《Cultivation Anomaly》Chapter 8: Busy Body Monk

"So, Elder Shen," said Felix, really hoping his quest would be this easy. "I really don't remember much. Could you tell me the names of the elders and a bit about them."
"Certainly, young one." Said the monk with a smile. He was more than happy to move on to a different subject. "Though then I am going to have to get back to my cultivation."
Felix nodded in acknowledgment. "Of course, elder."
"Well, as I am sure you've heard by now, there are twelve of us. First, there is the grand elder Akeno. He is honestly more of our sect's patriarch than the grand elder. Then there is elder Rong who oversees the disciple’s education. “The monk paused then smiled. Then in quick succession, he said “There is also Elder Bai, Elder Jin, Elder Kane, Elder Ja, Elder Feng, Elder Lin, Elder Harold, Elder Jackie, myself, and finally elder Zhenzhen."
Felix tried to memorize all the names but felt a bit overwhelmed.
"Umm, I am sorry elder, but could you tell me a bit about them? It is just a lot to take in."
Elder Shen laughed.
"Nope,” He said with a big smile.
Felix paused. "Umm, why?"
The monk rolled his eyes. "Because you should talk to your other disciples and ask them. You will need to try to rebuild bonds with the Sect." The monk’s dark eye now focused on something behind Felix. "Like this fine disciple right here."
Felix turned to find a Female disciple walking toward them. The disciple in question had a very serious expression on her face as if she was considering a matter of great import. She looked up at the monk's final words.
No freaking way. Thought Felix. She is totally giving off a serious no-nonsense vibe. Oh my god, is this seriously an icy beauty?

"Ahhh, disciple Bao Feng Xue, just who I was hoping to see," said the monk.
The female stopped and narrowed her eyes at the elder. She still brought her hands together in a sign of respect.
"Elder Shen, how may I help you?" said disciple Xue.
"Young Felix here is in need of a guide." said the monk.
Xue gave Felix a confused look and then turned back to the elder.
"Disciple Poe has been here for a few years, what exactly am I guiding him too?"
"Oh, that’s right. You just came back to the sect yesterday. Disciples Po, or Felix, as well as a number of other disciples, suffered a soul attack." Said the monk. Felix felt uncomfortable by the look of horror Xue shot his way. "He seems to be recovering but has lost some of his memories. His original guide, disciple Martel, is currently on an errand for me so I was hoping you could show him around. Oh, and you can have that cold pill for free if you do so."
Xue sighed and then nodded to the Elder. The monk tossed her a pill in a bottle which she snatched out of the air. She turned toward Felix.
"Well come along then," she said and started walking away from the pavilion.
Felix was a little stunned by the quick change of events but after a shooing motion from the elder decided to follow Xue. He suddenly heard a whisper in his mind. "Now disciple Felix, I have given you an opportunity to make a better impression." Certain it was the Elder, Felix continued walking in confusion
They took another path and then disciple Xue looks toward Felix. "Well, this certainly makes my grudge seem a little silly."

"Umm, what? We had a grudge?" said Felix.
The girl sighed. "It really wasn't that big of a deal. What are you doing here anyway? I would assume you would be recovering if the injury was so bad."
"Well to be honest I just wanted to get acquainted with the Sect again." A loud rumble sounded from Felix's stomach and he blushed when disciple Xue looked at him. "And I suppose some food would be good."
She sighed again. "Well then, follow me."

Dungeon Crawler Katia
The aliens killed everyone on Earth...almost. Every structure, from the Taj Mahal to the lowliest lobster trap, vanished into the earth, killing everyone inside. The survivors were given a choice: Endure on the surface without food or shelter or tools, or descend into a world-spanning nightmare dungeon that is also a reality TV show. Katia, an art professor from Iceland who has given up her humanity to transform into a shapeshifting doppelganger, meets up with Carl and his cat, Donut. Together, the three fight to survive in a dungeon filled with Clarketech goblin murderdozers and pyramid-scheme fairy moonshine-makers. The above is, of course, describing Dungeon Crawler Carl. With DoctorHepa's (the author) permission I'm posting some fanfic to expand on Katia, one of the secondary characters who started off not getting as much exploration as I would have preferred. I started off writing chapters that matched up to canon except from her POV instead of Carl's; that lasted a couple of chapters before going off the rails and spinning off into a completely new story, which suggests I should really go back and renumber all the chapters as soon as I find some tuits.
