Chapter 47.2: Legal Briefs
Scott smiled at the girls then sighed a little. It was the moment of truth. Many hours were spent in preparation for the coming moment. "Ladies. There is something else you should know."
All eyes turned toward him. Sonja spoke up, however, "Is something wrong?"
"Well, my aesthetic tastes might be called into question, but no," said Scott cryptically. He pulled his hip bag forward and batted it lightly.
"Your aesthetic tastes?" asked Ashton. She tilted her head to the side curiously, her ears perking upward a little in the process.
"Santa Scott has brought you handcrafted presents..." replied Scott before smiling brightly.
Fox, Valkyrie, or goddess, all girls seemed to love presents. Each of them leaned forward, their eyes alight with the mystery of the moment. What had he gotten for them? What did he make?
"In no particular order," said Scott, before reaching into his bag. He stuck his tongue out and made a big production out of fishing around inside.
"Oh the suspense!" cried Shara before giggling happily.
The girls shared a quick series of smiles between them before looking back to Scott. He pulled his hand out then laughed. "Seems Ashton gets something first!"
"Sweet!" cried the foxy girl before leaning forward. "What is it?"
"It's a new weapon. Each of you will get a new toy like that, but also something else." Scott handed her the mithril plated steel fang. The long knife gleamed in the light, and glowed softly due to its inherent purity.
Ashton's eyes widened. "It's so pretty."
Her eyes widened further when she checked its information. She nearly choked when she saw the offensive power and durability. "This thing is strong!"
"Oh?" asked Sonja, while looking over the item critically. "It does seem well-made."
"Increased damage against cursed monsters and undead, and a base damage of twenty-six to thirty-two..." said Ashton, "This kicks the ass right out of my old dagger!"
Sonja's eyes lit-up. "Stronger than most well-crafted steel long swords."
"Yeah, I figured out of all of you, Ashton would appreciate it most," said Scott before looking at the fox girl. "You mostly use long knives, or short swords, if you fight at melee."
"Thank you so much," she said, a warm smile on her lips. Ashton lightly trailed a finger along the flat of the blade. It was a serious upgrade from her old dagger, especially if she fought the undead.
Scott reached into his bag once more and fished around for something good. He pulled out a black item that looked a bit like a leather and scale corset, rather a cross between a bikini and lingerie. The girls stared at it for a moment and then looked at Scott with calculated expressions.

"Yeah... Anyway, the clothing items are the best I could make. They're made out of part of me after all," said Scott.
"Part of you?" asked Sonja, her interest rising considerably.
"Yes, I ripped off my own scales and pieces of my wings to make these," said Scott.
"Didn't that hut?" asked Ashton, wild-eyed.
"Yes. I'd prefer not to think about it..." Scott turned to Sonja, "This one is for you. No other woman in the world but you can wear it."
Sonja's eyes began to sparkle a little as Scott handed it over. "Scott..." she said softly while lightly stroking the fabric. The black and gold battle bikini shimmered gently in the light.
Her eyes widened considerably when she checked the status of her new armor. "T-this..."
"Yeah, I know it—" he began to say, only to be tackled to the ground by a determined blond Valkyrie. Sonja kissed him repeatedly on the lips, face, nose, and anywhere she could find a spot to kiss.
The garment came loose in the process and Ashton picked it up to see what all the fuss was about. "Oh, wow!"
"You made something like this?" asked Ashton in surprise.
Sonja continued to molest Scott with all of her might while babbling about how much she loved her new gift. It took quite a bit of effort to pry her away from him, after receiving such a wonderful thing.
"Mahorela Abaivonin's Secret?" asked Ashton. "What a weird name."
"It's not weird!" cried Sonja before snatching back her precious gift. She hugged it tightly to her impressive chest and rubbed her cheek against it. "It's beautiful."
"So, you like it then?" asked Scott lightly.
"Prepare to cry later," said Sonja passionately.
Scott's eyes widened. "T-that's alright, just enjoy it..."
"I promise you, I will," said Sonja with a grin.
"Cool..." said Scott, before coughing once and sticking his hand back into his bag. He once again fished around for an item, but this time specifically chose to seek out something for Shara. He nodded when he found her weapon.
Scott pulled out a short katana, what someone more knowledgeable might have called a wakizashi. "I'm not really great at making these things yet, since most of the swords and stuff want to synergize into a European design."
He presented the blade to Shara and she giggled excited, before hopping forward and kneeling before Scott. She sat seiza, her knees to the roof and her buttocks upon the tops of her feet. "My lord!"
He chuckled at her antics then decided to play along a little. He did not know the etiquette for bequeathing a sword to a ninja when it was sheathed, but he recalled something about how it was supposed to be offered when unsheathed. He decided to just treat this situation in the same manner.

Scott held the blade parallel to the ground, his hand at the base of the hilt. Shara's eyes lit up a little upon noticing his efforts and reverently placed her hand to the hilt directly below the guard.
"Thank you, Scott," she said softly. A slight hint of pink rose up on her cheeks to show how much it meant to receive such a thing from him.
He reached out and patted her on the head. She was a bit weird, but a sweet girl. Shara purred like a kitty and butted her head against his hand.
"What are the stats like?" asked Ashton expectantly.
Shara eyed the weapon for a moment then grinned. "Not quite as strong in pure damage when compared to your knife, but it has improved critical hit capacity."
"Oh, that's cool," said Ashton with a nod. Sonja merely nodded her head and continued to cuddle her new battle lingerie.
The gift giving continued after that. Ashton stared at the gift Scott offered to her. "What am I a cave woman?"
He laughed a little the handed the fur-lined dragon leather bikini to her. The gold colored fur piece wrapped around the chest, while thin black leather pieces ran vertically along her breasts and down to her crotch, The ensemble had a V-shape to it that left little to the imagination.
"You expect me to wear this in public?" asked Ashton nervously.
"Despite the lack of material, I'm sure it would stop a bullet," said Scott.
Ashton did just that then shook her head. "How can this thing have better defense than a steel breastplate!"
"Well, look at the treasure it's protecting," said Scott with a laugh. Ashton's nostrils flared a little and her cheeks reddened. Such a thing to say...
"Ah yeah, there's also this..." He pulled out a fur thigh wrap that went with Ashton's ensemble. She took it quickly then sighed. "That's a little better..."
"Lessee, two more gifts left..." Scott reached into his bag and pulled out a winged longsword. "Something for Sonja, I see.
During his experimentation he'd discovered a few different things about synergy. The sword in his hand was no doubt the perfect thing for the Valkyrie on the go. "I hope it suits you."
Sonja reverently took the blade from him then cooed at it like she was quieting a frightened child. "There, there, my precious one..." she whispered to the blade. Her eyes blazing with a merry twinkle of light when she say the stats. "Vampiric steel longsword..."
It was slightly worse than the Death's Steel Longswords that he typically made, when it came to attack damage, but it would drain the life energies from opponent's and use that energy to create a constant regenerative power for the wielder. "You should not need to worry about your health as long as you have an enemy to bleed for you in the future."
Sonja's eyes glistened with unshed tears. The glossy black blade shined in the light. Between the sword and her new outfit, she felt like a true warrior again at last.
"Alright, and that leaves one more gift!" Scott turned to Shara with a grin. She started to bounce up and down despite the way she was seated.
"Honestly, I was not certain what you'd like to wear. So, I decided to go for something a bit different," Scott pulled out a racy red tunic with a plunging neckline, and a similarly colored loin cloth. There were bits of rope here and there, and the outfit came with a black and gold thong to allow for something resembling feminine dignity. The resemblance to said dignity, was quite small.
"I know how much you liked that character, so I figured using pieces of myself, and my blood for dye might help. I guess it's not the most original thing, but..." explained Scott, only to have Shara start to cry a little.
"It's perfect," she said softly. Shara wiped at her left eye a little with the back of her hand. "Thank you so much."
She accepted the gift, a design modeled after her own desired Mai Shiranui cosplay attire, and stripped her clothes off immediately. The other girls blinked at her, but smiled after she finished putting it on. With an energetic bounce, she hopped up and made a cute post. "Oh, wow! This fits perfectly."
"I'm glad. All three of the outfits I made, ended up being useful for only the one it was made for after all. The more I focused on what to make, and for who, the more the synergy seemed to take over based on my desires," replied Scott.
That brought smiles to the faces of each of the girls. The thought that he'd go through so much trouble and pain for them, it was incredible.
"I want you three to know how much you mean to me," said Scott. "I guess, in the end, I figured that if anything ever happened to me those outfits would always let you hold on to a piece of me. You know?"
"Scott..." said Ashton, a concerned looked on her fact. His words were touching for each of them. Though, neither of them wanted to hear him speak of not being around any longer. In the end, the best gift given to either of them was the knowledge that he cared enough to give so much of himself just so they would understand his feelings.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
