《You Are The Gods.》Chapter 1: The Champions Select Their Deities!

As you lay dormant inside of your domain, a screen apparates in front of you. As you look up at the screen, a mysterious being wearing a blue robe with a blacked-out face and one golden eye comes into view. This is the beginning of the first invasion. The concept that the Archiver has created peaks your interest. Looking around at the realm in which you created, boredom has set in over the past 1,000 years. Might as well try out something new.
“HELLOOOOOO DEITIES!” the Archiver yells. “Today is the long-awaited day of the first invasion!”
Behind him appears a world is lush with beautiful green continents and deep blue oceans. The planet is serene-looking. No intelligent life has inhabited the planet and as far you can see, there are only plants around. You spot no buildings that stand tall in the sky. The scars of war have not yet defaced this beautiful paradise.
The Archiver lets out a long sigh as he takes in the view of the world in front of him.
“Isn’t it just… Boring?”
The Archiver’s look turns into one of disgust and boredom. The calm lands below the mysterious deity well up a fury inside of him.
“Shall we spice it up a bit?”
With a snap of his fingers, vortexes appear all over the lands. Creatures pour out of the portals from beyond. Some of the creatures are small and goblin-like as they skitter away while grumbling nonsense. Others are the size of giant mountains that quake the ground with each step.
The summoned creatures seem to have known what was going on before they came. They quickly sprawl out across the lands in search of the prime spot to call their home.
The aura of anger that the Archiver was giving off seems to have abated, but the boredom is still there. His hand reaches his darkened face as the Archivist thinks of a way to make this better. With a snap of the fingers, an idea pops into the Archivist’s mind.
“Ah, I got it!”
A few words in a language you do not completely comprehend seep out of the Archivist’s mouth. Soon, whole cities materialize on Galactor, their residents soon to follow.
Mass panic arises within all the cities, but that is of no concern to the Archivist.
“Now that the stage is set, let’s go meet some of the Main Characters!”
With a small gesture from the host, he alters your view and you now see a completely white reality. The Archivist waves a hand and six beings appear in front of him.
They all look around in confusion at first. They have been brought to an entirely new reality, and the process isn’t one that most mortals can handle easily. The Archivist proceeds to tap each one of them on the forehead and all their eyes clear up.
“I have given everyone the basic knowledge they need to know and the ability to communicate. Are there any questions you all wish to ask my magnanimous self before we continue?”
Before anyone can formulate an actual question, the Archivist continues, obviously not interested in anything they have to ask.
“Would you all please open your systems and see your sponsorship offers from the Deities? Make sure you pick the deity you would be willing to serve for the rest of your life!”
Each of the six beings points their index finger out in front of themselves. To them, they see their screens, like how you do, yet you cannot see their screens or what is on them. It isn’t that long before one of them speaks up.

The being to speak up first is a human with long blonde hair and a beautiful face for human standards. The air around her exudes confidence and her cold gaze shows calmness even in the crazy situation.
“Why should we even pick a deity? None of these is appealing to me considering I’d never serve someone for all of my life.”
The Archivist cackles loudly at this. He then points to the woman’s right. As her gaze turns to the side, a creature with pale white skin, massive eyes with deep pupils, and long claws covered in blood lunges at the woman. Though she doesn’t scream out in fear, the woman falls backwards as the claws of the creature stop right before they shred through her pretty face.
A chain made of blue flames holds the creature back by its neck, barely preventing the thing from killing the other Main Characters.
“I do not care for your wellbeing, but your Deity will. There is a chance that one of you might arrive on Galactor standing next to this creature. If you are confident in defeating it by yourself then go ahead and not pick a Deity. If you do pick a Deity, I’m sure they will help you survive getting hunted by our Ghoul friend here.”
The once confident woman that has had nothing ever faze her has finally tasted the fear of death and she truly starts to consider the option of picking a deity.
The other human out of the six beings is the next to speak up as he steps forward. The human is tall nearing around 6’7 and is extremely muscular. His friends at the construction site he works at call him Earnest Schwarzenegger, referring to one of the most famous bodybuilders in Earth’s history.
His face is full of hesitation but Earnest McGray is a man who trusts his gut feeling, and his gut is telling him to choose one specific deity.
“I have made my decision.” the huge man with defined muscles yells loudly. “I choose… Monke Sage as my deity!”
“May I ask why? I’m sure the Deities you denied are curious to know.”
“Well, if I am to be faced against that disgustin’ thing over there then I’ll need everything I can get. Monke Sage simply offered me the most amount of items and also promises not to impose too many rules upon me.”
Earnest closes his eyes for a second and concentrates on what to say to the other gods. Earnest has always been a good god-fearing, Christian man, so the last thing he wants to do is anger other Deities.
“As for the others, I am humbled by your offer and hope you understand my choice. It is nothing against you, but simply I prefer the offer from Monke Sage better.”
“Wise words from the human. Now, let’s see your rewards!”
A massive D20 die appears in the sky.
“For anything you receive that says random, we will roll a D20. If it is 1-10 it will be a common rarity item/skill/class. If it is 11-15 it will be an uncommon rarity item/skill/class. If it is 16-19 it will be a rare rarity item/skill/class. If you roll the coveted natural 20, it will be a mythic rarity item/skill/class. For rolls that involve skills, we will roll a D4 beforehand, which will determine the type of skill. If it is 1, it will be an Attack based skill. If it is 2, it will be a Defensive based skill. If it is a 3, it will be a Support based skill. If it is a 4, it will be a Utility based skill.”

A button appears in front of Earnest McGray that simply says ‘Roll’ on it. Earnest was offered a Random Class, a Random Skill, and a Random Weapon from Monke Sage, and up first is his class. Earnest presses the roll button and prays to his new Monkey Deity for good luck. The D20 rolls around before it lands on 14.
Words appear above the D20 that tells everyone what class Earnest has received.
‘Congratulations Earnest McGray on acquiring the Stone Monkey Monk Uncommon Class!’
Earnest McGray groans with pain as his body acquires its new class. A thick monkey tail grows out from the bottom of his back, and Earnest’s once completely shaved head sprouts out thick brown fur. Luckily, the process doesn’t take long and Earnest is back on his feet. The now monkey/human hybrid feels more nimble and powerful than he has ever before.
Earnest doesn’t hesitate and is quick with rolling his next die, convinced that his luck will give him something else useful.
Since the next roll involves a skill, the D20 is replaced with a D4. Earnest presses the roll button and the D4 lands on 2. This means it will be a defensive skill, and a D20 is quickly rolled soon afterwards. The D20 lands on 7 and sends out a congratulatory message.
‘Congratulations Earnest McGray on acquiring Stone Skin, a Common Defensive Skill.’
Stone Skin is a simple yet effective skill that lets the user turn their body into hard stone. The downside to it is that the user completely loses mobility of whatever they turn into stone.
Though Earnest is not happy with the rarity, being able to turn himself into stone to protect his body sounds very useful to the human.
The final D20 is for Earnest’s weapon. Earnest would originally be confused on why he would need a weapon, but the Archive put knowledge in all of the Main Characters that told them about the world they were going into. It would be an extremely dangerous place with monsters lurking around every corner.
Knowing that this is probably going to be the most important item in the early parts of his survival in this new world, Earnest prays to his Monkey Deity so intensely that his teeth are grinding together.
“Please be good!” Earnest yells as he presses the roll button for the final time within this reality. The D20 rolls around and finally lands on an 11.
‘Congratulations Earnest McGray on acquiring Rock Splitting Naginata, an Uncommon Weapon.’
Earnest lets out a sigh of relief as he was one away from not getting an Uncommon Weapon, which would’ve put him in a less than favourable situation.
A naginata that looks like it has a dull edge yet is unbreakable materializes into Earnest’s hands.
“Congratulations and may you entertain us until you die. Who is next?”
Earnest doesn’t take what the Archivist says very well as he doesn’t like the thought of simply being a show for a bunch of Deities to watch. Even though Earnest feels this way, it is not like there is much he can do so he simply goes back to where he was in the first place.
The next person to come forward is a male Dragonkin with dull green scales. His name is Khaz’Kor Kiveth and he speaks with a deep, gravelly voice. His frame is even bigger than Earnest’s, with Khaz’kor reaching 8 feet tall. Yet, Khaz’kor is considered to be on the tiny end of Dragonkin as the average height is around 12 feet tall for his race.
“I choose Luxurious Apathy as my Deity! The other ones simply offer too little for me to react. My response back to you Hoarder is that I do not trust that you would be willing to part with your items to give to me, putting me in a dangerous position even if I do prove myself to you! A true dragon goes with the most he can get immediately, and that is what I have chosen. For you, The Known One, I doubt you’re the only one who can help me survive this mess as you haven’t even offered enough for me to confidently handle that beast over there.”
Khaz’kor points to the Ghoul that is still being held down by chains as it thirsts for the blood of the other Main Characters.
“Well then, come forward and roll your dice!”
Having gotten a Random Archer Class, and two Random Skills, Khaz’kor has 5 dice to roll. You watch as these are the results.
For Random Archer class Khaz’kor rolls a 10, barely missing out on an Uncommon class by one. He receives the Steadfast Bowman Common Class. Nothing changed much in Khaz’kor so he didn’t groan out in pain like how Earnest did.
For the first Random Skill, Khaz’kor rolls a 1 on the D4 and a 9 on the D20. He receives the Triple Shot Common Attack Skill, which lets him shoot 3 arrows from his bow at once accurately.
For the second Random Skill, Khaz’kor rolls a 3 on the D4 a 14 on the D20. He receives the Adrenaline Rush Uncommon Support Skill. This skill lets the user push their adrenaline to the limit whenever they want, increase all of their senses, strength, speed, and it even causes the user to perceive everything faster. This makes it so time seems to go slower for the user, which is useful for an archer. The disadvantage for this is that afterwards, the user feels an immense wave of fatigue.
“Congratulations and may you entertain us until you die. Who is next?”
The Ghoul stops trying to eat the others and walks towards the Archivist and points at his screen. You cannot see what is on the screen, but the Archivist seems to understand who the Ghoul is pointing at.
The Ghoul has long arms that nearly reach its ankles, and its back is hunched over to an extreme. The scariest part is still the foot-long claws that look like they could cut through steel.
“And why them?” the Archivist asks.
“Message, devour.” the Ghoul says with simple language but a disturbingly creepy voice.
“Ah… Makes sense. Well, go ahead and roll your two skills then. Oh, and since you’re technically a monster you can only get monster skills. So there will only be a D20 roll for each.”
For the first skill, the Ghoul rolls a 12. They receive the Gluttonous Healing Monster Uncommon Skill. This skill lets monsters eat the flesh of the living and heal very quickly because of doing so.
For the second skill, the Ghoul rolls a 6. They receive the Stalk Monster Common Skill. This skill lets the monster hunt down its prey with high levels of stealth.
“Congratulations and may you entertain us until you die. Who is next?”
The Ghoul heads back to where it was and tries to use its Stalk skill on the other Main Characters. Unfortunately, it is hard to sneak around when there is a bright blue flaming chain attached to your neck.
The woman before who said that she wouldn’t take a deity finally comes forward. Her name is Cecilia Hertz and she has since recovered from her earlier spook. She has the aura of a queen and the cunningness of a businesswoman.
“I choose the deity The Vengeance of the Abyss. I would like to thank The Keeper of Secrets for his offer but I feel I’m not the mage type.” the woman says with a bow towards the empty whiteness.
Before the Archivist can tell her to roll, she rolls for her class. The D20 lands on a 14, giving Cecilia the Apprentice Assassin Uncommon Class. She groans out in pain like how Earnest did as her body accepts the new class.
Cecilia quickly recovers and rolls the next D20 for her weapon. The Archivist speaks up before the die rolls.
“For Guaranteed rolls, 1-15 is for the tier that is guaranteed, 16-19 is one tier above the guaranteed, and 20 is two tiers above the guaranteed. Good luck.”
As the Archivist finishes his words, the D20 rolls and lands on a 1. This prompts a laugh to erupt from within the Archivist.
“That’s what you get for being so against deities at the beginning!”
Cecilia receives the Arcane Fan Knives, a Rare Weapon. 5 deep blue knives appear in her hands as she gracefully walks back to her original spot.
“Congratulations and may you entertain us until you die. Who is next?”
A small humanoid woman walks forward. Her race is Gnome, and her face is the opposite of Cecilia’s. Scars cover her body as she is barely wearing rags. The region she comes from is wartorn, and it shows on her body. The Gnome’s name is Myceli Rulwers.
“I choose The Keeper of Secrets! Unlike you idiots who have to rely on something to survive, I don’t need a bunch of handouts from some sick and twisted gods! I also refuse to be some fake figure for your fucked up cults, you hear me?!” Myceli yells.
“Then why choose The Keeper of Secrets?” the Archivist asks with a sly grin.
“Because I am confident he will keep everything about me a secret! The less the gods know about me the better!” Myceli yells as she rolls the roll button.
The deal she accepts offers her one random skill and two health potions. The D4 rolls for her skill and it lands on a 1. The D20 rolls and lands on an 11. She receives Silence, an Uncommon Attack Skill. This skill lets the user instantly silence their enemy for up to 15 seconds. It is extremely useful when facing mages, and when trying to assassinate someone.
Two health potions also appear in her hands as she walks back to her original spot.
“Congratulations and may you entertain us until you die. There’s only one person left. Come forward, Atral.”
A dragonkin even smaller than Khaz’kor sheepishly shuffles her way forward. She never meets the gaze of the Archivist out of pure fear and confusion at the situation at hand.
“Hmph? I thought I gave you all a confidence boost using my magic. I wonder why you’re still like this?”
“I… I… I do not know sir.” Atral says in a small voice. Her scales shine a bright blue and her voice sounds like a chime. Her full name is Atral Rivertail.
“Well it doesn’t matter, who have you picked?”
“I… pick all of them!” Atral yells with a little confidence like she had found a loophole in the system. When she looks at the Archivist her draconic blood runs cold. The Archivist has a wicked smile on his shadowy face.
“Trying to bend the rules huh? Well, as punishment you are not allowed to pick your choice for a week! Now head back in line, and may you entertain us until you die.”
Atral realizes the implications of that and she looks over towards the Ghoul. The Ghoul is smiling wide and pointing at her.
“My Deity, feed me her!” the Ghoul yells, sensing the fear and weakness within Atral. Atral shudders at this and tears well up at the sides of her eyes.
“Well, we have no time to squander. I am already being asked by the gods when we will begin, so good luck!” the Archivist yells while waving his hand. As the hand is waved, all six Main Characters disappear, likely to reappear somewhere on Galactor.
A message appears on your screen. ‘Who should be the two that we all watch together?’

The Nightcore Trilogy
Going to space was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime, but for Reece Danielson and his crew, it was only the beginning. As the fresh astronauts aboard the Zhengzhou International Space Station start their on-the-job training, Reece is shown a discovery that changes his entire worldview. It isn’t long before a tragic accident aboard the station sets off a series of events that not only puts the crew in danger but at odds with each other. The events quickly escalate into a man-made apocalyptic incident on the surface of the planet. A virulent plague is prematurely released which transforms everyone into flesh-eating undead, and that is only the beginning of the troubles. There are far worse things down there than zombies and possibly a few of them lurk on the station itself. The Nightcore Trilogy thematically begins with a heavy sci-fi feel coupled to a gritty space-based horror mystery. The story's layers are slowly peeled back, evolving into something much more supernatural, mythological, and high-fantasy-based. It's a mix of elements from survival horror, zombie apocalypses, ancient mythologies, supernatural stories, and harem anime. It contains semi-descriptive sex scenes (traditional and non-traditional), descriptions of gore, profanity, and adult situations, so I recommend it for mature and open-minded audiences only.
