《Blackthorne》Chapter 14.1: A Beautiful Pack Mule

Mature Content Warning: None really, a little foul language maybe.
Author's Note: This is a Sonja in the real world chapter segment. If you dislike her for some reason you can probably skip it. It is also very short, but it shows a bit more of her character I think. The rest of the chapter will take place in the dream world. :)
Chapter 14.1: A Beautiful Pack Mule
She flinched back slightly when the glass box flared to life with brilliant light and sound. The tiny little people that appeared were quite dedicated to whatever it was that they were talking about. Sonja tilted her head to the left and then back to the right. What exactly was a Kardashian, and why should she care?
The little man on the screen shouted about being a lawyer, and then the current crop of people disappeared. “How strange...”
She had awoken not long ago, and spent several minutes alone in the house. Her master was asleep, which meant that he was in her world. If he wanted to summon her, he would do so. She hoped that he would at least. This world was fascinating, but she would prefer to enjoy it with him.
Sonja blinked then leaned forward. “What’s this then?”
“Oh hi boys, do you fail to measure up to your partner’s expectations?” asked the scantily clad woman on the talking box.
“Don’t worry, try Penis Envy and you’ll will be the envy of the neighborhood.” said the woman before she cooed at a strange hand-pump shaped device.
Sonja’s left eyebrow rose up. “I wonder what that was about?” Somehow, she felt dirty, and a little sad.
The penis envy girl disappeared and several more people popped up. Frenetic music began to play in the background and they started to gyrate and dance in a bizarre manner. Sonja could not fathom the purpose of whatever it was that she currently saw, but the people seemed happy. That was nice. Another set of people appeared; they seemed to be some sort of giant dancing rodents who knew how to drive a car.

The next thing to appear was a man in a black outfit who sat behind some sort of desk. He spoke in an earnest tone that made her want to pay attention. Little screens popped up next to him as he spoke about what seemed to be national events.
“Strange structures have continued to appear across the world in recent days. Floating islands in the sky, hills, and plateaus have appeared all across the world.” said the man.
Sonja listened as he shared information about the world with her. It was quite nice of him to take the time out of his day to do that. She felt as though she had learned a great deal about current events by the time his earnest voice trailed off and a woman appeared on the little glass box.
“Is there a real life superhero living in North Carolina?” asked the earnest, but younger, man.
“Superhero?” asked Sonja. What might that be?
The earnest seeming man continued to address the possibility of a superhero existing. Sonja listened carefully as he described a woman in a red outfit who seemed to be able to appear and disappear at will. They even went live on the scene of the strangely garbed woman’s most recent sighting.
“Excuse me, can you tell us about the woman in red?” asked a woman with pretty hair. Sonja liked the way that it shined in the light. How had she managed that effect? She would have to look into it later.
An older woman who wore some strange sort of cap and had her hair rolled over small cylinders spoke up, “That bitch be crazy!”
The news anchor tried her best not to react but the way the woman shouted that out was too comical to resist. However, she managed to reign in her impulse at the last moment and asked seriously. “How so?”

“Well, there were a bunch of them boys who won’t stop walkin’ through my back yard over at the sto’. You know the one got robbed just now.” said the woman.
“Yes. Go on.” said the onsite reporter.
“Now, don’t rush ma honey. Anywa’ them boys were there and then I heard a gunshot. It won’t long befo’ the police showed up, no lot long ’tal.” said the older woman.
The reporter listened attentively while her eye witness continued her story. She spoke of how the police arrived and the boys inside took the people in there hostage. They were at a standoff for a few minutes.
“Then what happened?” prompted the reporter.
“Well, wouldn’t you know it? That crazy bitch just sort of came out of nowhere and started kicking the crap out them boys.” said the woman.
“Weren’t they armed, though?” asked the reported in confusion.
“Abs’lutely they was. I couldn’t see too much cause I didn’t wanna die, right? But, I used my binoculars that I have for keeping watch ‘roun heya to look through the winda down there.” she said.
“So, she took out four armed men?” asked the reporter.
“Yes ma’am she sho’ did, and did it like they were nothin’. Makes me wonder what kind of crack she was on, cuz nobody moves like that.” said the eye witness.
The reporter asked her more about that and the woman just shook her head. She said, “I tol’ ya that bitch be crazy.”
The reporter turned back to the camera. “You heard it live here folks. Back to you James.”
Sonja nodded. She did not know exactly what she had just heard, but apparently a superhero was someone who stopped robberies and may not be quite right in the head.
Her stomach rumbled and she looked down at it like it was a traitor. “I just fed you, alot.”
Her tummy made a gurgling noise that sounded like it had whimpered. It was ever so hungry.
She sighed softly then stood up from the couch and headed toward the refrigerator. Sonja opened it up and then leaned forward and looked inside. She bit her lower lip then casually canted her hips to the left and then to the right. “Hmmm...?”
The hungry Valkyrie pulled out an overly large cucumber. She gazed upon it thoughtfully for a moment. Her eyes widened slightly then a soft blush crossed her cheeks. She returned the vegetable to its former location then sought out something else. Eventually, she took out a few slices of ham and cheese.
She set about making a sandwich not long after, and soon her mission to create a late night snack had come to an end. She took one bite before she felt a familiar disorienting wave of force wash over her. A brief moment later she blinked then took in the image of a strangely exciting sight.
“Hey Sonja.” said her master.
Sonja blinked twice then tilted her head to the side. “You’ve been busy, master.”
Blackthorne laughed a little then nodded to her. He now wore a suit of full body armor that greatly increased his intimidation factor.
Sonja finished swallowing her bite of sandwich with a visible gulp then bit her lower lip once more. The light danced in her eyes as she reveled in the sight of her master in real armor. She had found something far tastier than her ham sandwich to enjoy, and she wanted to savor that special flavor.

Rise of an Undead in a Fantasy World
Have you ever wondered what would happen if an undead being that doesn't know what it is like to be alive got free will? What would that undead creature do? How would they think? How would they view the world around them? Would they see life as futile and conquer the world, making it a lifeless danger zone to all living beings? Well, none of that matters, because that's not happening. Our main character is your average gamer from the modern world, yada yada yada... gets transported to a fantasy world through obscure means, blah blah blah... you know how this works. What separates him from the masses, however, are his views on ethics, and world politics. ... Oh, and the fact that he doesn't need to breathe. Message From Author! Accept?: Yes No This is only my second novel, so keep that in mind. I will try to keep the quality of the story to an acceptable level. This means something that I, myself would read. The quantity, however, may put some people off. Adding onto the whole "villainous lead" thing, I will make sure to have the character develop into that perfect little villain over time, instead of starting him out as a bloodthirsty murder-hobo. Of course, there will still be a lot of murdering and he may be a hobo for some of it, but it will mostly not be out of malice in the very early chapters. Last but not least, I have decided there will not be a defined release schedule for this, as I have lost interest in forcing myself to upload x amount of times a week. I will upload whenever I get a good idea, and take my time. That is, if I even feel like writing in the first place. Instead of taking breaks from this novel to do my own thing, I will take breaks from my daily life to post on here. Also, I'm lazy. Thanks for reading, and if you're alright with everything above, feel free to give it a read, and without further ado, have a good one! - Your Author P.S.: I will have little to no romance in the story, as I can't bring myself to writing it, so you don't have to worry about harems.
