Chapter 76
The Dark One’s Respite 6
-:-
The next day
Lunch Time
Miss Samantha’s Office
HAA Campus
“So, how does it feel to be famous?” asked Miss Samantha with a teasing smile
“Annoying. This is not the ‘fame’ my naive self once envisioned.” replied the tired Theo.
Theo and Miss Samantha were relaxing after their going through their respective take out lunches.
Juno was also there, but after finishing her food, she stood in the corner and resumed roleplaying as Theo’s servant
This time around, she wore a butler uniform which was modified to show off her curves.
She was also one of the main sources of Theo’s current headache.
Let’s move back the clock a few hours ago.
As promised to Barth yesterday, Theo began attending school once again.
His punishment for his absence was detention with Miss Samantha.
Clearly another asskissing attempt by the HAA to gain his favor.
Aside from that, he was asked to meet with the principal after school for a ‘debriefing’.
Since it was already widely known that he has returned, the flies that he hoped to avoid, swarmed him.
People he never once talked to suddenly approaching him to start a conversation like they were close.
Using all of the conversational training he had with Miss Samantha, he politely and underhandedly told everyone to go fuck off and never speak to him again.
The ever smiling Juno also added a nigh impenetrable defense by speaking the phrase…
“Theo, you have the most beautiful girl in the world as one of your lovers. Forget these filthy social climbers and focus on the one that has loved you unquestioningly for so long.”
This statement was meant to drive 2 points home.
First, the second most influential person in the HAA student population has marked everyone who approached Theo with ulterior motives as a ‘filthy social climber’.
Juno hardly ever mixed in with the other students so her opinions didn't really matter now. But as someone who will stand somewhere in the top in the future, being remembered by such a person in a negative light was no laughing matter.
The second point was that Juno was ‘one of Theo’s lovers’.
She, a potential powerhouse, accepted a submissive role in the relationship.
This meant that if they pissed off Theo, Juno would most likely harbor the same ill will.
As such, the social climbers couldn't touch Theo. PERIOD.
The next ‘annoyances’ he had to deal with was locker his locker filled with love letters from people he never even knew existed.
Since Juno has effectively blocked off the direct way of making connections with Theo via talking, this was the next logical option.
Theo’s reaction to this was throwing all of them down the trash bin. He also made sure that a lot of people saw him doing this in order to drive the point that he has no respect for such half assed ‘confessions’
With those out of the way, Theo was able to have some measure of peace and quiet.
It won't last long, but Theo was glad to take any breather he could get.

“Alrighty then. Let’s get on with the show. Any reason why I was called here during my precious lunch time?” asked Theo.
“There are 3 reasons to be exact. And mind you, I don't want to be here either. But too many things have been moving a little faster than I expected and all at the same time, so you have no choice in the matter” replied Miss Samantha.
“*sigh*... I’m probably the cause of one of those. Oh well. Lay it on me.”
“Indeed you are. The first one is about the ownership of Vermilion’s scrapyard. As you’d expect, its complicated. Due to its large size and relatively poor security, the scrapyard is one of the best routes for drugs, guns and other illegal goods to pass through. While we can ‘legally’ take the area without much of a problem, securing the area from illegals is a whole matter entirely. While my people can fortify the main offices, We’re gonna need a lot of security personnel to exterminate the pests and keep that massive land to ourselves.” said Miss Samantha.
“We’re currently working on that. Hopefully, we’ll get something in the next few days.” said Theo.
“I’ll take your word for it. Your current tech does give my boys an edge over the local hoodlums, but we’re simply too few.”
The preparation for Theo’s prosthetics business began a few days after the Alkebulan nuclear incident.
The first major hurdle he had to go through was the fact that he was still a minor.
As such, he needed someone of proper age to be registered as the stakeholder of his new enterprise.
At the moment, the ones registered on paper was Miss Samantha, her husbands and the frog face doctor.
Miss Samantha will be using the scrapyard as her base of operations once the security issue has been solved. Till then, she’ll be staying within the HAA for security.
Thanks to her connections, the processing of the papers, business permits and other bullshit was done before Theo returned to Vermilion City.
So technically speaking, Theo already owned the scrapyard.
As for security, Nichola’s help catapulted the research on the MKUltra-ish mind control into near completion in just a few days. She already had Theo’s data to work with, thus didn't have to stumble in the dark like he did.
While she didn't act like it, Nichola’s skill in item crafting was top notched.
This ability alone was worth all of the risks Theo went through on his stint with Nosferatu.
“With the issue of security out of the way, what’s the next on our agenda?” asked Theo.
“Next is office staff. I assume this little ‘project’ of yours, our ‘security personnel’ will cover our war potential. However, we need accountants, bookkeepers, pencil pushers, the works. I can provide people with that skill set, but I don't have a lot to spare.” said Miss Samantha.
“While I do have someone coming in a few weeks that specialized in that sort of thing, she’s only one person. I guess hiring actual people will be the way to go.” said Theo as he looked forward to officially adding Pani into his harem.

“Leave the recruitment to me. Human Resource happens to be my speciality.”
“Really? I thought it was spying and manipulation.”
“Same thing.”
Suddenly, Theo had a eureka moment.
“Now that I think of it, wasnt Dorothy’s dad a pro at this sort of things?” asked Theo.
Miss Samantha replied with a smile.
“Very good Theo. I was going to suggest him later, but it’s good that you brought him up. Dorothy’s father is definitely an asset to your company.” said Miss Samantha.
Maybe Theo has gotten a bit better at Miss Samantha’s manipulation game, but he instantly understood what she was truly after.
“Let me guess…. This is a shackle to entrap Dorothy. Am I right? ”
“Hahaha! Correct! This is actually part of the 3rd point of our meeting. While I’m assuming that you’re little project will result in a fairly decent pool of sacrificial lambs, you lack trustworthy talent that will take the lead in and out of combat. You did very good making Juno yours. However, she’s just one person. You need more.”
When the 2 turned their attention to Juno, she bowed like a butler in response.
She’s really getting into the whole servant roleplay.
“Good point.” said Theo as he nodded in agreement.
“Because of Crow’s ‘thou shalt not kill’ training, Dorothy’s overall training is inferior to yours. Nevertheless, her skills at infiltration, information gathering and stealth combat are top notched. But most importantly, her will is weak” said Miss Samantha, much to Theo’s confusion.
On the other hand, Juno’s ever present smile had a hint of sadistic wisdom when she heard Miss Samantha’s words.
This further confused Theo.
“Hold on. Her will is weak? That's a bit weird. I heard that Crow was once hit by a mind control spell which she resisted with nothing but willpower alone. Dorothy might not be Crow, but I’m sure she has received enough training to make her will rock solid.”
“That’s only true against what she perceived as ‘enemies’. But what of pressure from allies?”
“Sorry. You lost me there”
“Hmmm…. A good example would be Juno. She doesnt question your motives, actions or decisions. She will gladly do whatever you want no matter how absurd it may be. In a sense, she has no free will” said Miss Samantha before turning to Juno. “Am I correct young lady?”
“Yes. There is nothing I won't do for Theo.” said Juno with a sinister smile.
“And what if Theo commands you to kill an innocent child?”
“For the crime of being a nuisance to Theo, the child dies. Stop asking such obvious questions.” Juno replied with a scornful smile
Both Theo and Miss Samantha felt a very real shiver went up and down their spine.
Once again, they were reminded how dangerous this beautiful yet enigmatic girl was.
“A-anyway, Dorothy has a similar mindset to Juno where she has a hard time trying to push away the object of her affection. As such, you can easily force her to do whatever you want. And in the eventuality that she discovers you are ‘The Boss’, you have her father as a hostage.” said Miss Samantha.
“Hmm… so that’s how it is. But if she does discover who I am, wont she just go to the superheroes and tell them?” asked Theo
“And that’s why she needs to have high levels of affection for you. Her personal feelings will conflict with her moral compass, thus making her hesitate. At this point, you need to fully enslave her with the unbreakable shackles called Love”
“I see. Quite a sinister plan you go there”
“Of course. You’ll be the meat shield for the revival of my mafia family. I prefer if you don't die at all.”
“*sigh*.... At least your honest.”
“Well then. We’re done with the important bits. Time to ask some questions completely unrelated to our goals” said Miss Samantha as she leaned forward. “There’s something that’s been bothering me… care to sate my curiosity?”
“Er… sure...” said Theo
He wasn't sure what Miss Samantha was going to ask him, but he couldn't help but dread it.
“Why do you have a boner?” asked Miss Samantha in all seriousness.
.
.
.
.
.
.
“Huh?” replied the dumbfounded Theo
Let’s just say that he was expecting something a bit more serious.
“Mind you, I’m not questioning your tastes or anything. But I’m a bit overweight and I’m almost old enough to be your grandmother. But if you’re into chubby MILFs then I don't mind satisf-” said Miss Samantha as she made an action of taking off her top.
“HELL FUCKING NO!” Roared Theo
“Miss Samantha, Theo is lust incarnate . You alone are not enough. Allow me to-” said Juno as she began taking off her pants.
“DON'T YOU DARE YOU HORNY BITCH!”
“~Ahn! Thank you for your oppressive words~!”
“SHUT UP!”
The room spiraled into chaos for a couple of seconds before sanity finally returned.
Theo quickly told Miss Samantha about the Incubus Serum before she and Juno had a chance to reignite their teasing barrage.
“Hoo… so it’s been 6 days since you injected that thing? That’s pretty damn impressive.” said Miss Samantha with interest.
“It was designed to last for a few hours. Apparently, the Khlysty Gospel made it last longer. At least that’s what the creator of the Incubus Serum said.” replied Theo.
“Can you reproduce this by yourself?”
“It’s not pure science based, so I cant produce the final product using midas alchemy. However, if I take the longer route and follow classical alchemic methods, then yeah. I or pretty much anyone can do it no problem.”
“Fuehehehehe! Theo my boy! I have a business offer that you can't refuse!”
A few minutes later, laughter of intense greed echoed throughout the room.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

A Loner's Calling
Additional Tags: Weak to OP, Ruthless Male Lead Ren, a high school student, was summoned along with his classmates to another world. Their job was to unite the 10 continents warring with each other. Unlike wars among countries, wars across continents were in a whole other league. Death was always nearby, creeping near to take away your life. Luckily, they were given abilities by the God in order to cope with their lack of experience, as well as a one month protection inside the heavenly dome for training, preventing their death. But Ren however, was given something else entirely. “[Loner] title activated, declining invitation to heavenly dome. Remaining in current world…” _____________________________________________________________________ A/N: Ok, so for those wondering about my other fiction, it's still alive. I plan on continuing it, and I plan on posting the next chapter for it about on or after Christmas. The reason for it was because all of my plans, layout, even outline, as well as some chapters I was suppose to release were deleted thanks to a mishap by my classmate. That really triggered me so I got unmotivated, but I plan on continuing it so don't worry. Also, I plan on writing this new series, much more because there is no more classes (CHRISTMAS BREAK HERE I COME!!!), sadly, I still have to take a removal exam because I failed one of my subjects (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!) Well anyway, that's enough for me, enjoy!
