrael and Winston, while not paying any attention to the set up, quickly got their meals which they paid for with their identification card and ate. While they ate, Azrael told Winston more about his dad’s swordsmanship and his tutelage under him. After finishing the meal they stood up and went toward their room to get some sleep before their classes tomorrow.
“Alright man, see you tomorrow Az”
“Night Winst”
During dinner Winston had kept insisting making nicknames for themselves as it would be too much of a hassle to say their full names. Even though Azrael had been hesitant about it at first, in the end he relented and agreed. Even though they just met today, Azrael did have a good impression of Winston and felt like they could get along well.
With Winston’s soft snoring in the background, Azrael stayed awake on his bed, he begun to think of what had occurred earlier in the day.
‘Chrystal, for us to be born in the same year and to be so close must be the work of the heavens. Even though it seems like she doesn’t retain any memories of her past, it was fine. All I have to do is make her fall in love with me again. I also have all the time in the world. Well starting tomorrow I have to work hard so that this time, I can protect both my parents and you Chrystal!'
Making that resolution in his head, Azrael slowly closed his eyelids and eagerly awaits the next day.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

The Shattered Universe Saga - Deus Vult Alpha from Omega
This is book one. Rick West, a wounded Marine with a very unique past is transported, with a significant portion of Earth's population, to a new universe. One that is shattered and yet to coalesce under a divine law. This is the story of a military man who begins the saga immature, rough, careless of other’s feelings. A young man whose focus is on getting laid, fighting, and winning at every turn, regardless of cost. He gets caught up in a strange occurrence, along with a billion others, and finds himself in an oddly familiar place where life is lived as a timed-event role-playing game. He discovers that within the shattered universe he is a Mystic Player, a Marshal, a figure of power, potential, and probability. If he wins, he may even able to wrestle unto himself the very throne of heaven. Rick starts to build his Pantheon with his most trusted companions, friends, family, and a harem of strong and talented women. He faces challenges within himself and others, and also must lead his faction into battle with men and monsters. As Rick and his companions progress through the adventure games within the pocket universe, he develops a greater understanding of his humanity and the qualities of what makes each of us uniquely valuable. He grows mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, without really noticing how he is leaving his old existence behind. Striving against him for truly ultimate power are a thousand others with the same potential, the same possibilities. All are aligned on the spectrum from the brightest of minds, the lightest of hearts, to the darkest of souls. All Mystic Players, be they Monster or Marshal, share one characteristic. They thrive in chaos. And a shattered universe is a universe in chaos. At the end of the Saga, will the winner be someone worthy of emulation and even, if it were appropriate, of worship as an exemplar of divinity. Will the title granted to the Final Victor be EXEMPLAR, or will the title be DESPOILER? That is the question.

Chimera
Eleanor meant the world to Titus. So when an opportunity to bring her murderer to justice appears, Titus jumps on the chance. His quest, however, would mean traversing the dangerous world of Nivandor, a land infested with monsters, night hunters, and corrupt kings–nothing he and his lord, Lady Priscilla, couldn't handle. Their plans change, however, when both of them are dragged into a nightmare realm, a dimension filled with strange and powerful terrors unlike any they've ever faced. Titus's skill as a kinetic mage is put to the ultimate test as he must work with his lord to fight off the increasingly dangerous monsters that hunt them as they hunt down the three remaining Seraph lords sustaining the Nightmare. For only when the final Seraph lord is slain will the Nightmare truly end. --- Happy Holidays! I tried to get a chapter out this month, but there was just too much stuff to do and I got sick. There will also be more stuff to do come the month of December to the point that I don't think I will have a chance to finish the current story arc on a strong note. So, as of today, I will be going on hiatus until the holidays are over. I will hopefully return with the last few chapters of book 2 as well as the DLC chapters to help clarify Titus and Priscilla's powers as well as a look into their lives before the story gets crazy (maybe 6-7 chapters). These chapters are planned to take place in the day between Chapter 1.4 & Chapter 1.5, detailing the day they had before going to Nivandor. How the DLC chapters will be titled is to be decided. The DLC chapters will be posted here free as usual. Really excited to get a break so I can catch up on chapters. Even more excited to be able to start book 3 once the current story arc is finished. Warmly, Daniel --- Disclamer: This story is not a finished product and will be undergoing changes, sometimes significant changes, as the story develops. Think of it as an early access story where nothing is fully set in stone. If I change a part of the story that you really love, I'm sorry, but changing one part of the story will affect the other parts I try to avoid major changes, especially in older chapters, but for the newer ones there will probably be more fine tuning. As for anyone invested in the story who is not happy with the way the story is going, feel free to DM me so I can get feedback. I want to know how you guys feel about the story, what changes I can make, at what point in the story I may have lost you. But until I get specific feedback, I won't know what changes might need to be made. There are about 14 chapters left for Part 2 of Chimera, give or take. I don't have a time frame for when they will be up but know I am chipping away at the chapters as I can. Warm Regards, Daniel --- Cover art credit goes to Brosedesignz, who has an awesome selection of both premade and custom book covers at great prices on her website. She can also be found at thebookcoverdesigner.com, which is where I found my cover.
