《Approaching Ascension (Book 1) [Hiatus before Book 2]》Chapter 062

'Looks like collecting all that shiny loot will have to wait. Fuck you wolves, this daddy will go all out.' thought Fang Hao as he popped another Qi Condensation Pill, maxed his Aura Infusion, used floating leaves step and dashed towards the wolves. Although the barrier talismans he had used near the start of the fight with the inner disciples had almost been exhausted, the membrane barrier from his glove magic tool was intact. It was also strong enough to take dozens of the weak wind blades from the wind wolves.
Phantom Aura Steps was a very good evasive move, but it drained a lot of Qi. For a barrage of weak attacks, it was simply more efficient to use his membrane barrier to absorb the damage instead of evading it fully using Phantom Aura Steps. The membrane barrier could be recharged with his Qi before it could run out. And if the barrier did fail, his tempered fleshly body wouldn't be in any real danger from the weak wind blades.
The fatty reached in grappling range of the nearest wind wolf, caught two of its fore limbs and ripped its body into two before the poor wolf could evade. Pieces of flesh and spattering of blood stuck like an oily residue to his inner disciple robes. Its pack-members were shooting wind blades towards the fatty with increased intensity. While it was depleting his membrane barrier, there was more than enough time for Fang Hao to literally rip apart another couple of wolves into halves before the membrane barrier started flickering.
Around half the pack-members were already killed when the biggest wind wolf and two of its companions charged at him in unison. Fang Hao met their charge head on, as he smashed the back of one of the nearby wolf's neck as an audible crunch was heard. The wolf collapsed like a puppet with its string cut but it was still whimpering in a barely audible pitiful manner. It was almost dead and paralyzed downwards from the neck.

While Fang Hao was dealing with one wind wolf, the wind wolf leader and its lone surviving companion used their powerful jaws to bite his forearm and thigh respectively. Fang Hao's membrane barrier finally dissipated and he felt a sharp persistent pain where the wolves where clamping their jaw shut. He headbutted the wind wolf leader biting his forearm hoping to dislodge his arm, but the wind wolf leader refused to let go.
Enraged Fang Hao punched its body with his other arm and headbutted it again, killing it. He swiped his arm causing the carcass of the wind wolf leader to dislodge and fly away and hit a nearby tree trunk. The last remaining wind wolf was still persistently biting his thigh. Fang Hao punched its ears simultaneously with both his knuckles, smashing its skull and killing it instantly.
Fang Hao was intermittently groaning in pain as he surveyed the remains on the battle field. He exposed his forearm from his sleeves and surveyed the wound on his arm. The wind wolf leader had made a series of bloody deep puncture wounds on his fatty flesh, almost reaching his bone. His blood had already started clotting though and he estimated the wound would heal reasonably in an hour or so. The wounds on his thigh were somewhat painful, but were bearable.
'Close combat and killing sure is intense. That was an unexpected rush. I would have used a lot more Qi if I was determined to potshot them with long range spells from behind a barrier and flee while minimizing risk. If the leader had bit my neck, I would be in serious trouble. While my defense is good, the cultivation of my body refining technique still too low. If I had cultivated the Divine Vajra Body Scripture to the fifth or maybe sixth move, the bites wouldn't be much more lethal than pinpricks. Truly a superb body refining technique!' though Fang has he was dumping the wind wolf corpses into his storage pouch.

'Tsk Tsk. I was caught up in the heat of the moment and ripped apart three of the wind wolves. I don't think I will get the full contribution point value for these corpses. Damn that retard Zhen Ji and his cucked flunkies for spoiling my mood with their shitty ambush.' he berated as he reached Zhen Ji's corpse. Fang Hao stripped Zhen Ji and dumped all his clothes and miscelanneous belongings in Zhen Ji's looted storage pouch. He then cast a fire serpent spell to thouroughly burn the corpse to ashes and flicked his sleeves causing a wind blade to blow away the ashes away.
He moved on to the next disciple who was surprisingly alive and barely breathing. Fang Hao decapitated him with a wind blade spell, looted all his belongings and disposed of his corpse. While he was looting the corpses of the inner disciples and retrieved his iron club and sledgehammer, he was humming a merry tune as he casually left the scene of slaughter towards the nearby stream to wash the stench and blood of his robes.
'Meh washing these robes will be too bothersome. Might as well use a fresh set.' thought Fang Hao as he disrobed to his loincloth and burnt the bloody gore coated robe. He then cautiously washed the blood of his limbs and wore a fresh pair of robes form his storage pouch. He then fled to a more secluded location. He checked his status screen and was feeling a pleasant sensation of comfortable warmth in his entire body when viewing the xp fields, other than his painfully throbbing arm and aching thigh.
'Not bad, not bad. Those five retards and six wolves gave me roughly 7000 xp! That's almost a month's worth of xp farming which includes sparring and safe zone missions. If the magic beast carcass delivery missions also award xp, then this will be very efficient xp wise. I am very close to leveling up and will probably do so once I deliver the wind wolf corpses. So I should probably kill some more stuff before returning. Leveling up during a fight or spar is one thing. I can always claim that I got enlightenment or an epiphany from the battle which lead to a breakthrough, if the levelup happens by mistake. But I shouldn't make a habit of it for routine xp farming tasks with witnesses.'
'But I did use quite a bit of consumables though. While not enough to deplete my supply, still it was a noticeable chunk! The contribution points earnt should also be decent enough. Now all I need to do is sort through the loot and dump all the unwanted stuff before returning to the sect. I probably shouldn't make a habit of it, but Murder for XP feels so good. If I have a valid excuse, then it is fair game.' thought Fang Hao as he planned his next course of action with a perverted looking snicker on his face.
