《Approaching Ascension (Book 1) [Hiatus before Book 2]》Chapter 068

He had reached lv1 Foundation Establishment Equivalent of a Body Refining, and was a lv 1 Expert Mortal body Refiner. He had deliberately slowed his xp grinding when he had reached lv10 Qi Condensation as he didn't want to breakthrough without an appropriate Cultivation Manual and Foundation Establishment Pills. That would create a shitstorm and his every move would be under scrutiny. Even with all his efforts to conceal his physical prowess, he had an eerie feeling that he was under watch a lot of time.
Apparently Great Elder Shi was well aware of the progress of his cultivation base and a message was conveyed to him through the mission hall, which instructed Fang Hao to be ready near the Bronze Scripture Pavilion on a certain date for his Foundation Establishment Scripture. He had continued meeting with and maintaining goodwill with his clique. With the help of his Qi Condensation pills, they had faster growth rates than others of their talent level. He was at the peak of Qi Condensation, and the Qi Condensation pills were turning out to be too trashy for Qi recovery unless he used a few of them together. Fang Hao was leisurely drinking wine and eating roasted meat after having sent off his clique as he reviewed his Status Screen.

'Forming the 2nd Seal and having a breakthrough in my body cultivation has made me more or less invulnerable to Qi Condensation Spells/Attacks. And speaking of the second seal.' Fang Hao sighed mentally as he observed his arm. His skin had extremely faint, almost invisible hexagonal bands on it and a faint greenish tinge to it. On top of that whatever little weight he had lost, his second seal had thickened his skin to a tough leathery hide which made him look fatter.
'My refined and noble golden skin has turned into some sort of thick greenish hide. It makes me look fatter than I am. Looks like, I am destined to be a fatty in this life. ' thought Fang Hao as he tore a large chunk of meat from a greasy sizzling drumstick of a wind wolf and relished the succulent meat of the spirit beast.
'But I shouldn't complain too much. This thick skin boosts my defense by a lot. And More defense is always good. Not to mention the 2nd seal has given a huge boost to my Physique and Finesse. If I use Aura Infusion to the max, Floating Leaves step, the straw sandal magic tool and Phantom Aura steps liberally; I estimate that I can run away from an early initial Foundation Establishment stage Cultivator, other than the fact that I cannot fly yet and their regular spells won't cause too big of an injury. Hopefully, I won't need to verify my defense and speed against Foundation Establishment Cultivators anytime soon.'

'I may be able to preserve my life from an initial Foundation Establishment Cultivator, but I don't think I can kill him. Any Foundation Establishment Cultivator can just fly away from me and I will be helpless and impotent to do anything. The last spell of the Aura Fist Manual is really something though. No way I can practice that spell to increase proficiency. Its basically a Forbidden Spell which I hopefully will never need to use. Maybe I should increase its proficiency with skill points? Who knows, it may save my ass when shit really hits the fan.' ruminated Fang Hao.
'Speaking of Skill points, I farmed around 50 skill points leveling up the spells I really used till now. I can evolve Fire Serpent Spell and Floating Leaves Step since both are at Perfection now. Should I evolve them, or save the skill points for later? Hmm, I will decide after seeing the spell library. Too bad Aura Fist, Aura Infusion and Phantom Aura steps can't be evolved even if all three are at Perfection.'
'Using skills in battle really raises the proficiency very quickly though. I managed to Grind 4 spells to perfection and 3 spells to Expert in three and half years farming quite a bit of skill points. Hunting and Slaughter for Profit sure is Fun! Aura Blast is useful, but not outstanding. Still My next target should be to grind it to Perfection, or at least Master. Blood Thorn Vine and Thunder sparrow are good spells though. I should grind them up to perfection and perhaps evolve Blood Thorn Vine too if I can.'
'I have also saved up around 200,000 contribution points. If nothing, that should tide me for a while as a Junior Core Disciple and Foundation Establishment Cultivator. Looks like I will reach my goal of Entering Foundation Establishment and its Body Refining equivalent before 25 years of age. Tomorrow should be interesting. I wonder what sort of Cultivation Manual Great Elder Shi will give? I hope its the good stuff. Well it probably will be considering the status of a Great Elder and all. If the gossip is to be believed there are only a dozen or so Great Elders while there are tens of thousands of Qi Condensation Disciples. So they really have status and shouldn't be too stingy. I hope' thought Fang Hao as he speculated about his future interaction with the Great Elder.

Millennia have passed since the end of the God Wars. Mankind's heroes of these wars, the powerful Luminescents, have since become the rulers of the lands, relying on their ancestors' deeds to fuel their own ambitions. The Church itself has fractured since the death of their Goddess. Now it has shifted its focus to a new power - the descendents of the men and women who had received her blessing in the past - the Luminescents. However, with the death of the Goddess Selene, their own abilities began to lessen in quality with each successive generation, leaving them grasping desperately at whatever they can; money, lands, power. Sevrath was born in a time far different than that of ages past. Much of the continent was under the rule of the powerful Luminescent rulers. The Gods were dead and gone; the age of man had begun. Only the Desolate Lands lay unconquered and resolute, a relic of the power of Deimos, the God of Death and Destruction. So when he is found near the borders of the Desolate Lands, what does it mean?
